Eithr yn ôl dy galedrwydd, a’th galon ddiedifeiriol, wyt yn trysori i ti dy hun ddigofaint erbyn dydd y digofaint, a datguddiad cyfiawn farn Duw, Yr hwn a dâl i bob un yn ôl ei weithredoedd: Sef i’r rhai trwy barhau yn gwneuthur da, a geisiant ogoniant, ac anrhydedd, ac anllygredigaeth, bywyd tragwyddol: Eithr i’r rhai sydd gynhennus, ac anufudd i’r gwirionedd, eithr yn ufudd i anghyfiawnder, y bydd llid a digofaint; Trallod ac ing ar bob enaid dyn sydd yn gwneuthur drwg; yr Iddew yn gyntaf, a’r Groegwr hefyd: 10 Eithr gogoniant, ac anrhydedd, a thangnefedd, i bob un sydd yn gwneuthur daioni; i’r Iddew yn gyntaf, ac i’r Groegwr hefyd. 11 Canys nid oes derbyn wyneb gerbron Duw. 12 Oblegid cynifer ag a bechasant yn ddi‐ddeddf, a gyfrgollir hefyd yn ddi‐ddeddf; a chynifer ag a bechasant yn y ddeddf, a fernir wrth y ddeddf; 13 (Canys nid gwrandawyr y ddeddf sydd gyfiawn gerbron Duw, ond gwneuthurwyr y ddeddf a gyfiawnheir. 14 Canys pan yw’r Cenhedloedd y rhai nid yw’r ddeddf ganddynt, wrth naturiaeth yn gwneuthur y pethau sydd yn y ddeddf, y rhai hyn heb fod y ddeddf ganddynt, ydynt ddeddf iddynt eu hunain: 15 Y rhai sydd yn dangos gweithred y ddeddf yn ysgrifenedig yn eu calonnau, a’u cydwybod yn cyd‐dystiolaethu, a’u meddyliau yn cyhuddo ei gilydd, neu yn esgusodi;) 16 Yn y dydd y barno Duw ddirgeloedd dynion, yn ôl fy efengyl i, trwy Iesu Grist. 17 Wele, Iddew y’th elwir di, ac yr wyt yn gorffwys yn y ddeddf, ac yn gorfoleddu yn Nuw; 18 Ac yn gwybod ei ewyllys ef, ac yn darbod pethau rhagorol, gan fod wedi dy addysgu o’r ddeddf; 19 Ac yr wyt yn coelio dy fod yn dywysog i’r deillion, yn llewyrch i’r rhai sydd mewn tywyllwch, 20 Yn athro i’r angall, yn ddysgawdwr i’r rhai bach, a chennyt ffurf y gwybodaeth a’r gwirionedd yn y ddeddf. 21 Tydi, gan hynny, yr hwn wyt yn addysgu arall, oni’th ddysgi dy hun? yr hwn wyt yn pregethu, Na ladrater, a ladreti di? 22 Yr hwn wyt yn dywedyd, Na odineber, a odinebi di? yr hwn wyt yn ffieiddio delwau, a gysegrysbeili di? 23 Yr hwn wyt yn gorfoleddu yn y ddeddf, trwy dorri’r ddeddf a ddianrhydeddi di Dduw? 24 Canys enw Duw o’ch plegid chwi a geblir ymhlith y Cenhedloedd, megis y mae yn ysgrifenedig. 25 Canys enwaediad yn wir a wna les, os cedwi y ddeddf: eithr os troseddwr y ddeddf ydwyt, aeth dy enwaediad yn ddienwaediad. 26 Os y dienwaediad gan hynny a geidw gyfiawnderau y ddeddf, oni chyfrifir ei ddienwaediad ef yn enwaediad? 27 Ac oni bydd i’r dienwaediad yr hwn sydd o naturiaeth, os ceidw y ddeddf, dy farnu di, yr hwn wrth y llythyren a’r enwaediad wyt yn troseddu’r ddeddf? 28 Canys nid yr hwn sydd yn yr amlwg sydd Iddew; ac nid enwaediad yw yr hwn sydd yn yr amlwg yn y cnawd: 29 Eithr yr hwn sydd yn y dirgel sydd Iddew; ac enwaediad y galon sydd yn yr ysbryd, nid yn y llythyren; yr hwn y mae ei glod nid o ddynion, ond o Dduw.

God’s Righteous Judgment

Therefore, every one of you[a](A) who judges is without excuse.(B) For when you judge another,(C) you condemn yourself, since you, the judge, do the same things. Now we know that God’s judgment on those who do such things is based on the truth. Do you think—anyone of you who judges those who do such things yet do the same—that you will escape God’s judgment? Or do you despise the riches of his kindness,(D) restraint,(E) and patience,(F) not recognizing[b] that God’s kindness(G) is intended to lead you to repentance? Because of your hardened and unrepentant heart you are storing up wrath(H) for yourself in the day of wrath,(I) when God’s righteous judgment is revealed. He will repay each one according to his works:[c](J) eternal life(K) to those who by persistence in doing good(L) seek glory, honor,(M) and immortality;(N) but wrath and anger to those who are self-seeking(O) and disobey the truth(P) while obeying unrighteousness. There will be affliction and distress(Q) for every human being who does evil, first to the Jew, and also to the Greek;(R) 10 but glory, honor, and peace for everyone who does what is good, first to the Jew, and also to the Greek. 11 For there is no favoritism with God.(S)

