² So the first angel went and poured out his bowl on the earth, and harmful and painful ^(A)sores came upon the people who bore ^(B)the mark of the beast and worshiped its image.

⁷ The first angel blew his trumpet, and there followed ^(A)hail and ^(B)fire, mixed with blood, and these were thrown upon the earth. And a ^(C)third of the earth was burned up, and a third of ^(D)the trees were burned up, and all green grass was burned up.

¹¹ and cursed ^(A)the God of heaven for their pain and ^(B)sores. ^(C)They did not repent of their deeds.

¹⁵ And it was allowed to give breath to the image of the beast, so that the image of the beast might even speak and might cause those who would not ^(A)worship the image of the beast ^(B)to be slain. ¹⁶ Also it causes all, both small and great, both rich and poor, both free and slave,^{[a] (C)}to be marked on the right hand or the forehead, ¹⁷ so that no one can buy or sell unless he has the mark, that is, ^(D)the name of the beast or ^(E)the number of its name. ^18 (F)This calls for wisdom: let the one who has understanding calculate the number of the beast, for it is the number ^(G)of a man, and his number is 666.^[b]

The Sixth Plague: Boils

⁸ And the Lord said to Moses and Aaron, “Take handfuls of soot from the kiln, and let Moses throw them in the air in the sight of Pharaoh. ⁹ It shall become fine dust over all the land of Egypt, and become ^(A)boils breaking out in sores on man and beast throughout all the land of Egypt.” ¹⁰ So they took soot from the kiln and stood before Pharaoh. And Moses threw it in the air, and it became boils breaking out in sores on man and beast. ¹¹ And ^(B)the magicians could not stand before Moses because of the boils, for the boils came upon the magicians and upon all the Egyptians.

²³ Immediately ^(A)an angel of the Lord struck him down, because ^(B)he did not give God the glory, and he was eaten by worms and breathed his last.

²⁰ And at his gate ^(A)was laid a poor man named Lazarus, covered with sores, ²¹ who desired to be fed with ^(B)what fell from the rich man's table. Moreover, even the dogs came and licked his sores. ²² The poor man died and was carried by ^(C)the angels ^(D)to Abraham's side.^[a] The rich man also died and was buried,
