^{8     (A)}He will swallow up death forever;
and ^(B)the Lord God will wipe away tears from all faces,
    and ^(C)the reproach of his people he will take away from all the earth,
    ^(D)for the Lord has spoken.

¹⁷ For the Lamb in the midst of the throne ^(A)will be their shepherd,
    and he will guide them to springs of ^(B)living water,
and ^(C)God will wipe away every tear from their eyes.”

²⁰ Your sun shall no more go down,
    nor your moon withdraw itself;
for the Lord will be your everlasting light,
    and ^(A)your days of mourning shall be ended.

^10 (A)And the ransomed of the Lord shall return
    and come to Zion with singing;
^(B)everlasting joy shall be upon their heads;
    they shall obtain gladness and joy,
    and sorrow and sighing shall flee away.

¹⁸ But be glad and rejoice forever
    in that which I create;
for behold, ^(A)I create Jerusalem to be a joy,
    and her people to be a gladness.
^19 (B)I will rejoice in Jerusalem
    and be glad in my people;
^(C)no more shall be heard in it the sound of weeping
    and the cry of distress.
