8 and all (A)who dwell on earth will worship it, everyone whose name has not been written before the foundation of the world in (B)the book of life of (C)the Lamb (D)who was slain. 9 (E)If anyone has an ear, let him hear:
10 (F)If anyone is to be taken captive,
to captivity he goes;
(G)if anyone is to be slain with the sword,
with the sword must he be slain.
(H)Here is a call for the endurance and faith of the saints.
The Second Beast
11 Then (I)I saw another beast rising out of the earth. It had two horns like a lamb and it spoke like a dragon. 12 It exercises all the authority of the first beast in its presence,[a] and makes the earth and its inhabitants worship the first beast, (J)whose mortal wound was healed. 13 (K)It performs great signs, even (L)making fire come down from heaven to earth in front of people, 14 and by the signs that it is allowed to work in the presence of[b] the beast (M)it deceives those who dwell on earth, telling them to make an image for the beast (N)that was wounded by the sword and yet lived.

8 All inhabitants of the earth(A) will worship the beast—all whose names have not been written in the Lamb’s book of life,(B) the Lamb(C) who was slain from the creation of the world.[a](D)
9 Whoever has ears, let them hear.(E)
10 “If anyone is to go into captivity,
into captivity they will go.
If anyone is to be killed[b] with the sword,
with the sword they will be killed.”[c](F)
This calls for patient endurance and faithfulness(G) on the part of God’s people.(H)
The Beast out of the Earth
11 Then I saw a second beast, coming out of the earth.(I) It had two horns like a lamb, but it spoke like a dragon.(J) 12 It exercised all the authority(K) of the first beast on its behalf,(L) and made the earth and its inhabitants worship the first beast,(M) whose fatal wound had been healed.(N) 13 And it performed great signs,(O) even causing fire to come down from heaven(P) to the earth in full view of the people. 14 Because of the signs(Q) it was given power to perform on behalf of the first beast, it deceived(R) the inhabitants of the earth.(S) It ordered them to set up an image in honor of the beast who was wounded by the sword and yet lived.(T)
