4 Pandan Pyè ak Jan t ap pale ak foul la konsa, yon pakèt lidè Jwif ki te gen kèk prèt ladan yo, kòmandan lagad ki t ap siveye tanp lan ansanm ak kèk Sadiseyen te vin parèt kote yo te ye a. 2 Lidè sa yo te fache anpil dèske Pyè ak Jan t ap anseye pèp la, dèske yo t ap pale pèp la de Jezi epi fè yo konnen moun mouri kapab leve vivan ankò menm jan ak Jezi. 3 Konsa, lidè yo arete Pyè ak Jan epi yo mete yo nan prizon. Kòm solèy te gentan fin kouche, mesye yo pase nuit la nan prizon an pou tann demen. 4 Malgre sa, anpil nan moun ki t ap koute Pyè ak Jan yo te mete konfyans yo nan Jezi. Sa te fè kantite kwayan yo te rive jouk nan senk mil (5,000) konsa.
5 Nan demen, chèf Jwif yo, lidè yo ki pami pèp la ansanm ak Skrib yo, yo tout te rasanble nan Jerizalèm. 6 Nan moun ki te la yo, te gen Àn, chèf prèt la, te gen Kayif, Jan, Aleksann, ansanm ak yon bann lòt moun ankò ki nan branch fanmi chèf prèt la. 7 Yo mete Pyè ak Jan kanpe nan mitan epi yo tonbe poze yo kesyon. Yo mande yo pou yo di ak ki pouvwa osinon nan non ki lès yo geri nonm kite paralize a.
8 Lè sa a, Pyè te vin twouve l anba kontwòl Sentespri a epi li di yo: “Nou menm chèf yo ansanm ak lidè pami pèp Izrayèl la. 9 Gade se nou menm jodi a k ap poze nou kesyon sou byen nou fè pou nonm ki te estwopye a. Nou bezwen konnen kijan li fè geri? 10 Enben se pou nou tout ki la a, ansanm ak tout pèp Izrayèl la, se pou nou konnen se nan non Jezikris, nonm Nazarèt, la li geri. Nou te klouwe l sou kwa a, men Bondye fè l leve soti vivan nan lanmò. Se poutèt pouvwa Jezikris nonm sa a kanpe an sante devan nou jodi a. 11 Jezi se
wòch[a] nou te voye jete pou pa bon an,
nou menm ki t ap bati kay la,
men, li tounen wòch kwen an,
wòch ki pi enpòtan an.(A)
12 Pa gen delivrans nan pyès lòt moun, eksepte nan Jezi sèlman. Paske Bondye pa bay non okenn lòt moun sou latè ki kapab delivre moun. Se Jezi sèl ki ka delivre nou.”
13 Chèf Jwif yo pa t manke sezi lè yo te wè kijan Pyè ak Jan t ap pale avèk konviksyon, sitou lè yo vin reyalize mesye sa yo se pa moun ki te gen gwo enstriksyon ni okenn fòmasyon espesyal. Amplis, yo te vin reyalize Pyè ak Jan te ansanm avèk Jezi. 14 Lidè Jwif yo pa t jwenn anyen pou reponn Pyè ak Jan sou sa yo te di yo, paske yo te wè nonm ki te geri a kanpe la, bò kote yo.
15 Konsa, yo kòmande Pyè ak Jan pou yo soti epi Gran Konsèy la menm te toujou reyini ap reflechi ansanm sou kisa pou yo ta fè. 16 Yo t ap di: “Ki sa pou nou fè ak mesye sa yo menm? Paske li klè pou tout moun k ap viv nan Jerizalèm se yo menm ki te fè gwo mirak sa a. Sa k pi rèd la, nou pa ka di se pa vre. 17 Men, pou nou ka anpeche bagay la kontinye gaye, nou ka fè presyon sou yo pou yo pa kontinye pale nan non nonm sa a[b] ak pèsonn moun ankò.”
