The Marriage Supper of the Lamb

Then I heard what seemed to be (A)the voice of a great multitude, like (B)the roar of many waters and (C)like the sound of mighty peals of thunder, crying out,

“Hallelujah!
For the Lord our God
    the Almighty (D)reigns.
Let us rejoice and exult
    and give him the glory,
for (E)the marriage of the Lamb has come,
    and (F)his Bride has made herself ready;
(G)it was granted her to clothe herself
with fine linen, bright and pure”—

for the fine linen is (H)the righteous deeds of the saints.

And the angel said[a] to me, “Write this: (I)Blessed are those who are invited to the marriage supper of the Lamb.” And he said to me, (J)“These are the true words of God.” 10 Then (K)I fell down at his feet to worship him, (L)but he said to me, “You must not do that! I am a fellow servant with you and your brothers who hold to (M)the testimony of Jesus. Worship God.” For the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.

The Rider on a White Horse

11 Then I saw (N)heaven opened, and behold, (O)a white horse! The one sitting on it is called (P)Faithful and True, and (Q)in righteousness he judges and makes war. 12 (R)His eyes are like a flame of fire, and on his head are (S)many diadems, and he has (T)a name written that no one knows but himself. 13 He is clothed in (U)a robe dipped in[b] blood, and the name by which he is called is (V)The Word of God. 14 And the armies of heaven, (W)arrayed in fine linen, white and pure, (X)were following him on white horses. 15 (Y)From his mouth comes a sharp sword (Z)with which to strike down the nations, and (AA)he will rule[c] them with a rod of iron. (AB)He will tread the winepress of the fury of the wrath of God the Almighty. 16 On his robe and on his thigh (AC)he has a name written, (AD)King of kings and Lord of lords.

17 Then I saw an angel standing in the sun, and with a loud voice he called to (AE)all the birds that fly directly overhead, (AF)“Come, gather for (AG)the great supper of God, 18 (AH)to eat the flesh of kings, the flesh of captains, the flesh of mighty men, the flesh of horses and their riders, and the flesh of all men, both free and slave,[d] both small and great.” 19 And I saw (AI)the beast and the kings of the earth with their armies (AJ)gathered to make war against him who was sitting on the horse and against his army. 20 And the beast was captured, and with it (AK)the false prophet (AL)who in its presence[e] had done the signs by which he deceived those who had received the mark of the beast and those who (AM)worshiped its image. These two were (AN)thrown alive into the lake of (AO)fire that burns with sulfur. 21 And the rest were slain by the sword (AP)that came from the mouth of him who was sitting on the horse, and (AQ)all the birds were gorged with their flesh.

The Thousand Years

20 Then I saw an angel coming down from heaven, (AR)holding in his hand the key to (AS)the bottomless pit[f] and a great chain. And he seized (AT)the dragon, that ancient serpent, who is the devil and Satan, and (AU)bound him for a thousand years, and threw him into (AV)the pit, and shut it and (AW)sealed it over him, so that (AX)he might not deceive the nations any longer, until the thousand years were ended. After that he must be released for a little while.

Then I saw (AY)thrones, and (AZ)seated on them were those to whom the authority to judge was committed. Also I saw (BA)the souls of those who had been beheaded for the testimony of Jesus and for the word of God, and those (BB)who had not worshiped the beast or its image and had not received its mark on their foreheads or their hands. (BC)They came to life and (BD)reigned with Christ for a thousand years. The rest of the dead did not come to life until the thousand years were ended. This is the first resurrection. (BE)Blessed and holy is the one who shares in the first resurrection! Over such (BF)the second death has no power, but they will be (BG)priests of God and of Christ, and they (BH)will reign with him for a thousand years.

The Defeat of Satan

And when the thousand years are ended, (BI)Satan will be released from his prison and will come out (BJ)to deceive the nations that are at the four corners of the earth, (BK)Gog and Magog, (BL)to gather them for battle; their number is like the sand of the sea. And (BM)they marched up over the broad plain of the earth and surrounded (BN)the camp of the saints and (BO)the beloved city, but (BP)fire came down from heaven[g] and consumed them, 10 and the devil (BQ)who had deceived them was (BR)thrown into the lake of fire and sulfur where (BS)the beast and the false prophet were, and they will be tormented day and night forever and ever.

