Psalm 62

God Alone a Refuge from Treachery and Oppression.

For the music director; ^[a]according to Jeduthun. A Psalm of David.

62 ^(A)My soul waits in silence for God alone;
From Him ^(B)comes my salvation.
²He alone is my ^(C)rock and my salvation,
My ^(D)stronghold; I will not be greatly shaken.

³How long will you attack a man,
That you may murder him, all of you,
Like a ^(E)leaning wall, like a tottering fence?
⁴They have planned only to thrust him down from his high position;
They ^(F)delight in falsehood;
They ^(G)bless with ^[b]their mouth,
But inwardly they curse. Selah

⁵My soul, ^(H)wait in silence for God alone,
For my hope is from Him.
⁶He alone is ^(I)my rock and my salvation,
My refuge; I will not be shaken.
⁷My ^(J)salvation and my glory rest on God;
The rock of my strength, my ^(K)refuge is in God.
⁸^(L)Trust in Him at all times, you people;
^(M)Pour out your hearts before Him;
God is a refuge for us. Selah

⁹People of ^(N)low standing are only ^(O)breath, and people of rank are a ^(P)lie;
In the ^(Q)balances they go up.
Together they are lighter than breath.
¹⁰^(R)Do not trust in oppression,
And do not vainly rely on ^(S)robbery;
If wealth increases, ^(T)do not set your heart on it.

¹¹God has ^(U)spoken ^[c]once;
^[d]Twice I have heard this:
That ^(V)power belongs to God;
¹²And faithfulness ^(W)is Yours, Lord,
For You ^(X)reward a person according to his work.

145 I will ^(A)exalt You, ^(B)my God, the King,
And I will ^(C)bless Your name forever and ever.
²Every day I will bless You,
And I will ^(D)praise Your name forever and ever.
³^(E)Great is the Lord, and highly to be praised;
And His ^(F)greatness is unsearchable.
⁴One ^(G)generation will praise Your works to another,
And will declare Your mighty acts.
⁵On the ^(H)glorious ^[a]splendor of Your majesty
And ^(I)on Your wonderful works, I will meditate.
⁶People will speak of the ^[b]power of Your ^(J)awesome acts,
And I will ^(K)tell of Your greatness.
⁷They will burst forth ^[c]in speaking of Your ^(L)abundant goodness,
And will ^(M)shout joyfully of Your righteousness.

⁸The Lord is ^(N)gracious and compassionate;
Slow to anger and great in mercy.
⁹The Lord is ^(O)good to all,
And His ^(P)mercies are over all His works.
¹⁰^(Q)All Your works will give thanks to You, Lord,
And Your ^(R)godly ones will bless You.
¹¹They will speak of the ^(S)glory of Your kingdom,
And talk of Your might,
¹²To ^(T)make known to the sons of mankind ^[d]Your mighty acts,
And the ^(U)glory of the majesty of ^[e]Your kingdom.
¹³Your kingdom is ^[f]an ^(V)everlasting kingdom,
And Your dominion endures throughout all generations.
^[g]The Lord is faithful in His words,
And holy in all His works.

¹⁴The Lord ^(W)supports all who fall,
And ^(X)raises up all who are bowed down.
¹⁵The eyes of all ^[h]look to You,
And You ^(Y)give them their food in due time.
¹⁶You ^(Z)open Your hand
And satisfy the desire of every living thing.

¹⁷The Lord is ^(AA)righteous in all His ways,
And kind in all His works.
¹⁸The Lord is ^(AB)near to all who call on Him,
To all who call on Him ^(AC)in truth.
¹⁹He will ^(AD)fulfill the desire of those who fear Him;
He will also ^(AE)hear their cry for help and save them.
²⁰The Lord ^(AF)watches over all who love Him,
But He will destroy all the ^(AG)wicked.
²¹My ^(AH)mouth will speak the praise of the Lord,
And ^(AI)all flesh will ^(AJ)bless His holy name forever and ever.

Numbers 32:1-6

Reuben and Gad Settle in Gilead

32 Now the sons of Reuben and the sons of Gad had a ^(A)very large number of livestock. So when they saw the land of ^(B)Jazer and the land of Gilead, that ^[a]it was indeed a place suitable for livestock, ²the sons of Gad and the sons of Reuben came and spoke to Moses, Eleazar the priest, and to the leaders of the congregation, saying, ³“^(C)Ataroth, Dibon, Jazer, Nimrah, Heshbon, Elealeh, Sebam, Nebo, and Beon, ⁴the land ^(D)which the Lord ^[b]conquered before the congregation of Israel, is a land for livestock, and your servants have livestock.” ⁵And they said, “If we have found favor in your sight, let this land be given to your servants as our property; do not take us across the Jordan.”

⁶But Moses said to the sons of Gad and the sons of Reuben, “Should your brothers go to war while you remain here?

²⁰^(D)So Moses said to them, “If you will do ^[a]this, if you will arm yourselves before the Lord for the war, ²¹and all of you armed men cross over the Jordan before the Lord until He has driven His enemies out from Him, ²²^(E)and the land is subdued before the Lord, then afterward you may return and be ^[b]free of obligation toward the Lord and toward Israel, and this land shall be yours as property before the Lord. ²³But if you do not do so, behold, you have sinned against the Lord, and be sure that ^(F)your sin will find you out. ²⁴Build yourselves cities for your little ones, and sheepfolds for your sheep, and ^(G)do ^[c]what you have promised.”

²⁵Then the sons of Gad and the sons of Reuben spoke to Moses, saying, “Your servants will do just as my lord commands. ²⁶^(H)Our little ones, our wives, our livestock, and all our cattle shall ^[d]remain there in the cities of Gilead, ²⁷while your servants, that is, everyone who is armed for war, ^(I)cross over in the presence of the Lord to battle, just as my lord says.”
