The Scroll and the Lamb

5 Then I saw in the right hand of him who was seated on the throne ^(A)a scroll written within and on the back, ^(B)sealed with seven seals.

⁹ And when I looked, behold, ^(A)a hand was stretched out to me, and behold, ^(B)a scroll of a book was in it. ¹⁰ And he spread it before me. And it had writing ^(C)on the front and on the back, and there were written on it words of lamentation and mourning and woe.

¹¹ And the vision of all this has become to you like the words of a book that is ^(A)sealed. When men give it to one who can read, saying, “Read this,” he says, “I cannot, for it is sealed.”

⁷ And he went and took the scroll from the right hand of him who was seated on the throne.

^2 (A)He had a little scroll open in his hand. And he set his right foot on the sea, and his left foot on the land,

The Seven Seals

6 Now I watched when the Lamb opened one of ^(A)the seven seals, and I heard ^(B)one of the four living creatures say ^(C)with a voice like thunder, ^(D)“Come!”

⁴ But you, Daniel, ^(A)shut up the words and ^(B)seal the book, until ^(C)the time of the end. ^(D)Many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall increase.”

⁵ Then I, Daniel, looked, and behold, two others stood, one on ^(E)this bank of the stream and one on that bank of the stream. ⁶ And someone said to ^(F)the man clothed in linen, who was above the waters of the stream,^{[a] (G)}“How long shall it be till the end of these wonders?” ⁷ And I heard ^(H)the man clothed in linen, who was above the waters of the stream; ^(I)he raised his right hand and his left hand toward heaven and ^(J)swore by him who lives forever that it would be for a ^(K)time, times, and half a time, and that when the shattering of ^(L)the power of ^(M)the holy people comes to an end all these things would be finished. ⁸ I heard, ^(N)but I did not understand. Then I said, “O my lord, what shall be the outcome of these things?” ⁹ He said, ^(O)“Go your way, Daniel, ^(P)for the words are shut up and sealed until the time of the end.

¹³ And I heard ^(A)every creature in heaven and on earth and under the earth and in the sea, and all that is in them, saying,

⁸ Then the voice that I had heard from heaven spoke to me again, saying, “Go, take the scroll that is open in the hand of the angel who is standing on the sea and on the land.” ⁹ So I went to the angel and told him to give me the little scroll. And he said to me, ^(A)“Take and ^(B)eat it; it will make your stomach bitter, but in your mouth it will be sweet as honey.” ¹⁰ And I took the little scroll from the hand of the angel and ate it. It was sweet as honey in my mouth, but when I had eaten it my stomach was made bitter. ¹¹ And I was told, ^(C)“You must again prophesy about many peoples and nations and languages and kings.”
