17 because you say you are rich and increased with goods, and have need of nothing, and know not how you are wretched and miserable, poor, blind, and naked. 18 I counsel you to buy of me gold tried in the fire so that you may be rich, and white raiment so that you may be clothed, so that your shameful nakedness does not appear. And anoint your eyes with eye-salve, so that you may see.
19 As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten. Be fervent therefore, and repent.

17 You say, ‘I am rich; I have acquired wealth and do not need a thing.’(A) But you do not realize that you are wretched, pitiful, poor, blind and naked.(B) 18 I counsel you to buy from me gold refined in the fire,(C) so you can become rich; and white clothes(D) to wear, so you can cover your shameful nakedness;(E) and salve to put on your eyes, so you can see.
19 Those whom I love I rebuke and discipline.(F) So be earnest and repent.(G)
