Descendants of Boaz and Ruth^(A)

¹³ So Boaz ^(B)took Ruth and she became his wife; and when he went in to her, ^(C)the Lord gave her conception, and she bore a son. ¹⁴ Then ^(D)the women said to Naomi, “Blessed be the Lord, who has not left you this day without a ^[a]close relative; and may his name be famous in Israel! ¹⁵ And may he be to you a restorer of life and a ^[b]nourisher of your old age; for your daughter-in-law, who loves you, who is ^(E)better to you than seven sons, has borne him.” ¹⁶ Then Naomi took the child and laid him on her bosom, and became a nurse to him. ^17 (F)Also the neighbor women gave him a name, saying, “There is a son born to Naomi.” And they called his name Obed. He is the father of Jesse, the father of David.

^18 (G)Now this is the genealogy of Perez: ^(H)Perez begot Hezron; ¹⁹ Hezron begot Ram, and Ram begot Amminadab; ²⁰ Amminadab begot ^(I)Nahshon, and Nahshon begot ^(J)Salmon;^{[c] 21} Salmon begot Boaz, and Boaz begot Obed; ²² Obed begot Jesse, and Jesse begot ^(K)David.

⁵ Salmon begot ^(A)Boaz by Rahab, Boaz begot Obed by Ruth, Obed begot Jesse, ⁶ and ^(B)Jesse begot David the king.

^(C)David the king begot Solomon by her ^[a]who had been the wife of Uriah. ^7 (D)Solomon begot Rehoboam, Rehoboam begot ^(E)Abijah, and Abijah begot ^[b]Asa. ⁸ Asa begot ^(F)Jehoshaphat, Jehoshaphat begot Joram, and Joram begot ^(G)Uzziah. ⁹ Uzziah begot Jotham, Jotham begot ^(H)Ahaz, and Ahaz begot Hezekiah. ^10 (I)Hezekiah begot Manasseh, Manasseh begot ^[c]Amon, and Amon begot ^(J)Josiah. ^11 (K)Josiah begot ^[d]Jeconiah and his brothers about the time they were ^(L)carried away to Babylon.

¹² And after they were brought to Babylon, ^(M)Jeconiah begot Shealtiel, and Shealtiel begot ^(N)Zerubbabel. ¹³ Zerubbabel begot Abiud, Abiud begot Eliakim, and Eliakim begot Azor. ¹⁴ Azor begot Zadok, Zadok begot Achim, and Achim begot Eliud. ¹⁵ Eliud begot Eleazar, Eleazar begot Matthan, and Matthan begot Jacob. ¹⁶ And Jacob begot Joseph the husband of ^(O)Mary, of whom was born Jesus who is called Christ.
