⁴ These are ^(A)the two olive trees and the two lampstands that stand before the Lord of the earth.

¹¹ Then I said to him, “What are these ^(A)two olive trees on the right and the left of the lampstand?” ¹² And a second time I answered and said to him, “What are these ^(B)two branches of the olive trees, which are beside the two golden pipes from which the golden oil^[a] is poured out?” ¹³ He said to me, ^(C)“Do you not know what these are?” I said, “No, my lord.” ¹⁴ Then he said, ^(D)“These are the two anointed ones^[b] who stand by ^(E)the Lord of the whole earth.”

² And he said to me, “What do you see?” I said, “I see, and behold, ^(A)a lampstand all of gold, with a bowl on the top of it, and ^(B)seven lamps on it, with seven lips on each of the lamps that are on the top of it. ³ And there are ^(C)two olive trees by it, one on the right of the bowl and the other on its left.”

¹⁶ The Lord once called you ^(A)‘a green olive tree, beautiful with good fruit.’ But ^(B)with the roar of a great tempest he will set fire to it, and ^(C)its branches will be consumed.

²⁰ As for the mystery of the seven stars that you saw in my right hand, and ^(A)the seven golden lampstands, the seven stars are the angels of the seven churches, and ^(B)the seven lampstands are the seven churches.

¹⁷ But if ^(A)some of the branches were broken off, and you, ^(B)although a wild olive shoot, were grafted in among the others and now share in the nourishing root^[a] of the olive tree,