18 Apre sa, yo rele apot yo, yo pase yo lòd sevè pou yo pa janm preche ni anseye moun nan non Jezi ankò. 19 Men, Pyè ak Jan reponn Gran Konsèy la, yo di yo: “Ki sa nou panse Bondye ta vle, pou n obeyi nou osinon pou n obeyi Bondye? 20 Nou pa ka pe bouch nou, nou pa ka pa rakonte sa nou te wè ak sa n te tande.”
21 Malgre sa, lidè Jwif yo bay Pyè ak Jan kèk presyon toujou epi yo lage yo. Yo pa t ka jwenn okazyon pou pini mesye yo poutèt pèp la. Se tout pèp la ki t ap fè lwanj pou Bondye poutèt gwo mirak mesye yo te fè a. 22 Nonm ki te geri pa mwayen mirak apot yo te fè a te gen plis pase karant (40) an.
Pyè ak Jan tounen al jwenn lòt disip yo
23 Lage Pyè ak Jan te fin lage, yo ale tou dwat al jwenn rès gwoup patizan Jezi yo epi yo rakonte yo tout sa chèf prèt yo ak lidè yo nan pèp Jwif la te di yo. 24 Lè kwayan yo tande sa Pyè ak Jan te rapòte yo a, yo tout leve vwa yo ansanm nan lapriyè devan Bondye. Yo di: “O Mèt, ou menm ki te kreye syèl la, tè a, lanmè a ak tout sa ki ladan yo. 25 Sèvitè w David, zansèt nou, te di pawòl sa yo anba pouvwa Sentespri a:
Poukisa moun lòt nasyon yo ap bat kò yo konsa?
Poukisa pèp yo ap fè bann plan ki pa vo anyen sa yo?
26 Tout wa latè yo prepare yo pou batay,
tout chèf yo rasanble ansanm
pou yo goumen kont Senyè a
ak kont Kris la.(B)
27 Se egzateman sa ki te rive nan vil sa a menm, lè Ewòd te reyini ansanm ak Pons Pilat ansanm ak moun lòt nasyon yo ak pèp Izrayèl la kont Jezi, sèvitè w la ou te chwazi epi ki te mache dwat devan w lan. 28 Yo te fè sa pou yo te ka akonpli sa ou menm, nan pouvwa w ak volonte w te gen tan planifye davans pou rive. 29 Kounye a Senyè, gade kijan y ap fè nou menas pou anpeche nou pale. Ede sèvitè w yo pou yo ka pwoklame mesaj ou a avèk konviksyon. 30 Lonje men w pou fè moun malad geri, fè mirak ak anpil lòt bèl bagay rive pa mwayen pouvwa[c] Jezi, sèvitè w la ki te viv apa pou ou a.”
31 Apre kwayan yo te fin priye Bondye konsa, kote yo te rasanble a te pran tranble. Tout moun ki te la, san manke youn, te vin ranpli ak Sentespri a epi yo te tonbe preche mesaj Bondye a san pè anyen.
Kwayan yo separe sa yo genyen ansanm
32 Tout moun ki te mete konfyans yo nan Jezi yo te fè yon sèl. Yo te gen menm panse nan tèt yo epi yo te gen menm santiman youn pou lòt. Pèsonn pa t di byen l te genyen se te pou li sèlman. Okontrè, tout sa youn te genyen te pou tout moun. 33 Se avèk anpil puisans apot yo t ap fè konnen jan Senyè Jezi te leve soti vivan nan lanmò. Bondye menm t ap vide benediksyon an kantite sou tout kwayan yo. 34 Pa t gen pèsonn ki te nan nesesite nan mitan yo. Sa k te gen tè osinon kay te van yo epi yo pote lajan an vini. 35 Yo te pote lajan an bay apot yo. Apre sa, yo te separe bay chak moun selon bezwen yo.
36 Youn nan kwayan sa yo te rele Jozèf. Se te yon Jwif nan branch fanmi Levi ki te soti nan yon zile ki rele Chip. Apot yo te ba l ti non Banabas, ki te vle di “Nonm ki renmen ankouraje moun nan”. 37 Jozèf te gen yon jaden tou. Li vann li epi li pote lajan an bay apot yo.

