Revelation 19:6-20:15
New International Version
6 Then I heard what sounded like a great multitude,(A) like the roar of rushing waters(B) and like loud peals of thunder, shouting:
“Hallelujah!(C)
For our Lord God Almighty(D) reigns.(E)
7 Let us rejoice and be glad
and give him glory!(F)
For the wedding of the Lamb(G) has come,
and his bride(H) has made herself ready.
8 Fine linen,(I) bright and clean,
was given her to wear.”
(Fine linen stands for the righteous acts(J) of God’s holy people.)
9 Then the angel said to me,(K) “Write this:(L) Blessed are those who are invited to the wedding supper of the Lamb!”(M) And he added, “These are the true words of God.”(N)
10 At this I fell at his feet to worship him.(O) But he said to me, “Don’t do that! I am a fellow servant with you and with your brothers and sisters who hold to the testimony of Jesus. Worship God!(P) For it is the Spirit of prophecy who bears testimony to Jesus.”(Q)
The Heavenly Warrior Defeats the Beast
11 I saw heaven standing open(R) and there before me was a white horse, whose rider(S) is called Faithful and True.(T) With justice he judges and wages war.(U) 12 His eyes are like blazing fire,(V) and on his head are many crowns.(W) He has a name written on him(X) that no one knows but he himself.(Y) 13 He is dressed in a robe dipped in blood,(Z) and his name is the Word of God.(AA) 14 The armies of heaven were following him, riding on white horses and dressed in fine linen,(AB) white(AC) and clean. 15 Coming out of his mouth is a sharp sword(AD) with which to strike down(AE) the nations. “He will rule them with an iron scepter.”[a](AF) He treads the winepress(AG) of the fury of the wrath of God Almighty. 16 On his robe and on his thigh he has this name written:(AH)
king of kings and lord of lords.(AI)
17 And I saw an angel standing in the sun, who cried in a loud voice to all the birds(AJ) flying in midair,(AK) “Come,(AL) gather together for the great supper of God,(AM) 18 so that you may eat the flesh of kings, generals, and the mighty, of horses and their riders, and the flesh of all people,(AN) free and slave,(AO) great and small.”(AP)
19 Then I saw the beast(AQ) and the kings of the earth(AR) and their armies gathered together to wage war against the rider on the horse(AS) and his army. 20 But the beast was captured, and with it the false prophet(AT) who had performed the signs(AU) on its behalf.(AV) With these signs he had deluded(AW) those who had received the mark of the beast(AX) and worshiped its image.(AY) The two of them were thrown alive into the fiery lake(AZ) of burning sulfur.(BA) 21 The rest were killed with the sword(BB) coming out of the mouth of the rider on the horse,(BC) and all the birds(BD) gorged themselves on their flesh.
The Thousand Years
20 And I saw an angel coming down out of heaven,(BE) having the key(BF) to the Abyss(BG) and holding in his hand a great chain. 2 He seized the dragon, that ancient serpent, who is the devil, or Satan,(BH) and bound him for a thousand years.(BI) 3 He threw him into the Abyss,(BJ) and locked and sealed(BK) it over him, to keep him from deceiving the nations(BL) anymore until the thousand years were ended. After that, he must be set free for a short time.
4 I saw thrones(BM) on which were seated those who had been given authority to judge.(BN) And I saw the souls of those who had been beheaded(BO) because of their testimony about Jesus(BP) and because of the word of God.(BQ) They[b] had not worshiped the beast(BR) or its image and had not received its mark on their foreheads or their hands.(BS) They came to life and reigned(BT) with Christ a thousand years. 5 (The rest of the dead did not come to life until the thousand years were ended.) This is the first resurrection.(BU) 6 Blessed(BV) and holy are those who share in the first resurrection. The second death(BW) has no power over them, but they will be priests(BX) of God and of Christ and will reign with him(BY) for a thousand years.
The Judgment of Satan
7 When the thousand years are over,(BZ) Satan will be released from his prison 8 and will go out to deceive the nations(CA) in the four corners of the earth(CB)—Gog and Magog(CC)—and to gather them for battle.(CD) In number they are like the sand on the seashore.(CE) 9 They marched across the breadth of the earth and surrounded(CF) the camp of God’s people, the city he loves.(CG) But fire came down from heaven(CH) and devoured them. 10 And the devil, who deceived them,(CI) was thrown into the lake of burning sulfur,(CJ) where the beast(CK) and the false prophet(CL) had been thrown. They will be tormented day and night for ever and ever.(CM)
The Judgment of the Dead
11 Then I saw a great white throne(CN) and him who was seated on it. The earth and the heavens fled from his presence,(CO) and there was no place for them. 12 And I saw the dead, great and small,(CP) standing before the throne, and books were opened.(CQ) Another book was opened, which is the book of life.(CR) The dead were judged(CS) according to what they had done(CT) as recorded in the books. 13 The sea gave up the dead that were in it, and death and Hades(CU) gave up the dead(CV) that were in them, and each person was judged according to what they had done.(CW) 14 Then death(CX) and Hades(CY) were thrown into the lake of fire.(CZ) The lake of fire is the second death.(DA) 15 Anyone whose name was not found written in the book of life(DB) was thrown into the lake of fire.
