60 ^(A)Arise, shine, for your light has come,
    and ^(B)the glory of the Lord has risen upon you.
² For behold, darkness shall cover the earth,
    and thick darkness the peoples;
but the Lord will arise upon you,
    and his glory will be seen upon you.

^6 (A)For the Lord has called you
    like a wife deserted and grieved in spirit,
like a wife of youth when she is cast off,
    says your God.
^7 (B)For a brief moment I deserted you,
    but with great compassion I will gather you.
^8 (C)In overflowing anger for a moment
    I hid my face from you,
^(D)but with everlasting love I will have compassion on you,”
    says the Lord, your Redeemer.

^2 (A)Speak tenderly to Jerusalem,
    and cry to her
that ^(B)her warfare^[a] is ended,
    that her iniquity is pardoned,
that she has received from the Lord's hand
    double for all her sins.

12 You^[a] will say ^(A)in that day:
“I will give thanks to you, O Lord,
    for though you were angry with me,
^(B)your anger turned away,
    that you might comfort me.

⁴ a time to ^(A)weep, and a time to laugh;
a time to mourn, and a time to ^(B)dance;
