The Two Witnesses
11 I was given a long stick that looked like a measuring rod. I was told, “Go and measure the temple of God. And measure the altar where the people are worshiping. 2 But do not measure the outer courtyard. That’s because it has been given to the Gentiles. They will take over the holy city for 42 months. 3 I will appoint my two witnesses. And they will prophesy for 1,260 days. They will be dressed in the rough clothes people wear when they’re sad.” 4 The witnesses are “the two olive trees” and the two lampstands. And “they stand in front of the Lord of the earth.” (Zechariah 4:3,11,14) 5 If anyone tries to harm them, fire comes from their mouths and eats up their enemies. This is how anyone who wants to harm them must die. 6 These witnesses have power to close up the sky. Then it will not rain while they are prophesying. They also have power to turn the waters into blood. And they can strike the earth with every kind of plague. They can do this as often as they want to.
7 When they have finished speaking, the beast that comes up from the Abyss will attack them. He will overpower them and kill them. 8 Their bodies will lie in the main street of the great city. It is also the city where their Lord was nailed to a cross. The city is sometimes compared to Sodom or Egypt. 9 For three and a half days, people will stare at their bodies. These people will be from every tribe and nation, no matter what language they speak. They will refuse to bury them. 10 Those who live on the earth will be happy about this. That’s because those two prophets had made them suffer. The people will celebrate by sending one another gifts.
11 But after the three and a half days, the breath of life from God entered the witnesses. They both stood up. Terror struck those who saw them. 12 Then the two witnesses heard a loud voice from heaven. It said to them, “Come up here.” They went up to heaven in a cloud. Their enemies watched it happen.
13 At that same time there was a powerful earthquake. A tenth of the city crumbled and fell. In the earthquake, 7,000 people were killed. Those who lived through it were terrified. They gave glory to the God of heaven.
14 The second terrible judgment has passed. The third is coming soon.
The Seventh Trumpet
15 The seventh angel blew his trumpet. There were loud voices in heaven. They said,
“The kingdom of the world has become
the kingdom of our Lord and of his Messiah.
He will rule for ever and ever.”
16 The 24 elders were sitting on their thrones in front of God. They fell on their faces and worshiped God. 17 They said,
“Lord God who rules over all, we give thanks to you.
You are the God who is and who was.
We give you thanks.
That’s because you have begun to rule with your great power.
18 The nations were angry,
and the time for your anger has come.
The time has come to judge the dead.
It is time to reward your servants the prophets
and your people who honor you.
There is a reward for all your people,
both great and small.
It is time to destroy those who destroy the earth.”
19 Then God’s temple in heaven was opened. Inside it the wooden chest called the ark of his covenant could be seen. There were flashes of lightning, rumblings and thunder, an earthquake and a severe hailstorm.

11 Then I was given (A)a reed like a measuring rod. [a]And the angel stood, saying, (B)“Rise and measure the temple of God, the altar, and those who worship there. 2 But leave out (C)the court which is outside the temple, and do not measure it, (D)for it has been given to the Gentiles. And they will (E)tread the holy city underfoot for (F)forty-two months. 3 And I will give power to my two (G)witnesses, (H)and they will prophesy (I)one thousand two hundred and sixty days, clothed in sackcloth.”
4 These are the (J)two olive trees and the two lampstands standing before the [b]God of the earth. 5 And if anyone wants to harm them, (K)fire proceeds from their mouth and devours their enemies. (L)And if anyone wants to harm them, he must be killed in this manner. 6 These (M)have power to shut heaven, so that no rain falls in the days of their prophecy; and they have power over waters to turn them to blood, and to strike the earth with all plagues, as often as they desire.
The Witnesses Killed
7 When they (N)finish their testimony, (O)the beast that ascends (P)out of the bottomless pit (Q)will make war against them, overcome them, and kill them. 8 And their dead bodies will lie in the street of (R)the great city which spiritually is called Sodom and Egypt, (S)where also [c]our Lord was crucified. 9 (T)Then those from the peoples, tribes, tongues, and nations [d]will see their dead bodies three-and-a-half days, (U)and not allow their dead bodies to be put into graves. 10 (V)And those who dwell on the earth will rejoice over them, make merry, (W)and send gifts to one another, (X)because these two prophets tormented those who dwell on the earth.
The Witnesses Resurrected
11 (Y)Now after the three-and-a-half days (Z)the breath of life from God entered them, and they stood on their feet, and great fear fell on those who saw them. 12 And [e]they heard a loud voice from heaven saying to them, “Come up here.” (AA)And they ascended to heaven (AB)in a cloud, (AC)and their enemies saw them. 13 In the same hour (AD)there was a great earthquake, (AE)and a tenth of the city fell. In the earthquake seven thousand people were killed, and the rest were afraid (AF)and gave glory to the God of heaven.
14 (AG)The second woe is past. Behold, the third woe is coming quickly.
Seventh Trumpet: The Kingdom Proclaimed
15 Then (AH)the seventh angel sounded: (AI)And there were loud voices in heaven, saying, (AJ)“The [f]kingdoms of this world have become the kingdoms of our Lord and of His Christ, (AK)and He shall reign forever and ever!” 16 And (AL)the twenty-four elders who sat before God on their thrones fell on their faces and (AM)worshiped God, 17 saying:
“We give You thanks, O Lord God Almighty,
The One (AN)who is and who was [g]and who is to come,
Because You have taken Your great power (AO)and reigned.
18 The nations were (AP)angry, and Your [h]wrath has come,
And the time of the (AQ)dead, that they should be judged,
And that You should reward Your servants the prophets and the saints,
And those who fear Your name, small and great,
And should destroy those who destroy the earth.”
19 Then (AR)the temple of God was opened in heaven, and the ark of [i]His covenant was seen in His temple. And (AS)there were lightnings, noises, thunderings, an earthquake, (AT)and great hail.

