Il giusto giudizio di Dio
2 (A)Perciò, o uomo, chiunque tu sia che giudichi, sei inescusabile; perché nel giudicare gli altri condanni te stesso; infatti tu che giudichi, fai le stesse cose. 2 Ora noi sappiamo che il giudizio di Dio su quelli che fanno tali cose è conforme a verità. 3 Pensi tu, o uomo, che giudichi quelli che fanno tali cose e le fai tu stesso, di scampare al giudizio di Dio? 4 Oppure disprezzi le ricchezze della sua bontà, della sua pazienza e della sua costanza, non riconoscendo che la bontà di Dio ti spinge al ravvedimento? 5 Tu, invece, con la tua ostinazione e con l'impenitenza del tuo cuore, ti accumuli un tesoro d'ira per il giorno dell'ira e della rivelazione del giusto giudizio di Dio. 6 Egli renderà a ciascuno secondo le sue opere: 7 vita eterna a quelli che con perseveranza nel fare il bene cercano gloria, onore e immortalità; 8 ma ira e indignazione a quelli che, per spirito di contesa, invece di ubbidire alla verità ubbidiscono all'ingiustizia. 9 Tribolazione e angoscia sopra ogni uomo che fa il male; sul Giudeo prima e poi sul Greco; 10 ma gloria, onore e pace a chiunque opera bene; al Giudeo prima e poi al Greco; 11 perché davanti a Dio non c'è favoritismo.
12 Infatti, tutti coloro che hanno peccato senza legge periranno pure senza legge; e tutti coloro che hanno peccato avendo la legge saranno giudicati in base a quella legge; 13 perché non quelli che ascoltano la legge sono giusti davanti a Dio, ma quelli che l'osservano saranno giustificati. 14 Infatti quando degli stranieri, che non hanno legge, adempiono per natura le cose richieste dalla legge, essi, che non hanno legge, sono legge a sé stessi; 15 essi dimostrano che quanto la legge comanda è scritto nei loro cuori, perché la loro coscienza ne rende testimonianza e i loro pensieri si accusano o anche si scusano a vicenda. 16 Tutto ciò si vedrà nel giorno in cui Dio giudicherà i segreti degli uomini per mezzo di Gesú Cristo, secondo il mio *vangelo.
Responsabilità dei Giudei davanti a Dio
17 (B)Ora, se tu ti chiami Giudeo, ti riposi sulla legge, ti vanti in Dio, 18 conosci la sua volontà, e sai distinguere ciò che è meglio[a], essendo istruito dalla legge, 19 e ti persuadi di essere guida dei ciechi, luce di quelli che sono nelle tenebre, 20 educatore degli insensati, maestro dei fanciulli, perché hai nella legge la formula della conoscenza e della verità; 21 come mai dunque, tu che insegni agli altri non insegni a te stesso? Tu che predichi: «Non rubare!» rubi? 22 Tu che dici: «Non commettere adulterio!» commetti adulterio? Tu che detesti gli idoli, ne spogli i templi? 23 Tu che ti vanti della legge, disonori Dio *trasgredendo la legge? 24 Infatti, com’è scritto:
«Il nome di Dio è bestemmiato per causa vostra fra gli stranieri»[b].
25 (C)La circoncisione è utile se tu osservi la legge; ma se tu sei trasgressore della legge, la tua circoncisione diventa incirconcisione. 26 Se l’*incirconciso osserva le prescrizioni della legge, la sua incirconcisione non sarà considerata come circoncisione? 27 Così colui che è per natura incirconciso, se adempie la legge, giudicherà te, che con la lettera e la circoncisione sei un trasgressore della legge. 28 Giudeo infatti non è colui che è tale all’esterno; e la circoncisione[c] non è quella esterna, nella carne; 29 ma Giudeo è colui che lo è interiormente; e la circoncisione è quella del cuore, nello spirito, non nella lettera; di un tale Giudeo la lode proviene non dagli uomini, ma da Dio.