Peter and John Before the Council
4 And as they were speaking to the people, the priests and (A)the captain of the temple and (B)the Sadducees came upon them, 2 greatly annoyed because they were teaching the people and proclaiming (C)in Jesus the resurrection from the dead. 3 And they arrested them and (D)put them in custody until the next day, for it was already evening. 4 But many of those who had heard the word believed, and (E)the number of the men came to about five thousand.
5 On the next day their rulers and elders and scribes gathered together in Jerusalem, 6 with (F)Annas the high priest and (G)Caiaphas and John and Alexander, and all who were of the high-priestly family. 7 And when they had set them in the midst, they inquired, (H)“By what power or (I)by what name did you do this?” 8 Then Peter, (J)filled with the Holy Spirit, said to them, “Rulers of the people and elders, 9 if we are being examined today (K)concerning a good deed done to a crippled man, by what means this man has been healed, 10 let it be known to all of you and to all the people of Israel that (L)by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom you crucified, (M)whom God raised from the dead—by him this man is standing before you well. 11 (N)This Jesus[a] is the stone that was (O)rejected by you, the builders, which has become the cornerstone.[b] 12 And there is (P)salvation (Q)in no one else, for (R)there is no other (S)name under heaven given among men[c] by which we must be saved.”
13 (T)Now when they saw the boldness of Peter and John, and perceived that they were uneducated, common men, they were astonished. And they recognized that they had been with Jesus. 14 But seeing the man who was healed (U)standing beside them, (V)they had nothing to say in opposition. 15 But when they had commanded them to leave the council, they conferred with one another, 16 saying, (W)“What shall we do with these men? For that (X)a notable sign has been performed through them is evident to all the inhabitants of Jerusalem, and we cannot deny it. 17 But in order that it may spread no further among the people, let us warn them (Y)to speak no more to anyone in this name.” 18 So they called them and charged them not to speak or teach at all in the name of Jesus. 19 But Peter and John answered them, (Z)“Whether it is right in the sight of God to listen to you rather than to God, you must judge, 20 for (AA)we cannot but speak of what (AB)we have seen and heard.” 21 And when they had further threatened them, they let them go, finding no way to punish them, (AC)because of the people, for all were praising God (AD)for what had happened. 22 For the man on whom this sign of healing was performed was more than forty years old.
The Believers Pray for Boldness
23 When they were released, they went to their friends and reported what the chief priests and the elders had said to them. 24 And when they heard it, they lifted their voices (AE)together to God and said, “Sovereign Lord, (AF)who made the heaven and the earth and the sea and everything in them, 25 who through the mouth of our father David, your servant,[d] said by the Holy Spirit,
(AG)“‘Why did the Gentiles rage,
and the peoples plot in vain?
26 The kings of the earth set themselves,
and (AH)the rulers were gathered together,
against the Lord and against his (AI)Anointed’[e]—
27 for truly in this city there were gathered together against your (AJ)holy servant Jesus, (AK)whom you anointed, both (AL)Herod and (AM)Pontius Pilate, along (AN)with the Gentiles and (AO)the peoples of Israel, 28 (AP)to do whatever your hand and (AQ)your plan had predestined to take place. 29 And now, Lord, (AR)look upon their threats and grant to your servants to continue to speak your word with all (AS)boldness, 30 while (AT)you stretch out your hand to heal, and signs and wonders are performed (AU)through the name of your (AV)holy servant Jesus.” 31 And when they had prayed, (AW)the place in which they were gathered together was shaken, and (AX)they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and (AY)continued to speak the word of God with boldness.
They Had Everything in Common
32 Now the full number of those who believed were of (AZ)one heart and (BA)soul, and no one said that any of the things that belonged to him was his own, but (BB)they had everything in common. 33 And with great (BC)power the apostles were giving their testimony to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus, and (BD)great grace was upon them all. 34 (BE)There was not a needy person among them, for (BF)as many as were owners of lands or houses sold them and brought the proceeds of what was sold 35 and (BG)laid it at the apostles' feet, and (BH)it was distributed to each as any had need. 36 Thus Joseph, who was also called by the apostles Barnabas (which means (BI)son of encouragement), a Levite, a native of Cyprus, 37 sold a field that belonged to him and brought the money and (BJ)laid it at the apostles' feet.

