²⁹ Then it happened, as he drew back his hand, that his brother came out unexpectedly; and she said, “How did you break through? This breach be upon you!” Therefore his name was called ^(A)Perez.^[a]

⁴ And ^(A)Tamar, his daughter-in-law, ^(B)bore him Perez and Zerah. All the sons of Judah were five.

²⁰ And Eli ^(A)would bless Elkanah and his wife, and say, “The Lord give you descendants from this woman for the ^[a]loan that was ^(B)given to the Lord.” Then they would go to their own home.

^3 (A)Judah begot Perez and Zerah by Tamar, ^(B)Perez begot Hezron, and Hezron begot Ram.

¹² The sons of ^(A)Judah were ^(B)Er, Onan, Shelah, Perez, and Zerah (but Er and Onan died in the land of Canaan). ^(C)The sons of Perez were Hezron and Hamul.

^18 (A)Now this is the genealogy of Perez: ^(B)Perez begot Hezron;

²⁰ And ^(A)the sons of Judah according to their families were: of Shelah, the family of the Shelanites; of Perez, the family of the Parzites; of Zerah, the family of the Zarhites. ²¹ And the sons of Perez were: of Hezron, the family of the Hezronites; of Hamul, the family of the Hamulites. ²² These are the families of Judah according to those who were numbered of them: seventy-six thousand five hundred.
