The Throne Room of Heaven^(A)

4 After these things I looked, and behold, a door standing ^(B)open in heaven. And the first voice which I heard was like a ^(C)trumpet speaking with me, saying, “Come up here, and I will show you things which must take place after this.”

² Immediately ^(D)I was in the Spirit; and behold, ^(E)a throne set in heaven, and One sat on the throne. ^3 [a]And He who sat there was ^(F)like a jasper and a sardius stone in appearance; ^(G)and there was a rainbow around the throne, in appearance like an emerald. ^4 (H)Around the throne were twenty-four thrones, and on the thrones I saw twenty-four elders sitting, ^(I)clothed in white ^[b]robes; and they had crowns of gold on their heads. ⁵ And from the throne proceeded ^(J)lightnings, ^[c]thunderings, and voices. ^(K)Seven lamps of fire were burning before the throne, which are ^(L)the^[d] seven Spirits of God.

⁶ Before the throne there ^[e]was ^(M)a sea of glass, like crystal. ^(N)And in the midst of the throne, and around the throne, were four living creatures full of eyes in front and in back. ^7 (O)The first living creature was like a lion, the second living creature like a calf, the third living creature had a face like a man, and the fourth living creature was like a flying eagle. ⁸ The four living creatures, each having ^(P)six wings, were full of eyes around and within. And they do not rest day or night, saying:

⁹ Whenever the living creatures give glory and honor and thanks to Him who sits on the throne, ^(T)who lives forever and ever, ^10 (U)the twenty-four elders fall down before Him who sits on the throne and worship Him who lives forever and ever, and cast their crowns before the throne, saying:

¹¹ saying, ^[a]“I am the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last,” and, “What you see, write in a book and send it to the seven churches ^[b]which are in Asia: to Ephesus, to Smyrna, to Pergamos, to Thyatira, to Sardis, to Philadelphia, and to Laodicea.”

¹² Then I turned to see the voice that spoke with me. And having turned ^(A)I saw seven golden lampstands, ^13 (B)and in the midst of the seven lampstands ^(C)One like the Son of Man, ^(D)clothed with a garment down to the feet and ^(E)girded about the chest with a golden band. ¹⁴ His head and ^(F)hair were white like wool, as white as snow, and ^(G)His eyes like a flame of fire; ^15 (H)His feet were like fine brass, as if refined in a furnace, and ^(I)His voice as the sound of many waters; ^16 (J)He had in His right hand seven stars, ^(K)out of His mouth went a sharp two-edged sword, ^(L)and His countenance was like the sun shining in its strength. ¹⁷ And ^(M)when I saw Him, I fell at His feet as dead. But ^(N)He laid His right hand on me, saying ^[c]to me, “Do not be afraid; ^(O)I am the First and the Last. ^18 (P)I am He who lives, and was dead, and behold, ^(Q)I am alive forevermore. Amen. And ^(R)I have the keys of ^[d]Hades and of Death. ^19 [e]Write the things which you have ^(S)seen, ^(T)and the things which are, ^(U)and the things which will take place after this. ²⁰ The ^[f]mystery of the seven stars which you saw in My right hand, and the seven golden lampstands: The seven stars are ^(V)the ^[g]angels of the seven churches, and ^(W)the seven lampstands ^[h]which you saw are the seven churches.

The Loveless Church

2 “To the ^[i]angel of the church of Ephesus write,

‘These things says ^(X)He who holds the seven stars in His right hand, ^(Y)who walks in the midst of the seven golden lampstands: ^2 (Z)“I know your works, your labor, your ^[j]patience, and that you cannot ^[k]bear those who are evil. And ^(AA)you have tested those ^(AB)who say they are apostles and are not, and have found them liars; ³ and you have persevered and have patience, and have labored for My name’s sake and have ^(AC)not become weary.