Standing Before the Sanhedrin
4 As Peter and John were speaking to the people, the kohanim and the captain of the Temple and the Sadducees came up to them. 2 They were indignant because Peter and John were teaching the people and announcing in Yeshua the resurrection of the dead. 3 So they grabbed them and put them in jail until the next day, for it was already evening. 4 But many who heard the message believed, and the number of the men came to about five thousand.
5 On the next day, the rulers and elders and Torah scholars were gathered together in Jerusalem. 6 Annas the kohen gadol was there, and Caiaphas and John and Alexander, and all those who were of high-priestly descent. 7 When they had placed Peter and John in their midst, they began to inquire, “By what power or in what name did you do this?”
8 Then Peter, filled with the Ruach ha-Kodesh, said to them, “Rulers and elders of the people! 9 If we are on trial today for a mitzvah done for a sick man, as to how this fellow was healed, 10 let it be known to all of you and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of Yeshua ha-Mashiach ha-Natzrati—whom you had crucified, whom God raised from the dead—this one stands before you whole. 11 This Yeshua is ‘the stone—rejected by you, the builders—that has become the chief cornerstone.’ [a] 12 There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved!”
13 Now when they saw the boldness of Peter and John and figured out they were laymen without training, they were amazed. They began to realize that these men had been with Yeshua. 14 But seeing the healed man standing with them, they had nothing to say in response. 15 When they had ordered Peter and John to go out of the council chamber, they began to confer with one another, 16 saying, “What shall we do with these men? For indeed, it’s obvious to everyone living in Jerusalem that a remarkable miracle has happened through them, and we cannot deny it. 17 But so it won’t spread any further among the people, let’s warn them not to speak anymore to anyone in this name.”
18 So they called them in and ordered them not to speak or teach at all in the name of Yeshua. 19 But Peter and John replied, “Whether it is right in the sight of God to listen to you rather than to God, you decide. 20 For we cannot stop speaking about what we have seen and heard.”
21 After threatening them again, they let them go—finding no way they could punish them on account of the people, because they all were glorifying God for what had happened. 22 For the man in whom this miracle of healing had happened was more than forty years old.
Prayer for Courage
23 As soon as they were released, Peter and John went to their own people and reported all that the ruling kohanim and elders had said to them. 24 When they heard it, they lifted their voices together to God and said, “O Sovereign Master, ‘You made heaven and earth and the sea, and everything in them.’ [b] 25 You said by the Ruach ha-Kodesh, through the mouth of our father David Your servant,
‘Why did the nations rage
and the peoples plot foolish things?
26 The kings of the earth took their stand
and the rulers were gathered together
against Adonai and against His
Anointed One.’[c]
27 “For truly both Herod and Pontius Pilate, along with the Gentiles and the peoples of Israel, were gathered together in this city against Your holy Servant Yeshua, whom You anointed. 28 They did whatever Your hand and Your purpose predetermined to happen. 29 And now, Lord, look at their threats, and grant Your servants to speak Your word with utmost courage— 30 while You stretch out Your hand to heal, and signs and wonders take place through the name of Your holy Servant Yeshua.”
31 When they had prayed, the place where they were gathered was shaken. And they were all filled with the Ruach ha-Kodesh and began to speak the word of God with boldness.
Ruach-Filled Community Life
32 Now the whole group of those who believed was one in heart and mind. No one would say anything he owned was his own, but they had everything in common. 33 With great power the emissaries were giving witness to the resurrection of the Lord Yeshua, and abundant favor was upon them all. 34 No one among them was needy, for all who were owners of lands or houses would sell them and bring the proceeds 35 and set them at the feet of the emissaries. And the proceeds were distributed according to the need each one had.
36 Now Joseph, also called Barnabas by the emissaries (which is translated Son of Encouragement), was a Levite and native of Cyprus. 37 He sold a field that he owned and brought the money and laid it at the feet of the emissaries.
