22 So Naomi returned from Moab accompanied by Ruth the Moabite,(A) her daughter-in-law,(B) arriving in Bethlehem as the barley harvest(C) was beginning.(D)

Ruth Meets Boaz in the Grain Field

Now Naomi had a relative(E) on her husband’s side, a man of standing(F) from the clan of Elimelek,(G) whose name was Boaz.(H)

And Ruth the Moabite(I) said to Naomi, “Let me go to the fields and pick up the leftover grain(J) behind anyone in whose eyes I find favor.(K)

Naomi said to her, “Go ahead, my daughter.” So she went out, entered a field and began to glean behind the harvesters.(L) As it turned out, she was working in a field belonging to Boaz, who was from the clan of Elimelek.(M)

Naomi Gains a Son

13 So Boaz took Ruth and she became his wife. When he made love to her, the Lord enabled her to conceive,(A) and she gave birth to a son.(B)
