For I tell you that the Messiah[a] became a servant of the circumcised on behalf of God’s truth in order to confirm the promises given to our ancestors, so that the gentiles may glorify God for his mercy. As it is written,

“That is why I will praise[b] you among the gentiles;
    I will sing praises to your name.”[c]

10 Again he says,[d]

“Rejoice, you gentiles, with his people!”[e]

11 And again,

“Praise the Lord,[f] all you gentiles!
    Let all the nations[g] praise him.”[h]

12 And again, Isaiah says,

“There will be a Root[i] from Jesse.
    He will rise up to rule the gentiles,
        and the gentiles will hope in him.”[j]

13 Now may God, the source of hope, fill you with all joy and peace as you believe, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.

“Therefore I will praise you among the Gentiles;

11 And again,

“Praise the Lord, all you Gentiles;
    let all the peoples extol him.”[d](G)

12 And again, Isaiah says,

“The Root of Jesse(H) will spring up,
    one who will arise to rule over the nations;

13 May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace(J) as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.(K)
