Rut y Noemí
1 En los días en que los jueces gobernaban en Israel, hubo mucha hambre en la tierra, y un hombre de Belén de Judá emigró a los campos de Moab, junto con su mujer y sus dos hijos. 2 Ese hombre se llamaba Elimelec, y su mujer, Noemí; sus hijos se llamaban Majlón y Quelión, y habían nacido en Efrata, de Belén de Judá. Cuando llegaron a los campos de Moab, se quedaron a vivir allí.
3 Pero murió Elimelec, marido de Noemí, y ella se quedó sola con sus dos hijos. 4 Más tarde, ellos se casaron con unas moabitas, una de las cuales se llamaba Orfa, y la otra Rut, y se quedaron a vivir en Moab durante unos diez años. 5 Pero también murieron Majlón y Quelión, y Noemí se quedó desamparada, sin marido ni hijos.
6 Cuando Noemí se enteró de que el Señor había bendecido a su pueblo y que el hambre había terminado, decidió abandonar Moab junto con sus nueras. 7 Las tres mujeres salieron de donde habían vivido, y emprendieron el camino de vuelta a la tierra de Judá. 8 Pero Noemí les dijo a sus dos nueras:
«Es mejor que regresen a la casa de su madre. Que el Señor las trate con misericordia, tal y como ustedes nos trataron a mis hijos y a mí. 9 Que el Señor les conceda hallar reposo, cada una en casa de su propio marido.»
Luego las despidió con un beso, pero ellas se pusieron a llorar a voz en cuello 10 y le dijeron:
«Las dos nos queremos ir contigo a tu pueblo.»
11 Pero Noemí respondió:
«Regresen a su pueblo, hijas mías. No tiene caso que vengan conmigo, pues ya no tengo más hijos que puedan ser sus maridos. 12 ¡Váyanse, hijas mías! Yo ya estoy vieja para tener marido. Y aun cuando abrigara esa esperanza, y esta noche estuviera con un hombre y volviera a tener hijos, 13 ¿habrían de quedarse ustedes sin casar, por causa de ellos? ¡No, hijas mías! Mi amargura es mayor que la de ustedes, porque el Señor se ha puesto en mi contra.»
14 Pero ellas seguían llorando a voz en cuello. Y Orfa se despidió de su suegra con un beso, pero Rut se quedó con ella. 15 Entonces Noemí dijo:
«Mira a tu cuñada. Ya regresa a su pueblo, con sus dioses. ¡Regrésate también tú!»
16 Pero Rut le respondió:
«¡No me pidas que te deje y me aparte de ti!
A dondequiera que tú vayas, iré yo;
dondequiera que tú vivas, viviré.
Tu pueblo será mi pueblo, y tu Dios será mi Dios.
17 Donde tú mueras, moriré yo,
y allí quiero que me sepulten.
Que el Señor me castigue, y más aún,
si acaso llego a dejarte sola.
¡Sólo la muerte nos podrá separar!»
18 Y como Noemí vio que Rut estaba resuelta a ir con ella, no dijo más. 19 Y así, las dos siguieron caminando juntas hasta llegar a Belén. Y en cuanto entraron a la ciudad, hubo gran agitación entre toda la gente por causa de ellas, pues decían:
«¿Qué, no es ésta Noemí?»
20 Pero ella les respondió:
«Ya no me llamen Noemí.[a] Llámenme Mara.[b] Ciertamente, grande es la amargura que me ha hecho vivir el Todopoderoso. 21 Yo salí de aquí con las manos llenas, pero él me ha hecho volver con las manos vacías. ¿Por qué llamarme Noemí, si el Señor se ha puesto en mi contra, y mis aflicciones vienen del Todopoderoso?»
22 Fue así como Noemí volvió de Moab, acompañada de Rut, su nuera moabita. Llegaron a Belén cuando comenzaba la cosecha de la cebada.

