Deus repreende a Israel pela sua ingratidão e rebelião
Salmo de Asafe para o cantor-mor, sobre Gitite
81 Cantai alegremente a Deus, nossa fortaleza; celebrai o Deus de Jacó. 2 Tomai o saltério e trazei o adufe, a harpa suave e o alaúde. 3 Tocai a trombeta na Festa da Lua Nova, no tempo marcado para a nossa solenidade. 4 Porque isto é um estatuto para Israel, e uma ordenança do Deus de Jacó. 5 Ordenou-o em José por testemunho, quando saíra contra a terra do Egito, onde ouvi uma língua que não entendia. 6 Tirei de seus ombros a carga; as suas mãos ficaram livres dos cestos. 7 Clamaste na angústia, e te livrei; respondi-te do lugar oculto dos trovões; provei-te nas águas de Meribá. 8 Ouve-me, povo meu, e eu te admoestarei. Ah! Israel, se me ouvisses! 9 Não haverá entre ti deus alheio, nem te prostrarás ante um deus estranho. 10 Eu sou o Senhor, teu Deus, que te tirei da terra do Egito; abre bem a tua boca, e ta encherei.
11 Mas o meu povo não quis ouvir a minha voz, e Israel não me quis.
12 Pelo que eu os entreguei aos desejos do seu coração, e andaram segundo os seus próprios conselhos. 13 Ah! Se o meu povo me tivesse ouvido! Se Israel andasse nos meus caminhos! 14 Em breve eu abateria os seus inimigos e voltaria a minha mão contra os seus adversários. 15 Os que aborrecem ao Senhor ter-se-lhe-iam sujeitado, e o tempo dele seria eterno. 16 E eu o sustentaria com o trigo mais fino e o saciaria com o mel saído da rocha.

81 Til korlederen: Brug et strengeinstrument.[a] En sang af Asaf.
2 Lovpris vor Gud, som giver os styrke,
bryd ud i jubel for Israels Gud.
3 Syng til lyden af tamburiner,
til skønne toner fra harper og lyrer.
4 Vædderhornet indvarsler højtiderne,
både nymånefest og løvhyttefest.
5 Det er fester, som Gud har forordnet,
de er beskrevet i Israels love.
6 Han gjorde det til en regel i Israel,
da han førte os ud af Egypten.
Jeg hørte en ukendt stemme sige til mig:[b]
7 „Jeg fjernede byrden fra din skulder,
jeg befriede dig fra det hårde slid.
8 Du råbte til mig i din nød, og jeg frelste dig.
Jeg talte til dig fra tordenskyen.
Jeg prøvede din tro ved Meriba.
9 Lyt til mig, mit folk, for jeg advarer jer.
Åh, Israel, ville I dog bare adlyde mig.
10 I må aldrig tilbede nogen anden gud
eller bøje jer for et billede af en afgud,
11 for det var mig, jeres Herre og Gud,
som førte jer ud af Egyptens land.
Bed til mig, når I har brug for min hjælp,
og I skal opleve, hvor god og gavmild jeg er.
12 Men mit folk nægtede at adlyde mig,
Israel ville ikke have med mig at gøre.
13 Så lod jeg dem gå deres egne veje,
og de gjorde ganske som de ville.
14 Bare mit folk dog ville adlyde mig,
gid de ville følge mine befalinger.
15 Så ville jeg hurtigt besejre deres fjender,
feje alle deres modstandere bort.
16 Alle fjenderne ville krybe sammen af skræk,
det ville være slut med dem for altid.