12 For all who sin without the law(T) will also perish without the law, and all who sin under[d] the law will be judged by the law. 13 For the hearers of the law(U) are not righteous before God, but the doers of the law will be justified.[e] 14 So, when Gentiles, who do not by nature have the law,(V) do[f] what the law demands, they are a law to themselves even though they do not have the law. 15 They show that the work of the law[g] is written on their hearts.(W) Their consciences confirm this. Their competing thoughts either accuse or even excuse them[h] 16 on the day when God judges(X) what people have kept secret, according to my gospel through Christ Jesus.(Y)

Jewish Violation of the Law

17 Now if[i] you call yourself a Jew, and rely on the law,(Z) and boast in God, 18 and know his will, and approve the things that are superior,(AA) being instructed from the law, 19 and if you are convinced that you are a guide for the blind, a light to those in darkness, 20 an instructor of the ignorant, a teacher of the immature, having the embodiment of knowledge and truth(AB) in the law— 21 you then, who teach another,(AC) don’t you teach yourself? You who preach, “You must not steal”—do you steal? 22 You who say, “You must not commit adultery”—do you commit adultery? You who detest idols, do you rob temples?(AD) 23 You who boast in the law,(AE) do you dishonor God by breaking the law?[j] 24 For, as it is written: The name of God is blasphemed among the Gentiles because of you.[k](AF)

Circumcision of the Heart

25 Circumcision benefits you if you observe the law, but if you are a lawbreaker, your circumcision has become uncircumcision.(AG) 26 So if an uncircumcised(AH) man keeps the law’s requirements,(AI) will not his uncircumcision be counted as circumcision? 27 A man who is physically uncircumcised, but who keeps the law, will judge you(AJ) who are a lawbreaker in spite of having the letter of the law and circumcision. 28 For a person is not a Jew who is one outwardly,(AK) and true circumcision is not something visible in the flesh. 29 On the contrary, a person is a Jew who is one inwardly,(AL) and circumcision is of the heart—by the Spirit, not the letter.[l](AM) That person’s praise is not from people but from God.(AN)

God’s Righteous Judgment

Therefore you are (A)inexcusable, O man, whoever you are who judge, (B)for in whatever you judge another you condemn yourself; for you who judge practice the same things. But we know that the judgment of God is according to truth against those who practice such things. And do you think this, O man, you who judge those practicing such things, and doing the same, that you will escape the judgment of God? Or do you despise (C)the riches of His goodness, (D)forbearance, and (E)longsuffering, (F)not knowing that the goodness of God leads you to repentance? But in accordance with your hardness and your [a]impenitent heart (G)you are [b]treasuring up for yourself wrath in the day of wrath and revelation of the righteous judgment of God, who (H)“will render to each one according to his deeds”: eternal life to those who by patient continuance in doing good seek for glory, honor, and immortality; but to those who are self-seeking and (I)do not obey the truth, but obey unrighteousness—indignation and wrath, tribulation and anguish, on every soul of man who does evil, of the Jew (J)first and also of the [c]Greek; 10 (K)but glory, honor, and peace to everyone who works what is good, to the Jew first and also to the Greek. 11 For (L)there is no partiality with God.

12 For as many as have sinned without law will also perish without law, and as many as have sinned in the law will be judged by the law 13 (for (M)not the hearers of the law are just in the sight of God, but the doers of the law will be justified; 14 for when Gentiles, who do not have the law, by nature do the things in the law, these, although not having the law, are a law to themselves, 15 who show the (N)work of the law written in their hearts, their (O)conscience also bearing witness, and between themselves their thoughts accusing or else excusing them) 16 (P)in the day when God will judge the secrets of men (Q)by Jesus Christ, (R)according to my gospel.

The Jews Guilty as the Gentiles

17 [d]Indeed (S)you are called a Jew, and (T)rest[e] on the law, (U)and make your boast in God, 18 and (V)know His will, and (W)approve the things that are excellent, being instructed out of the law, 19 and (X)are confident that you yourself are a guide to the blind, a light to those who are in darkness, 20 an instructor of the foolish, a teacher of babes, (Y)having the form of knowledge and truth in the law. 21 (Z)You, therefore, who teach another, do you not teach yourself? You who preach that a man should not steal, do you steal? 22 You who say, “Do not commit adultery,” do you commit adultery? You who abhor idols, (AA)do you rob temples? 23 You who (AB)make your boast in the law, do you dishonor God through breaking the law? 24 For (AC)“the name of God is (AD)blasphemed among the Gentiles because of you,” as it is written.

Circumcision of No Avail

25 (AE)For circumcision is indeed profitable if you keep the law; but if you are a breaker of the law, your circumcision has become uncircumcision. 26 Therefore, (AF)if an uncircumcised man keeps the righteous requirements of the law, will not his uncircumcision be counted as circumcision? 27 And will not the physically uncircumcised, if he fulfills the law, (AG)judge you who, even with your [f]written code and circumcision, are a transgressor of the law? 28 For (AH)he is not a Jew who is one outwardly, nor is circumcision that which is outward in the flesh; 29 but he is a Jew (AI)who is one inwardly; and (AJ)circumcision is that of the heart, (AK)in the Spirit, not in the letter; (AL)whose [g]praise is not from men but from God.