Ang Makatarungang Hatol ng Diyos
2 Kaya't (A) wala kang maidadahilan, sino ka mang humahatol sa iba. Sapagkat sa paghatol mo sa iba ay hinahatulan mo rin ang iyong sarili, sapagkat ikaw na humahatol ay gumagawa rin ng gayon. 2 Nalalaman nating batay sa katotohanan ang hatol ng Diyos sa mga taong gumagawa ng gayon. 3 Kaya ikaw, tao, akala mo ba'y makatatakas ka sa hatol ng Diyos kung humahatol ka sa iba ngunit gumagawa ka rin ng masasamang gawaing hinahatulan mo? 4 O baka naman sinasamantala mo ang yaman ng kabutihan, pagtitiis at pagtitiyaga ng Diyos? Hindi mo ba naunawaan na ang kabutihan ng Diyos ang nag-aakay sa iyo tungo sa pagsisisi? 5 Ngunit dahil matigas ang iyong ulo at ang puso mo'y ayaw magsisi, lalo mong pinabibigat ang parusang igagawad sa iyo sa araw ng poot ng Diyos, kung kailan ihahayag niya ang kanyang makatarungang paghatol. 6 Igagawad (B) niya sa mga tao ang naaayon sa kanilang mga ginawa. 7 Ipagkakaloob naman ng Diyos ang buhay na walang hanggan sa mga taong nagtitiyaga sa paggawa ng mabuti, naghahanap ng karangalan, kadakilaan at ng kawalang kamatayan. 8 Ngunit matinding galit at poot ang sasapitin ng mga makasarili at sumusunod sa kasamaan sa halip na sa katotohanan. 9 Pagdurusa at pighati ang daranasin ng bawat taong gumagawa ng masama, una ang mga Judio at gayundin ang mga Griyego. 10 Subalit karangalan, kapurihan, at kapayapaan naman sa bawat gumagawa ng mabuti, una ang mga Judio at gayundin ang mga Griyego. 11 Sapagkat (C) ang Diyos ay walang kinikilingan. 12 Ang lahat ng nagkasala na hindi saklaw ng Kautusan ay hahatulan nang hindi ayon sa Kautusan. At ang lahat ng nagkasala sa ilalim ng Kautusan ay hahatulan ayon sa Kautusan. 13 Sapagkat hindi ang mga nakikinig kundi ang tumutupad sa Kautusan ang ituturing na matuwid sa harapan ng Diyos. 14 Kapag ang mga Hentil, na walang Kautusan, ay nakagagawa ng mga bagay na itinatakda ng Kautusan, dahil sa likas nilang kaalaman, ang mga ito'y nagiging Kautusan na para sa kanila bagama't wala silang Kautusan. 15 Ipinapakita ng kanilang mga gawa na nakasulat sa kanilang mga puso ang mga itinatakda ng Kautusan. Pinapatunayan din ito ng kanilang budhi, na sa kanila'y manunumbat at magtatanggol. 16 Magaganap ito sa araw ng paghatol ng Diyos sa lihim ng mga tao sa pamamagitan ni Cristo Jesus. Ito'y naaayon sa ebanghelyong aking ipinapangaral.
Ang mga Judio at ang Kautusan
17 Ngayon, kung sinasabi mong ikaw ay isang Judio at nananalig sa Kautusan, at ipinagmamalaki mo ang kaugnayan mo sa Diyos, 18 ikaw na palibhasa'y naturuan sa Kautusan ay nagsasabing nakaaalam ng kanyang kalooban, at sumasang-ayon sa mabubuting bagay, 19 ang palagay mo'y tagaakay ka ng mga bulag at tanglaw ka ng mga nasa kadiliman, 20 tagapayo ng mga hangal, at tagapagturo ng mga bata, dahil natutuhan mo sa Kautusan ang pinakadiwa ng kaalaman at katotohanan, 21 ikaw na nagtuturo sa iba, bakit hindi mo turuan ang iyong sarili? Nangangaral kang huwag magnakaw, bakit ka nagnanakaw? 22 Ikaw na nagsasabing huwag mangalunya, bakit ka nangangalunya? Ikaw na nasusuklam sa mga diyus-diyosan, bakit mo ninanakawan ang mga templo? 23 Ipinagmamalaki mo ang Kautusan, ngunit nilalapastangan mo naman ang Diyos sa pamamagitan ng pagsuway mo sa Kautusan. 24 Gaya ng nasusulat, (D) “Nilalapastangan ng mga Hentil ang pangalan ng Diyos dahil sa inyo.” 25 Totoong mahalaga ang pagiging tuli kung tinutupad mo ang Kautusan. Ngunit kung lumalabag ka sa Kautusan, para ka ring hindi tuli. 26 Kaya't kung ang mga hindi tuli ay tumutupad sa mga itinatakda ng Kautusan, hindi ba maibibilang na rin silang parang mga tuli? 27 Kaya't siya na hindi tuli, subalit namumuhay ayon sa Kautusan, ang hahatol sa iyo, na tuli at mayroong Kautusang nakasulat, subalit sinusuway naman ito. 28 Sapagkat ang pagiging tunay na Judio ay hindi sa panlabas lamang, at ang tunay na pagtutuli ay hindi dahil tinuli ka sa laman. 29 Ang (E) pagiging tunay na Judio ay nasa kalooban. At ang tunay na pagtutuli nama'y pagtutuli sa puso, sa pamamagitan ng Espiritu at hindi ng nakasulat na Kautusan. Ang karangalan ng taong iyon ay hindi mula sa mga tao kundi mula sa Diyos.

