⁴ They were told ^(A)not to harm ^(B)the grass of the earth or any green plant or any tree, but only those people who do not have ^(C)the seal of God on their foreheads.

⁴ And the Lord said to him, “Pass through the city, through Jerusalem, and ^(A)put a mark on the foreheads of the men who ^(B)sigh and groan over all the abominations that are committed in it.”

² Then I saw another angel ascending ^(A)from the rising of the sun, with ^(B)the seal of the living God, and he called with a loud voice to the four angels who had been given power to harm earth and sea, ³ saying, ^(C)“Do not harm the earth or the sea or the trees, until we have sealed the servants of our God ^(D)on their foreheads.” ⁴ And ^(E)I heard the number of the sealed, 144,000, sealed from every tribe of the sons of Israel:

14 Then I looked, and behold, on ^(A)Mount Zion ^(B)stood the Lamb, and with him ^(C)144,000 who ^(D)had his name and his Father's name written ^(E)on their foreheads.

⁷ The first angel blew his trumpet, and there followed ^(A)hail and ^(B)fire, mixed with blood, and these were thrown upon the earth. And a ^(C)third of the earth was burned up, and a third of ^(D)the trees were burned up, and all green grass was burned up.

⁶ And I heard what seemed to be a voice in the midst of the four living creatures, saying, ^(A)“A quart^[a] of wheat for a denarius,^[b] and three quarts of barley for a denarius, and ^(B)do not harm the oil and wine!”

^6 (A)Kill old men outright, young men and maidens, little children and women, but ^(B)touch no one on whom is the mark. And ^(C)begin at my sanctuary.” So they began with the elders who were before the house.

^23 (A)For the Lord will pass through to strike the Egyptians, and when he sees the blood on ^(B)the lintel and on the two doorposts, the Lord will pass over the door and ^(C)will not allow the destroyer to enter your houses to strike you.

⁸ Just as ^(A)Jannes and Jambres ^(B)opposed Moses, so these men also oppose the truth, ^(C)men corrupted in mind and ^(D)disqualified regarding the faith. ⁹ But they will not get very far, for their folly will be plain to all, ^(E)as was that of those two men.
