^12 (A)The night is far gone; the day is at hand. So then let us ^(B)cast off ^(C)the works of darkness and ^(D)put on the armor of light.

^31 (A)Cast away from you all the transgressions that you have committed, and ^(B)make yourselves a new heart and a new spirit! ^(C)Why will you die, O house of Israel? ^32 (D)For I have no pleasure in the death of anyone, declares the Lord God; ^(E)so turn, and live.”

^11 (A)Take no part in the ^(B)unfruitful ^(C)works of darkness, but instead ^(D)expose them.

⁷ by ^(A)truthful speech, and ^(B)the power of God; with ^(C)the weapons of righteousness for the right hand and for the left;

²¹ Therefore ^(A)put away all filthiness and rampant wickedness and receive with ^(B)meekness the implanted word, ^(C)which is able to save your souls.

^11 (A)Put on ^(B)the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against ^(C)the schemes of the devil. ¹² For ^(D)we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against ^(E)the rulers, against the authorities, against ^(F)the cosmic powers over ^(G)this present darkness, against ^(H)the spiritual forces of evil ^(I)in the heavenly places. ¹³ Therefore ^(J)take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in ^(K)the evil day, and having done all, to stand firm. ¹⁴ Stand therefore, ^(L)having fastened on the belt of truth, and ^(M)having put on the breastplate of righteousness, ¹⁵ and, ^(N)as shoes for your feet, having put on the readiness given by the gospel of peace. ¹⁶ In all circumstances take up ^(O)the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all ^(P)the flaming darts of ^(Q)the evil one; ¹⁷ and take ^(R)the helmet of salvation, and ^(S)the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God, ¹⁸ praying ^(T)at all times ^(U)in the Spirit, ^(V)with all prayer and supplication. To that end, ^(W)keep alert with all perseverance, making ^(X)supplication for all the saints,

⁸ But now ^(A)you must put them all away: ^(B)anger, wrath, malice, ^(C)slander, and obscene talk from your mouth. ^9 (D)Do not lie to one another, seeing that ^(E)you have put off ^(F)the old self^[a] with its practices ¹⁰ and ^(G)have put on ^(H)the new self, ^(I)which is being renewed in knowledge ^(J)after the image of ^(K)its creator. ^11 (L)Here there is not Greek and Jew, circumcised and uncircumcised, barbarian, Scythian, slave,^[b] free; but Christ is ^(M)all, and in all.

^12 (N)Put on then, as ^(O)God's chosen ones, holy and beloved, ^(P)compassionate hearts, ^(Q)kindness, ^(R)humility, meekness, and patience, ^13 (S)bearing with one another and, ^(T)if one has a complaint against another, ^(U)forgiving each other; ^(V)as the Lord has forgiven you, so you also must forgive. ¹⁴ And above all these put on ^(W)love, which ^(X)binds everything together in ^(Y)perfect harmony. ¹⁵ And let ^(Z)the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called ^(AA)in one body. And ^(AB)be thankful. ¹⁶ Let ^(AC)the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, ^(AD)singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, ^(AE)with thankfulness in your hearts to God. ¹⁷ And ^(AF)whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, ^(AG)giving thanks to God the Father through him.

²² Then you will defile your carved idols overlaid with silver and your gold-plated metal images. ^(A)You will scatter them as unclean things. You will say to them, “Be gone!”
