⁴ We were ^(A)buried therefore with him by baptism into death, in order that, just as ^(B)Christ was raised from the dead by ^(C)the glory of the Father, we too might walk in ^(D)newness of life.

¹⁷ Therefore, if anyone is ^(A)in Christ, he is ^(B)a new creation.^{[a] (C)}The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.

¹⁰ and ^(A)have put on ^(B)the new self, ^(C)which is being renewed in knowledge ^(D)after the image of ^(E)its creator.

⁶ But now we are released from the law, having died to that which held us captive, so that we serve in the ^(A)new way of ^(B)the Spirit and not in the old way of the written code.^[a]

²² to ^(A)put off ^(B)your old self,^[a] which belongs to your former manner of life and is corrupt through ^(C)deceitful desires, ²³ and ^(D)to be renewed in the spirit of your minds, ²⁴ and to put on ^(E)the new self, ^(F)created after the likeness of God in true righteousness and holiness.

²¹ Baptism, which corresponds to this, ^(A)now saves you, not as a removal of dirt from the body but ^(B)as an appeal to God for a good conscience, ^(C)through the resurrection of Jesus Christ,

⁴ For ^(A)he was crucified in weakness, but ^(B)lives by the power of God. For ^(C)we also are weak in him, but in dealing with you ^(D)we will live with him by the power of God.

⁴ by which he has granted to us his precious and very great promises, so that through them you may become ^(A)partakers of the divine nature, ^(B)having escaped from the corruption that is in the world because of sinful desire. ⁵ For this very reason, make every effort to supplement your faith ^(C)with virtue,^[a] and virtue ^(D)with knowledge, ⁶ and knowledge with self-control, and self-control ^(E)with steadfastness, and steadfastness with godliness, ⁷ and godliness ^(F)with brotherly affection, and brotherly affection ^(G)with love. ⁸ For if these qualities^[b] are yours and are increasing, they keep you from being ineffective or ^(H)unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. ⁹ For whoever lacks these qualities is so nearsighted that he ^(I)is blind, having forgotten that he was ^(J)cleansed from his former sins.

⁹ We know that ^(A)Christ, being raised from the dead, will never die again; ^(B)death no longer has dominion over him.
