¹³ for ^(A)if you are living in accord with the flesh, you are going to die; but if by the Spirit you are ^(B)putting to death the deeds of the body, you will live.

¹¹ and in Him ^(A)you were also circumcised with a circumcision performed without hands, in the removal of ^(B)the body of the flesh by the circumcision of Christ,

^5 (A)Therefore, ^[a]treat ^(B)the parts of your earthly body as dead to ^(C)sexual immorality, impurity, passion, evil desire, and greed, which ^[b]amounts to idolatry.

⁸ But now you also, ^(A)rid yourselves of all of them: ^(B)anger, wrath, malice, slander, and ^(C)obscene speech from your mouth. ^9 [a](D)Do not lie to one another, since you ^(E)stripped off the old ^[b]self with its evil practices,

²² that, in reference to your former way of life, you are to ^(A)rid yourselves of the ^(B)old ^[a]self, which is being corrupted in accordance with the ^(C)lusts of deceit,

²⁴ Now those who ^[a]belong to ^(A)Christ Jesus ^(B)crucified the flesh with its passions and ^(C)desires.

Christ Is Our Example

²¹ For ^(A)you have been called for this purpose, ^(B)because Christ also suffered for you, leaving you ^(C)an example, so that you would follow in His steps,

Keep Fervent in Your Love

4 Therefore, since ^(A)Christ has ^[a]suffered in the flesh, ^(B)arm yourselves also with the same purpose, because ^(C)the one who has ^[b]suffered in the flesh has ceased from sin, ^2 (D)so as to live ^(E)the rest of the time in the flesh no longer for human lusts, but for the ^(F)will of God.

⁸ the one who practices sin is ^(A)of the devil; for the devil ^[a]has been sinning from the beginning. ^(B)The Son of God ^(C)appeared for this purpose, ^(D)to destroy the works of the devil.
