Praise to the Sovereign Lord for His Creation and Providence(A)

104 Bless (B)the Lord, O my soul!

O Lord my God, You are very great:
You are clothed with honor and majesty,
Who cover Yourself with light as with a garment,
Who stretch out the heavens like a curtain.

(C)He lays the beams of His upper chambers in the waters,
Who makes the clouds His chariot,
Who walks on the wings of the wind,
Who makes His angels spirits,
His [a]ministers a flame of fire.

You who [b]laid the foundations of the earth,
So that it should not be moved forever,
You (D)covered it with the deep as with a garment;
The waters stood above the mountains.
At Your rebuke they fled;
At the voice of Your thunder they hastened away.
[c]They went up over the mountains;
They went down into the valleys,
To the place which You founded for them.
You have (E)set a boundary that they may not pass over,
(F)That they may not return to cover the earth.

10 He sends the springs into the valleys;
They flow among the hills.
11 They give drink to every beast of the field;
The wild donkeys quench their thirst.
12 By them the birds of the heavens have their home;
They sing among the branches.
13 (G)He waters the hills from His upper chambers;
The earth is satisfied with (H)the fruit of Your works.

14 (I)He causes the grass to grow for the cattle,
And vegetation for the service of man,
That he may bring forth (J)food from the earth,
15 And (K)wine that makes glad the heart of man,
Oil to make his face shine,
And bread which strengthens man’s heart.
16 The trees of the Lord are full of sap,
The cedars of Lebanon which He planted,
17 Where the birds make their nests;
The stork has her home in the fir trees.
18 The high hills are for the wild goats;
The cliffs are a refuge for the (L)rock[d] badgers.

19 (M)He appointed the moon for seasons;
The (N)sun knows its going down.
20 (O)You make darkness, and it is night,
In which all the beasts of the forest creep about.
21 (P)The young lions roar after their prey,
And seek their food from God.
22 When the sun rises, they gather together
And lie down in their dens.
23 Man goes out to (Q)his work
And to his labor until the evening.

24 (R)O Lord, how manifold are Your works!
In wisdom You have made them all.
The earth is full of Your (S)possessions—
25 This great and wide sea,
In which are innumerable teeming things,
Living things both small and great.
26 There the ships sail about;
There is that (T)Leviathan[e]
Which You have [f]made to play there.

27 (U)These all wait for You,
That You may give them their food in due season.
28 What You give them they gather in;
You open Your hand, they are filled with good.
29 You hide Your face, they are troubled;
(V)You take away their breath, they die and return to their dust.
30 (W)You send forth Your Spirit, they are created;
And You renew the face of the earth.

31 May the glory of the Lord endure forever;
May the Lord (X)rejoice in His works.
32 He looks on the earth, and it (Y)trembles;
(Z)He touches the hills, and they smoke.

33 (AA)I will sing to the Lord as long as I live;
I will sing praise to my God while I have my being.
34 May my (AB)meditation be sweet to Him;
I will be glad in the Lord.
35 May (AC)sinners be consumed from the earth,
And the wicked be no more.

Bless the Lord, O my soul!
[g]Praise the Lord!

The Eternal Faithfulness of the Lord(AD)

105 Oh, (AE)give thanks to the Lord!
Call upon His name;
(AF)Make known His deeds among the peoples!
Sing to Him, sing psalms to Him;
(AG)Talk of all His wondrous works!
Glory in His holy name;
Let the hearts of those rejoice who seek the Lord!
Seek the Lord and His strength;
(AH)Seek His face evermore!
(AI)Remember His marvelous works which He has done,
His wonders, and the judgments of His mouth,
O seed of Abraham His servant,
You children of Jacob, His chosen ones!

He is the Lord our God;
(AJ)His judgments are in all the earth.
He (AK)remembers His covenant forever,
The word which He commanded, for a thousand generations,
(AL)The covenant which He made with Abraham,
And His oath to Isaac,
10 And confirmed it to Jacob for a statute,
To Israel as an everlasting covenant,
11 Saying, (AM)“To you I will give the land of Canaan
As the allotment of your inheritance,”
12 (AN)When they were few in number,
Indeed very few, (AO)and strangers in it.

13 When they went from one nation to another,
From one kingdom to another people,
14 (AP)He permitted no one to do them wrong;
Yes, (AQ)He rebuked kings for their sakes,
15 Saying, “Do not touch My anointed ones,
And do My prophets no harm.”

16 Moreover (AR)He called for a famine in the land;
He destroyed all the (AS)provision of bread.
17 (AT)He sent a man before them—
Joseph—who (AU)was sold as a slave.
18 (AV)They hurt his feet with fetters,
[h]He was laid in irons.
19 Until the time that his word came to pass,
(AW)The word of the Lord tested him.
20 (AX)The king sent and released him,
The ruler of the people let him go free.
21 (AY)He made him lord of his house,
And ruler of all his possessions,
22 To [i]bind his princes at his pleasure,
And teach his elders wisdom.

23 (AZ)Israel also came into Egypt,
And Jacob dwelt (BA)in the land of Ham.
24 (BB)He increased His people greatly,
And made them stronger than their enemies.
25 (BC)He turned their heart to hate His people,
To deal craftily with His servants.

26 (BD)He sent Moses His servant,
And Aaron whom He had chosen.
27 They (BE)performed His signs among them,
And wonders in the land of Ham.
28 He sent darkness, and made it dark;
And they did not rebel against His word.
29 (BF)He turned their waters into blood,
And killed their fish.
30 (BG)Their land abounded with frogs,
Even in the chambers of their kings.
31 (BH)He spoke, and there came swarms of flies,
And lice in all their territory.
32 (BI)He gave them hail for rain,
And flaming fire in their land.
33 (BJ)He struck their vines also, and their fig trees,
And splintered the trees of their territory.
34 (BK)He spoke, and locusts came,
Young locusts without number,
35 And ate up all the vegetation in their land,
And devoured the fruit of their ground.
36 (BL)He also [j]destroyed all the firstborn in their land,
(BM)The first of all their strength.