2 Therefore thou art inexcusable, O man, whosoever thou art that judgest: for wherein thou judgest another, thou condemnest thyself; for thou that judgest doest the same things.
2 But we are sure that the judgment of God is according to truth against them which commit such things.
3 And thinkest thou this, O man, that judgest them which do such things, and doest the same, that thou shalt escape the judgment of God?
4 Or despisest thou the riches of his goodness and forbearance and longsuffering; not knowing that the goodness of God leadeth thee to repentance?
5 But after thy hardness and impenitent heart treasurest up unto thyself wrath against the day of wrath and revelation of the righteous judgment of God;
6 Who will render to every man according to his deeds:
7 To them who by patient continuance in well doing seek for glory and honour and immortality, eternal life:
8 But unto them that are contentious, and do not obey the truth, but obey unrighteousness, indignation and wrath,
9 Tribulation and anguish, upon every soul of man that doeth evil, of the Jew first, and also of the Gentile;
10 But glory, honour, and peace, to every man that worketh good, to the Jew first, and also to the Gentile:
11 For there is no respect of persons with God.
12 For as many as have sinned without law shall also perish without law: and as many as have sinned in the law shall be judged by the law;
13 (For not the hearers of the law are just before God, but the doers of the law shall be justified.
14 For when the Gentiles, which have not the law, do by nature the things contained in the law, these, having not the law, are a law unto themselves:
15 Which shew the work of the law written in their hearts, their conscience also bearing witness, and their thoughts the mean while accusing or else excusing one another;)
16 In the day when God shall judge the secrets of men by Jesus Christ according to my gospel.
17 Behold, thou art called a Jew, and restest in the law, and makest thy boast of God,
18 And knowest his will, and approvest the things that are more excellent, being instructed out of the law;
19 And art confident that thou thyself art a guide of the blind, a light of them which are in darkness,
20 An instructor of the foolish, a teacher of babes, which hast the form of knowledge and of the truth in the law.
21 Thou therefore which teachest another, teachest thou not thyself? thou that preachest a man should not steal, dost thou steal?
22 Thou that sayest a man should not commit adultery, dost thou commit adultery? thou that abhorrest idols, dost thou commit sacrilege?
23 Thou that makest thy boast of the law, through breaking the law dishonourest thou God?
24 For the name of God is blasphemed among the Gentiles through you, as it is written.
25 For circumcision verily profiteth, if thou keep the law: but if thou be a breaker of the law, thy circumcision is made uncircumcision.
26 Therefore if the uncircumcision keep the righteousness of the law, shall not his uncircumcision be counted for circumcision?
27 And shall not uncircumcision which is by nature, if it fulfil the law, judge thee, who by the letter and circumcision dost transgress the law?
28 For he is not a Jew, which is one outwardly; neither is that circumcision, which is outward in the flesh:
29 But he is a Jew, which is one inwardly; and circumcision is that of the heart, in the spirit, and not in the letter; whose praise is not of men, but of God.