11 Then I was given (A)a measuring rod like a staff, and I was told, “Rise and measure the temple of God and the altar and those who worship there, 2 but do not measure (B)the court outside the temple; leave that out, for (C)it is given over to the nations, and they will trample the holy city for (D)forty-two months. 3 And I will grant authority to my two witnesses, and they will prophesy for (E)1,260 days, (F)clothed in sackcloth.”
4 These are (G)the two olive trees and the two lampstands that stand before the Lord of the earth. 5 And if anyone would harm them, (H)fire pours from their mouth and consumes their foes. The Seventh Trumpet
15 Then (AD)the seventh angel blew his trumpet, and (AE)there were loud voices in heaven, saying, (AF)“The kingdom of the world has become the kingdom of our Lord and of (AG)his Christ, and (AH)he shall reign forever and ever.” 16 And the twenty-four elders (AI)who sit on their thrones before God (AJ)fell on their faces and worshiped God, 17 saying,
“We give thanks to you, Lord God Almighty,
(AK)who is and who was,
for you have taken your great power
and (AL)begun to reign.
18 The nations raged,
but (AM)your wrath came,
and (AN)the time for the dead to be judged,
and for rewarding your servants, the prophets and saints,
and (AO)those who fear your name,
both small and great,
and (AP)for destroying the destroyers of the earth.”
19 Then (AQ)God's temple in heaven was opened, and (AR)the ark of his covenant was seen within his temple. There were flashes of lightning, rumblings,[c] peals of thunder, an earthquake, and (AS)heavy hail.

11 (A) Jag fick en mätstång som liknade en stav, och man sade: "Stå upp och mät Guds tempel och altaret och dem som tillber där inne.[a] 2 (B) Men lämna templets yttergård och mät den inte, för den är given åt hedningarna och de ska trampa den heliga staden under sina fötter i fyrtiotvå månader.[b] 3 (C) Och jag ska låta mina två vittnen profetera under ettusen tvåhundrasextio dagar, klädda i säcktyg."
4 (D) Dessa är de två olivträden och de två ljusstakarna[c] som står inför jordens Herre. 5 (E) Om någon vill skada dem, kommer eld ur deras mun och förtär deras fiender. Ja, om någon vill skada dem måste han dödas på det sättet. 6 (F) De har makt att stänga himlen så att inget regn faller under de dagar de profeterar, och de har makt att förvandla vattnen till blod och att slå jorden med alla slags plågor så ofta de vill.
7 (G) Och när de har fullgjort sitt vittnesbörd, ska vilddjuret som kommer upp ur avgrunden strida mot dem och besegra dem och döda dem. 8 (H) Deras lik ska bli liggande på gatan i den stora stad som andligt talat kallas Sodom och Egypten och där även deras Herre blev korsfäst. 9 Människor av olika folk och stammar och språk och länder ser deras döda kroppar i tre och en halv dagar, och de tillåter inte att kropparna läggs i någon grav. 10 (I) Och jordens invånare gläder sig över dem och jublar och skickar gåvor till varandra, eftersom de båda profeterna hade plågat dem som bor på jorden.
11 (J) Men efter de tre och en halv dagarna kom livsande från Gud in i dem, och de stod upp på sina fötter igen, och de som såg dem blev skräckslagna. 12 (K) Och de hörde en stark röst från himlen som sade till dem: "Kom hit upp!" Och de steg upp till himlen i ett moln, och deras fiender såg dem. 13 (L) I samma stund blev det en stor jordbävning, och en tiondel av staden störtade samman. Sju tusen människor dödades vid jordbävningen, och resten greps av skräck och gav ära åt himlens Gud.
14 (M) Det andra veropet är över. Se, det tredje kommer snart.
Den sjunde basunen
15 (N) Och den sjunde ängeln blåste i sin basun. Då hördes starka röster i himlen:
"Väldet över världen
tillhör nu vår Herre
och hans Smorde,
och han ska vara kung
i evigheters evighet."
16 (O) Och de tjugofyra äldste som satt på sina troner inför Gud föll ner på sina ansikten och tillbad Gud 17 (P) och sade:
"Vi tackar dig,
Herre Gud Allsmäktig,
du som är och som var,
för att du har tagit makten,
din stora makt,
och nu är kung.
18 (Q) Folken vredgades,
och din vrede har kommit,
tiden när de döda ska dömas
och du ska löna
dina tjänare profeterna
och de heliga
och dem som vördar ditt namn,
små och stora,
och fördärva dem
som fördärvar jorden."
19 (R) Och Guds tempel i himlen öppnades, och hans förbundsark blev synlig i hans tempel, och det kom blixtar, dån, åska, jordbävning och stora hagel.
