4 To Titus, my own son in the common faith:
Grace, mercy, and peace, from God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ our Savior.

5 For this reason I left you in Crete, that you should set in order the things that are lacking, and appoint elders in every city, as I commanded you: 6 any man who is blameless, the husband of one wife, having faithful children who are not accused of being wild or unruly.

5 The reason I left you in Crete(E) was that you might put in order what was left unfinished and appoint[a] elders(F) in every town, as I directed you. 6 An elder must be blameless,(G) faithful to his wife, a man whose children believe[b] and are not open to the charge of being wild and disobedient.