Deus julga as pessoas
2 Meu amigo, não importa quem você seja, você não tem desculpa quando julga os outros. Pois, quando você os julga, mas faz as mesmas coisas que eles fazem, você está condenando a você mesmo. 2 Nós sabemos que Deus é justo quando condena os que fazem essas coisas. 3 Mas você, que faz as mesmas coisas que condena nos outros, será que você pensa que escapará do julgamento de Deus? 4 Ou será que você despreza a grande bondade, a tolerância e a paciência de Deus? Você sabe muito bem que ele é bom e que quer fazer com que você mude de vida. 5 Mas o seu coração é duro e teimoso. Por isso você está aumentando ainda mais o castigo que vai sofrer no dia em que forem revelados a ira e os julgamentos justos de Deus, 6 pois ele recompensará cada um de acordo com o que fez. 7 Deus dará a vida eterna às pessoas que perseveram em fazer o bem e buscam a glória, a honra e a vida imortal. 8 Mas fará cair a sua ira e o seu castigo sobre os egoístas e sobre os que rejeitam o que é justo a fim de seguir o que é mau. 9 Haverá sofrimentos e aflições para todos os que fazem o mal, primeiro para os judeus e também para os não judeus. 10 Mas Deus dará glória, honra e paz a todos os que fazem o bem, primeiro aos judeus e também aos não judeus. 11 Pois ele trata a todos com igualdade.
12 Todos aqueles que pecam sem conhecer a lei de Deus se perderão sem essa lei; mas todos aqueles que pecam conhecendo a lei serão julgados por ela. 13 Porque as pessoas que Deus aceita não são aquelas que somente ouvem a lei, mas aquelas que fazem o que a lei manda. 14 Os não judeus não têm a lei. Mas, quando fazem pela sua própria vontade o que a lei manda, eles são a sua própria lei, embora não tenham a lei. 15 Eles mostram, pela sua maneira de agir, que têm a lei escrita no seu coração. A própria consciência deles mostra que isso é verdade, e os seus pensamentos, que às vezes os acusam e às vezes os defendem, também mostram isso. 16 E, de acordo com o evangelho que eu anuncio, assim será naquele dia em que Deus, por meio de Cristo Jesus, julgará os pensamentos secretos de todas as pessoas.
Os judeus e a lei
17 O que dizer de você? Você diz que é judeu, confia na lei e se orgulha do Deus que você adora. 18 Você sabe o que Deus quer que você faça e aprende na lei a escolher o que é certo.
19 Você tem a certeza de que é guia dos cegos, luz para os que estão na escuridão, 20 orientador dos que não têm instrução e professor dos jovens. Você está certo de que encontra na lei a apresentação completa do conhecimento e da verdade. 21 Você, que ensina os outros, por que é que não ensina a você mesmo? Se afirma que não se deve roubar, por que é que você mesmo rouba? 22 Se você diz que não se deve cometer adultério, por que é que você mesmo comete adultério? Você odeia os ídolos, mas rouba as coisas dos templos. 23 Você se orgulha de ter a lei de Deus, mas você é uma vergonha para Deus porque desobedece à sua lei. 24 Pois as Escrituras Sagradas dizem: “Os não judeus falam mal de Deus por causa de vocês, os judeus.”
25 A circuncisão tem valor se você, que é judeu, obedecer à lei; porém, se não obedecer, é como se você não tivesse sido circuncidado. 26 E, se um homem que não foi circuncidado obedecer aos mandamentos da lei, Deus o tratará como se ele fosse circuncidado. 27 Assim vocês, judeus, serão condenados pelos não judeus, pois vocês desobedecem à lei apesar de terem essa lei escrita e de serem circuncidados, enquanto que os não judeus obedecem à lei, embora não sejam circuncidados. 28 Portanto, eu pergunto: quem é judeu de fato e circuncidado de verdade? É claro que não é aquele que é judeu somente por fora e circuncidado só no corpo. 29 Pelo contrário, o verdadeiro judeu é aquele que é judeu por dentro, aquele que tem o coração circuncidado; e isso é uma coisa que o Espírito de Deus faz e que a lei escrita não pode fazer. E o louvor que essa pessoa recebe não vem de seres humanos, mas vem de Deus.