1 在士师统治期间，国内发生了饥荒。有一个人带着妻子和两个儿子，从犹大的伯利恒前往摩押地去，寄居在那里。 2 这个人名叫以利米勒，妻子名叫拿俄米，两个儿子叫玛伦和基连，都是犹大伯利恒的以法他人。他们到了摩押地，就在那里住下来了。 3 后来拿俄米的丈夫以利米勒去世了，留下她和两个儿子。 4 他们娶了摩押女子作妻子，一个名叫俄耳巴，一个名叫路得。他们在那里住了约有十年。 5 后来，玛伦和基连二人也死了，留下拿俄米，既没有了两个儿子，又没有了丈夫。
拿俄米与路得同返伯利恒
6 拿俄米还在摩押地的时候，因为听说耶和华眷顾他的子民，赐粮食给他们，就带着两个媳妇动身从摩押地回来。 7 她离开居住的地方，两个媳妇也随她出发，要回到犹大地去。 8 拿俄米对两个媳妇说：“去吧，你们还是各自回娘家吧。愿耶和华恩待你们，像你们善待已死的人和我一样。 9 愿耶和华使你们各人有机会再嫁（“有机会再嫁”原文作“在丈夫家里”），找到归宿。”跟着亲吻她们，她们就发声大哭， 10 说：“不，我们一定要跟你一起回到你同胞那里去。” 11 拿俄米说：“我女儿啊，你们回去吧，为甚么要跟我去呢？我肚子里还有儿子作你们的丈夫吗？ 12 走吧，我女儿啊，你们回去吧，因为我太老，不能嫁人了，就算我说我还有希望今天晚上有个丈夫，又生儿子， 13 你们可以等到他们长大吗？你们可以为他们守节而不嫁人吗？不行，我女儿啊，我为你们非常难过，因为耶和华伸手对付我。” 14 她们又放声大哭。俄耳巴就和婆婆吻别，路得却舍不得离开拿俄米。
15 拿俄米说：“你看，你嫂嫂已经回到她同胞和她的神那里去了。你也跟着嫂嫂回去吧。” 16 路得说：“请不要逼我离开你回去，不跟从你。你到哪里去，我也要到哪里去；你在哪里过夜，我也要在哪里过夜；你的同胞就是我的同胞，你的 神就是我的 神； 17 你死在哪里，我也要死在哪里，葬在哪里。除非死亡把你我分离；如果我离开你，愿耶和华加倍惩罚我。” 18 拿俄米看路得坚决要跟她走，就不再多费唇舌了。
19 她们双双上路，来到伯利恒。她们到达的时候，全城都因她们的缘故骚动起来。妇女们说：“这是拿俄米吗？” 20 拿俄米对她们说：“不要叫我拿俄米，叫我玛拉吧，因为全能者使我吃尽了苦头。 21 我满满地出去，耶和华却使我空空地回来，你们为甚么还叫我拿俄米呢？耶和华折磨我，全能者加害于我。”
22 拿俄米就这样回来了。她媳妇摩押女子路得随着她从摩押地回来。她们到达伯利恒，正是开始收割大麦的时候。

La familia de Elimélec en Moab
1 En el tiempo en que Israel era gobernado por caudillos, hubo una época de hambre en toda la región. Entonces un hombre de Belén de Judá, llamado Elimélec, se fue a vivir por algún tiempo al país de Moab. Con él fueron también su esposa Noemí y sus dos hijos, Mahlón y Quilión. Todos ellos eran efrateos, es decir, de Belén. Llegaron, pues, a Moab, y se quedaron a vivir allí.
3 Pero sucedió que murió Elimélec, el marido de Noemí, y ella se quedó sola con sus dos hijos. 4 Más tarde, ellos se casaron con dos mujeres moabitas; una de ellas se llamaba Orfá y la otra Rut. Pero al cabo de unos diez años 5 murieron también Mahlón y Quilión, y Noemí se encontró desamparada, sin hijos y sin marido.

6 Un día Noemí oyó decir en Moab que el Señor se había compadecido de su pueblo y que había puesto fin a la época de hambre. 7 Entonces decidió volver a Judá y, acompañada de sus nueras, salió del lugar donde vivían; 8 pero en el camino les dijo:
—Anden, vuelvan a su casa, con su madre. Que el Señor las trate siempre con bondad, como también ustedes nos trataron a mí y a mis hijos, 9 y que les permita casarse otra vez y formar un hogar feliz.
Luego Noemí les dio un beso de despedida, pero ellas se echaron a llorar 10 y le dijeron:
—¡No! ¡Nosotras volveremos contigo a tu país!
11 Noemí insistió:
—Váyanse, hijas mías, ¿para qué quieren seguir conmigo? Yo ya no voy a tener más hijos que puedan casarse con ustedes. 12 Anden, vuelvan a su casa. Yo soy muy vieja para volverme a casar. Y aunque tuviera aún esa esperanza, y esta misma noche me casara y llegara a tener más hijos, 13 ¿iban ustedes a esperar hasta que fueran mayores, para casarse con ellos? ¿Se quedarían sin casar por esperarlos? No, hijas mías, de ninguna manera. El Señor me ha enviado amargos sufrimientos, pero más amarga sería mi pena si las viera sufrir a ustedes.
