⁸ Those who are in the flesh cannot please God.

⁵ Jesus answered, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born ^(A)of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God. ^6 (B)That which is born of the flesh is ^(C)flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.^[a]

⁵ By faith ^(A)Enoch was taken up so that he should not see death, and he was not found, because God had taken him. Now before he was taken he was commended as having pleased God. ⁶ And without faith it is impossible to please him, for whoever would draw near to God ^(B)must believe that he exists and ^(C)that he rewards those who seek him.

⁹ You, however, are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if in fact ^(A)the Spirit of God dwells in you. ^(B)Anyone who does not have ^(C)the Spirit of Christ does not belong to him.

⁵ For while we were living in the flesh, our sinful passions, aroused by the law, were at work ^(A)in our members ^(B)to bear fruit for death.

¹⁰ so as ^(A)to walk in a manner worthy of the Lord, ^(B)fully pleasing to him: ^(C)bearing fruit in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God;

³ Jesus answered him, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is ^(A)born ^(B)again^[a] he cannot ^(C)see the kingdom of God.”

²² and ^(A)whatever we ask we receive from him, because we keep his commandments and ^(B)do what pleases him.

^21 (A)equip you with everything good that you may do his will, ^(B)working in us^[a] that which is pleasing in his sight, through Jesus Christ, ^(C)to whom be glory forever and ever. Amen.
