¹⁸ Therefore just as one man’s trespass led to condemnation for all, so one man’s act of righteousness leads to justification and life for all.

²² for as all die in Adam, so all will be made alive in Christ.

Adam and Christ

¹² Therefore, just as sin came into the world through one man, and death came through sin, and so death spread to all because all have sinned^(A)—

¹⁹ For just as through the one man’s disobedience the many were made sinners, so through the one man’s obedience the many will be made righteous.

¹⁵ But the free gift is not like the trespass. For if the many died through the one man’s trespass, much more surely have the grace of God and the gift in the grace of the one man, Jesus Christ, abounded for the many.

³⁹ by this Jesus^[a] everyone who believes is set free from all those sins^[b] from which you could not be freed by the law of Moses.^(A)

⁴ who desires everyone to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.^{(A) 5} For

⁹ but we do see Jesus, who for a little while was made lower^[a] than the angels, now crowned with glory and honor because of the suffering of death, so that by the grace of God^[b] he might taste death for everyone.^(A)

²⁵ who was handed over for our trespasses and was raised for our justification.^(A)

⁷ He came as a witness to testify to the light, so that all might believe through him.
