Romans 11:16-18

¹⁶And if the first-fruit is holy, so is the lump: and if the root is holy, so are the branches. ¹⁷But if some of the branches were broken off, and thou, being a wild olive, wast grafted in among them, and didst become partaker with them ^[a]of the root of the fatness of the olive tree; ¹⁸glory not over the branches: but if thou gloriest, it is not thou that bearest the root, but the root thee.

¹⁷Pero si algunas de las ramas fueron desgajadas, y tú, siendo un olivo silvestre^(B), fuiste injertado entre ellas y fuiste hecho participante con ellas de la rica savia de la raíz^[a] del olivo, ¹⁸no seas arrogante para con las ramas. ¹⁶If the part of the dough offered as firstfruits^(A) is holy, then the whole batch is holy; if the root is holy, so are the branches.

¹⁷If some of the branches have been broken off,^(B) and you, though a wild olive shoot, have been grafted in among the others^(C) and now share in the nourishing sap from the olive root, ¹⁸do not consider yourself to be superior to those other branches. If you do, consider this: You do not support the root, but the root supports you.^(D)
