And the word of the Lord came unto me, saying,

10 Take of them of the captivity, even of Heldai, of Tobijah, and of Jedaiah, which are come from Babylon, and come thou the same day, and go into the house of Josiah the son of Zephaniah;

11 Then take silver and gold, and make crowns, and set them upon the head of Joshua the son of Josedech, the high priest;

12 And speak unto him, saying, Thus speaketh the Lord of hosts, saying, Behold the man whose name is The Branch; and he shall grow up out of his place, and he shall build the temple of the Lord:

13 Even he shall build the temple of the Lord; and he shall bear the glory, and shall sit and rule upon his throne; and he shall be a priest upon his throne: and the counsel of peace shall be between them both.

14 And the crowns shall be to Helem, and to Tobijah, and to Jedaiah, and to Hen the son of Zephaniah, for a memorial in the temple of the Lord.

15 And they that are far off shall come and build in the temple of the Lord, and ye shall know that the Lord of hosts hath sent me unto you. And this shall come to pass, if ye will diligently obey the voice of the Lord your God.

A Crown for Joshua

The word of the Lord came to me: 10 “Take silver and gold from the exiles Heldai, Tobijah and Jedaiah, who have arrived from Babylon.(A) Go the same day to the house of Josiah son of Zephaniah. 11 Take the silver and gold and make a crown,(B) and set it on the head of the high priest, Joshua(C) son of Jozadak.[a](D) 12 Tell him this is what the Lord Almighty says: ‘Here is the man whose name is the Branch,(E) and he will branch out from his place and build the temple of the Lord.(F) 13 It is he who will build the temple of the Lord, and he will be clothed with majesty and will sit and rule on his throne. And he[b] will be a priest(G) on his throne. And there will be harmony between the two.’ 14 The crown will be given to Heldai,[c] Tobijah, Jedaiah and Hen[d] son of Zephaniah as a memorial(H) in the temple of the Lord. 15 Those who are far away will come and help to build the temple of the Lord,(I) and you will know that the Lord Almighty has sent me to you.(J) This will happen if you diligently obey(K) the Lord your God.”

The Crown and the Temple

And the word of the Lord came to me: 10 “Take from the exiles (A)Heldai, Tobijah, and (B)Jedaiah, who have arrived from Babylon, and go the same day to the house of Josiah, the son of (C)Zephaniah. 11 Take from them silver and gold, and make a crown, (D)and set it on the head of (E)Joshua, the son of Jehozadak, the high priest. 12 And say to him, ‘Thus says the Lord of hosts, “Behold, the man whose name is (F)the Branch: for he shall branch out from his place, and (G)he shall build the temple of the Lord. 13 (H)It is he who shall build the temple of the Lord (I)and shall bear royal honor, and shall sit and rule on his throne. And there[a] shall be a (J)priest on his throne, (K)and the counsel of peace shall be between them both.”’ 14 And the crown shall be in the temple of the Lord as (L)a reminder to (M)Helem,[b] (N)Tobijah, (O)Jedaiah, and Hen (P)the son of Zephaniah.

15 (Q)“And those who are far off shall come and (R)help to build the temple of the Lord. (S)And you shall know that the Lord of hosts has sent me to you. (T)And this shall come to pass, if you will diligently obey the voice of the Lord your God.”

Crowning of the Branch

The word of the Lord came to me:(A) 10 “Take an offering from the exiles, from Heldai, Tobijah, and Jedaiah, who have arrived from Babylon, and go that same day to the house of Josiah son of Zephaniah. 11 Take silver and gold, make a crown,[a] and place it on the head of Joshua son of Jehozadak, the high priest. 12 You are to tell him: This is what the Lord of Armies says: Here is a man whose name is Branch;(B) he will branch out from his place and build the Lord’s temple. 13 Yes, he will build the Lord’s temple; he will bear royal splendor(C) and will sit on his throne and rule. There will be a priest on his throne, and there will be peaceful counsel between the two of them.(D) 14 The crown will reside in the Lord’s temple as a memorial to Heldai, Tobijah, Jedaiah, and Hen[b] son of Zephaniah. 15 People who are far off will come and build the Lord’s temple, and you will know that the Lord of Armies has sent me to you. This will happen when you fully obey the Lord your God.”(E)

The (A)word of the Lord also came to me, saying, 10 (B)Take an offering from the exiles, from Heldai, Tobijah and Jedaiah; and you go the same day and enter the house of Josiah the son of Zephaniah, where they have arrived from Babylon.

The Symbolic Crowns

11 Take silver and gold, make an ornate (C)crown and set it on the head of (D)Joshua the son of Jehozadak, the high priest. 12 Then say to him, ‘Thus says the Lord of hosts, “Behold, a man whose name is [a](E)Branch, for He will [b](F)branch out from where He is; and He will (G)build the temple of the Lord. 13 Yes, it is He who will build the temple of the Lord, and He who will (H)bear the honor and sit and (I)rule on His throne. Thus, He will be a (J)priest on His throne, and the counsel of peace will be between the two [c]offices.”’ 14 Now the (K)crown will become a reminder in the temple of the Lord to Helem, Tobijah, Jedaiah and [d]Hen the son of Zephaniah. 15 (L)Those who are far off will come and [e]build the temple of the Lord.” Then you will (M)know that the Lord of hosts has sent me to you. And it will take place if you completely (N)obey the Lord your God.