A Song for a Holiday
For the director of music. By the gittith [C perhaps a musical term or instrument]. A psalm of Asaph [C a Levitical musician, a descendant of Gershon, at the time of David; 1 Chr. 6:39; 15:17; 2 Chr. 5:12].
81 Sing for joy to God, our strength;
shout out loud to the God of Jacob [C another name for Israel].
2 ·Begin the music [Lift up a psalm]. ·Play [Sound; L Give] the tambourines [68:25; 149:3; 150:4; Ex. 15:20].
·Play pleasant music on the harps [L …the pleasant/sweet harps] and lyres.
3 Blow the ·trumpet [ram’s horn] at ·the time of the New Moon [L the month; C a monthly religious festival],
when the moon is full, when our feast begins.
4 This is the ·law [statute; ordinance; requirement] for Israel;
it is the ·command [judgment] of the God of Jacob [v. 1].
5 He ·gave [set] this ·rule [decree; testimony] to the people of Joseph [C reference to the northern tribes]
when they went out of the land of Egypt [C the exodus; Ex. 12–15].
I heard a ·language [L tongue] I did not know, saying [C God now speaks]:
6 “I ·took the load off [removed the burden from] their shoulders;
·I let them put down their baskets [L Their hands were removed from the baskets].
7 When you were in ·trouble [distress], you called, and I ·saved [rescued] you.
I answered you ·with thunder [L in the secret place of thunder; Ex. 19:18–19].
I tested you at the waters of Meribah [95:8; 106:32; Ex. 17:1–17; Num. 20:1–13]. ·
8 My people, listen. I ·am warning [bear testimony/witness against] you.
Israel, please listen to me!
9 You must not have ·foreign [strange] gods;
you must not worship any ·false [foreign] god.
10 I, the Lord, am your God,
who brought you out of Egypt.
·Open [L Widen] your mouth and I will feed you [Deut. 29:6; 32:10–14].
11 “But my people did not listen to ·me [L my voice];
Israel did not ·want [accept] me.
12 So I ·let them go their stubborn way [L threw them away because of their stubborn hearts]
and ·follow [walk according to] their own advice.
13 I wish my people would listen to me;
I wish Israel would ·live [L walk on] my way.
14 Then I would quickly ·defeat [subdue; quell] their enemies
and turn my hand against their foes.
15 Those who hate the Lord would ·bow [cringe; cower] before him.
Their ·punishment [doom] would continue forever.
16 But I would give you the finest wheat [Deut. 32:14]
and fill you with honey from the rocks [Deut. 32:13].”

3 Sound the ram’s horn(E) at the New Moon,(F)
and when the moon is full, on the day of our festival;
4 this is a decree for Israel,
an ordinance of the God of Jacob.(G)
5 When God went out against Egypt,(H)
he established it as a statute for Joseph.
I heard an unknown voice say:(I)
6 “I removed the burden(J) from their shoulders;(K)
their hands were set free from the basket.
7 In your distress you called(L) and I rescued you,
I answered(M) you out of a thundercloud;
I tested you at the waters of Meribah.[c](N)
8 Hear me, my people,(O) and I will warn you—
if you would only listen to me, Israel!
9 You shall have no foreign god(P) among you;
you shall not worship any god other than me.
10 I am the Lord your God,
who brought you up out of Egypt.(Q)

11 “But my people would not listen to me;
Israel would not submit to me.(T)
12 So I gave them over(U) to their stubborn hearts
to follow their own devices.
13 “If my people would only listen to me,(V)
if Israel would only follow my ways,
14 how quickly I would subdue(W) their enemies
and turn my hand against(X) their foes!
15 Those who hate the Lord would cringe(Y) before him,
and their punishment would last forever.

81 Sing aloud unto God our strength: make a joyful noise unto the God of Jacob.
2 Take a psalm, and bring hither the timbrel, the pleasant harp with the psaltery.
3 Blow up the trumpet in the new moon, in the time appointed, on our solemn feast day.
4 For this was a statute for Israel, and a law of the God of Jacob.
5 This he ordained in Joseph for a testimony, when he went out through the land of Egypt: where I heard a language that I understood not.
6 I removed his shoulder from the burden: his hands were delivered from the pots.
7 Thou calledst in trouble, and I delivered thee; I answered thee in the secret place of thunder: I proved thee at the waters of Meribah. Selah.
8 Hear, O my people, and I will testify unto thee: O Israel, if thou wilt hearken unto me;
9 There shall no strange god be in thee; neither shalt thou worship any strange god.
10 I am the Lord thy God, which brought thee out of the land of Egypt: open thy mouth wide, and I will fill it.
11 But my people would not hearken to my voice; and Israel would none of me.
12 So I gave them up unto their own hearts' lust: and they walked in their own counsels.
13 Oh that my people had hearkened unto me, and Israel had walked in my ways!
14 I should soon have subdued their enemies, and turned my hand against their adversaries.
15 The haters of the Lord should have submitted themselves unto him: but their time should have endured for ever.
16 He should have fed them also with the finest of the wheat: and with honey out of the rock should I have satisfied thee.
