14 Then they lifted up their voices and wept again; and Orpah kissed her mother-in-law, but Ruth (A)clung to her.

15 And she said, “Look, your sister-in-law has gone back to (B)her people and to her gods; (C)return after your sister-in-law.”

16 But Ruth said:

(D)“Entreat[a] me not to leave you,
Or to turn back from following after you;
For wherever you go, I will go;
And wherever you lodge, I will lodge;
(E)Your people shall be my people,
And your God, my God.
17 Where you die, I will die,
And there will I be buried.
(F)The Lord do so to me, and more also,
If anything but death parts you and me.”

15 And she saith, `Lo, thy sister-in-law hath turned back unto her people, and unto her god, turn thou back after thy sister-in-law.'

Ruth’s Loyalty

14 And they raised their voices and wept again; and Orpah kissed her mother-in-law, but Ruth clung to her.

15 Then she said, “Behold, your sister-in-law has gone back to her people and her (A)gods; return after your sister-in-law.” 16 But Ruth said, “Do not plead with me to leave you or to turn back from following you; for where you go, I will go, and where you sleep, I will sleep. Your people shall be my people, and your God, my God. 17 Where you die, I will die, and there I will be buried. May (B)the Lord do so to me, and worse, if anything but death separates [a]me from you.”