14 Ellas se pusieron a llorar nuevamente. Por fin, Orfá se despidió de su suegra con un beso, pero Rut se quedó con ella. 15 Entonces Noemí le dijo:
—Mira, tu concuñada se vuelve a su país y a sus dioses. Vete tú con ella.
16 Pero Rut le contestó:
—¡No me pidas que te deje y que me separe de ti! Iré a donde tú vayas, y viviré donde tú vivas. Tu pueblo será mi pueblo, y tu Dios será mi Dios. 17 Moriré donde tú mueras, y allí quiero ser enterrada. ¡Que el Señor me castigue con toda dureza si me separo de ti, a menos que sea por la muerte!
18 Al ver Noemí que Rut estaba decidida a acompañarla, no le insistió más, 19 y así las dos siguieron su camino hasta que llegaron a Belén.
Cuando entraron en Belén, hubo un gran revuelo en todo el pueblo. Las mujeres decían:
—¿No es ésta Noemí?
20 Pero ella les respondía:
—Ya no me llamen Noemí; llámenme Mará, porque el Dios todopoderoso me ha llenado de amargura. 21 Salí de aquí con las manos llenas, y ahora las traigo vacías porque así lo ha querido el Señor. ¿Por qué me llaman Noemí, si el Señor todopoderoso me ha condenado y afligido?
22 Así fue como Noemí volvió de Moab con Rut, su nuera moabita. Llegaron a Belén cuando comenzaba la cosecha de la cebada.

Naomi Loses Her Husband and Sons
1 In the days when the judges ruled,[a](A) there was a famine in the land.(B) So a man from Bethlehem in Judah,(C) together with his wife and two sons, went to live for a while(D) in the country of Moab.(E) 2 The man’s name was Elimelek,(F) his wife’s name was Naomi, and the names of his two sons were Mahlon and Kilion.(G) They were Ephrathites(H) from Bethlehem,(I) Judah. And they went to Moab and lived there.
3 Now Elimelek, Naomi’s husband, died, and she was left with her two sons. 4 They married Moabite women,(J) one named Orpah and the other Ruth.(K) After they had lived there about ten years, 5 both Mahlon and Kilion(L) also died,(M) and Naomi was left without her two sons and her husband.
Naomi and Ruth Return to Bethlehem
6 When Naomi heard in Moab(N) that the Lord had come to the aid of his people(O) by providing food(P) for them, she and her daughters-in-law(Q) prepared to return home from there. 7 With her two daughters-in-law she left the place where she had been living and set out on the road that would take them back to the land of Judah.
8 Then Naomi said to her two daughters-in-law, “Go back, each of you, to your mother’s home.(R) May the Lord show you kindness,(S) as you have shown kindness to your dead husbands(T) and to me. 9 May the Lord grant that each of you will find rest(U) in the home of another husband.”
Then she kissed(V) them goodbye and they wept aloud(W) 10 and said to her, “We will go back with you to your people.”
11 But Naomi said, “Return home, my daughters. Why would you come with me? Am I going to have any more sons, who could become your husbands?(X) 12 Return home, my daughters; I am too old to have another husband. Even if I thought there was still hope for me—even if I had a husband tonight and then gave birth to sons— 13 would you wait until they grew up?(Y) Would you remain unmarried for them? No, my daughters. It is more bitter(Z) for me than for you, because the Lord’s hand has turned against me!(AA)”
14 At this they wept(AB) aloud again. Then Orpah kissed her mother-in-law(AC) goodbye,(AD) but Ruth clung to her.(AE)
15 “Look,” said Naomi, “your sister-in-law(AF) is going back to her people and her gods.(AG) Go back with her.”
16 But Ruth replied, “Don’t urge me to leave you(AH) or to turn back from you. Where you go I will go,(AI) and where you stay I will stay. Your people will be my people(AJ) and your God my God.(AK) 17 Where you die I will die, and there I will be buried. May the Lord deal with me, be it ever so severely,(AL) if even death separates you and me.”(AM) 18 When Naomi realized that Ruth was determined to go with her, she stopped urging her.(AN)
19 So the two women went on until they came to Bethlehem.(AO) When they arrived in Bethlehem, the whole town was stirred(AP) because of them, and the women exclaimed, “Can this be Naomi?”
20 “Don’t call me Naomi,[b]” she told them. “Call me Mara,[c] because the Almighty[d](AQ) has made my life very bitter.(AR) 21 I went away full, but the Lord has brought me back empty.(AS) Why call me Naomi? The Lord has afflicted[e] me;(AT) the Almighty has brought misfortune upon me.”
22 So Naomi returned from Moab accompanied by Ruth the Moabite,(AU) her daughter-in-law,(AV) arriving in Bethlehem as the barley harvest(AW) was beginning.(AX)
