² For ^(A)a married woman is bound by law to her husband while he lives, but if her husband dies she is released from the law of marriage.^[a]

²³ Then the man said,

^24 (C)Therefore a man shall leave his father and his mother and hold fast to his wife, and they shall become one flesh.

^39 (A)A wife is bound to her husband as long as he lives. But if her husband dies, she is free to be married to whom she wishes, only ^(B)in the Lord.

⁴ For the wife does not have authority over her own body, but the husband does. Likewise the husband does not have authority over his own body, but the wife does.

⁷ and her husband hears of it and says nothing to her on the day that he hears, then her vows shall stand, and her pledges by which she has bound herself shall stand. ⁸ But if, on the day that her husband comes to hear of it, he opposes her, then he makes void her ^(A)vow that was on her, and the thoughtless utterance of her lips by which she bound herself. ^(B)And the Lord will forgive her.