Judgment Before the Great White Throne

11 Then I saw a great white throne and him who was seated on it. From his presence (BT)earth and sky fled away, and (BU)no place was found for them. 12 And I saw the dead, great and small, standing before the throne, and (BV)books were opened. Then another book was opened, which is (BW)the book of life. And (BX)the dead were judged by what was written in the books, (BY)according to what they had done. 13 And the sea gave up the dead who were in it, (BZ)Death and Hades gave up the dead who were in them, and they were judged, each one of them, (CA)according to what they had done. 14 Then (CB)Death and Hades (CC)were thrown into the lake of fire. This is (CD)the second death, the lake of fire. 15 And if anyone's name was not found written in the book of life, (CE)he was thrown into the lake of fire.

The Thousand Years

20 And I saw an angel coming down out of heaven,(BE) having the key(BF) to the Abyss(BG) and holding in his hand a great chain. He seized the dragon, that ancient serpent, who is the devil, or Satan,(BH) and bound him for a thousand years.(BI) He threw him into the Abyss,(BJ) and locked and sealed(BK) it over him, to keep him from deceiving the nations(BL) anymore until the thousand years were ended. 1. Revelation 19:15 Psalm 2:9
  2. Revelation 20:4 Or God; I also saw those who

And I heard as it were the voice of a great multitude, and as the voice of many waters, and as the voice of mighty thunderings, saying, Alleluia: for the Lord God omnipotent reigneth.

Let us be glad and rejoice, and give honour to him: for the marriage of the Lamb is come, and his wife hath made herself ready.

And to her was granted that she should be arrayed in fine linen, clean and white: for the fine linen is the righteousness of saints.

And he saith unto me, Write, Blessed are they which are called unto the marriage supper of the Lamb. And he saith unto me, These are the true sayings of God.

10 And I fell at his feet to worship him. And he said unto me, See thou do it not: I am thy fellowservant, and of thy brethren that have the testimony of Jesus: worship God: for the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.

11 And I saw heaven opened, and behold a white horse; and he that sat upon him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he doth judge and make war.

12 His eyes were as a flame of fire, and on his head were many crowns; and he had a name written, that no man knew, but he himself.

13 And he was clothed with a vesture dipped in blood: and his name is called The Word of God.

14 And the armies which were in heaven followed him upon white horses, clothed in fine linen, white and clean.

15 And out of his mouth goeth a sharp sword, that with it he should smite the nations: and he shall rule them with a rod of iron: and he treadeth the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God.

16 And he hath on his vesture and on his thigh a name written, King Of Kings, And Lord Of Lords.

17 And I saw an angel standing in the sun; and he cried with a loud voice, saying to all the fowls that fly in the midst of heaven, Come and gather yourselves together unto the supper of the great God;

18 That ye may eat the flesh of kings, and the flesh of captains, and the flesh of mighty men, and the flesh of horses, and of them that sit on them, and the flesh of all men, both free and bond, both small and great.

19 And I saw the beast, and the kings of the earth, and their armies, gathered together to make war against him that sat on the horse, and against his army.

20 And the beast was taken, and with him the false prophet that wrought miracles before him, with which he deceived them that had received the mark of the beast, and them that worshipped his image. These both were cast alive into a lake of fire burning with brimstone.

21 And the remnant were slain with the sword of him that sat upon the horse, which sword proceeded out of his mouth: and all the fowls were filled with their flesh.

20 And I saw an angel come down from heaven, having the key of the bottomless pit and a great chain in his hand.

And he laid hold on the dragon, that old serpent, which is the Devil, and Satan, and bound him a thousand years,

And cast him into the bottomless pit, and shut him up, and set a seal upon him, that he should deceive the nations no more, till the thousand years should be fulfilled: and after that he must be loosed a little season.

And I saw thrones, and they sat upon them, and judgment was given unto them: and I saw the souls of them that were beheaded for the witness of Jesus, and for the word of God, and which had not worshipped the beast, neither his image, neither had received his mark upon their foreheads, or in their hands; and they lived and reigned with Christ a thousand years.

But the rest of the dead lived not again until the thousand years were finished. This is the first resurrection.

Blessed and holy is he that hath part in the first resurrection: on such the second death hath no power, but they shall be priests of God and of Christ, and shall reign with him a thousand years.

And when the thousand years are expired, Satan shall be loosed out of his prison,

And shall go out to deceive the nations which are in the four quarters of the earth, Gog, and Magog, to gather them together to battle: the number of whom is as the sand of the sea.

And they went up on the breadth of the earth, and compassed the camp of the saints about, and the beloved city: and fire came down from God out of heaven, and devoured them.

10 And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever.

11 And I saw a great white throne, and him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them.

12 And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works.

13 And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works.

14 And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death.

15 And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.