37 (BN)He also brought them out with silver and gold,
And there was none feeble among His tribes.
38 (BO)Egypt was glad when they departed,
For the fear of them had fallen upon them.
39 (BP)He spread a cloud for a covering,
And fire to give light in the night.
40 (BQ)The people asked, and He brought quail,
And (BR)satisfied them with the bread of heaven.
41 (BS)He opened the rock, and water gushed out;
It ran in the dry places like a river.

42 For He remembered (BT)His holy promise,
And Abraham His servant.
43 He brought out His people with joy,
His chosen ones with [k]gladness.
44 (BU)He gave them the lands of the [l]Gentiles,
And they inherited the labor of the nations,
45 (BV)That they might observe His statutes
And keep His laws.

[m]Praise the Lord!

Joy in Forgiveness of Israel’s Sins

106 Praise[n] the Lord!

(BW)Oh, give thanks to the Lord, for He is good!
For His mercy endures forever.

Who can [o]utter the mighty acts of the Lord?
Who can declare all His praise?
Blessed are those who keep justice,
And [p]he who (BX)does righteousness at (BY)all times!

(BZ)Remember me, O Lord, with the favor You have toward Your people.
Oh, visit me with Your salvation,
That I may see the benefit of Your chosen ones,
That I may rejoice in the gladness of Your nation,
That I may glory with [q]Your inheritance.

(CA)We have sinned with our fathers,
We have committed iniquity,
We have done wickedly.
Our fathers in Egypt did not understand Your wonders;
They did not remember the multitude of Your mercies,
(CB)But rebelled by the sea—the Red Sea.

Nevertheless He saved them for His name’s sake,
(CC)That He might make His mighty power known.
(CD)He rebuked the Red Sea also, and it dried up;
So (CE)He led them through the depths,
As through the wilderness.
10 He (CF)saved them from the hand of him who hated them,
And redeemed them from the hand of the enemy.
11 (CG)The waters covered their enemies;
There was not one of them left.
12 (CH)Then they believed His words;
They sang His praise.

13 (CI)They soon forgot His works;
They did not wait for His counsel,
14 (CJ)But lusted exceedingly in the wilderness,
And tested God in the desert.
15 (CK)And He gave them their request,
But (CL)sent leanness into their soul.

16 When (CM)they envied Moses in the camp,
And Aaron the saint of the Lord,
17 (CN)The earth opened up and swallowed Dathan,
And covered the faction of Abiram.
18 (CO)A fire was kindled in their company;
The flame burned up the wicked.

19 (CP)They made a calf in Horeb,
And worshiped the molded image.
20 Thus (CQ)they changed their glory
Into the image of an ox that eats grass.
21 They forgot God their Savior,
Who had done great things in Egypt,
22 Wondrous works in the land of Ham,
Awesome things by the Red Sea.
23 (CR)Therefore He said that He would destroy them,
Had not Moses His chosen one (CS)stood before Him in the breach,
To turn away His wrath, lest He destroy them.

24 Then they despised (CT)the pleasant land;
They (CU)did not believe His word,
25 (CV)But complained in their tents,
And did not heed the voice of the Lord.
26 (CW)Therefore He raised His hand in an oath against them,
(CX)To [r]overthrow them in the wilderness,
27 (CY)To [s]overthrow their descendants among the [t]nations,
And to scatter them in the lands.

28 (CZ)They joined themselves also to Baal of Peor,
And ate sacrifices [u]made to the dead.
29 Thus they provoked Him to anger with their deeds,
And the plague broke out among them.
30 (DA)Then Phinehas stood up and intervened,
And the plague was stopped.
31 And that was accounted to him (DB)for righteousness
To all generations forevermore.

32 (DC)They angered Him also at the waters of [v]strife,
(DD)So that it went ill with Moses on account of them;
33 (DE)Because they rebelled against His Spirit,
So that he spoke rashly with his lips.

34 (DF)They did not destroy the peoples,
(DG)Concerning whom the Lord had commanded them,
35 (DH)But they mingled with the Gentiles
And learned their works;
36 (DI)They served their idols,
(DJ)Which became a snare to them.
37 (DK)They even sacrificed their sons
And their daughters to (DL)demons,
38 And shed innocent blood,
The blood of their sons and daughters,
Whom they sacrificed to the idols of Canaan;
And (DM)the land was polluted with blood.
39 Thus they [w]were (DN)defiled by their own works,
And (DO)played[x] the harlot by their own deeds.

40 Therefore (DP)the wrath of the Lord was kindled against His people,
So that He abhorred (DQ)His own inheritance.
41 And (DR)He gave them into the hand of the Gentiles,
And those who hated them ruled over them.
42 Their enemies also oppressed them,
And they were brought into subjection under their hand.
43 (DS)Many times He delivered them;
But they rebelled in their counsel,
And were brought low for their iniquity.

44 Nevertheless He regarded their affliction,
When (DT)He heard their cry;
45 (DU)And for their sake He remembered His covenant,
And (DV)relented (DW)according to the multitude of His mercies.
46 (DX)He also made them to be pitied
By all those who carried them away captive.

47 (DY)Save us, O Lord our God,
And gather us from among the Gentiles,
To give thanks to Your holy name,
To triumph in Your praise.

48 (DZ)Blessed be the Lord God of Israel
From everlasting to everlasting!
And let all the people say, “Amen!”

[y]Praise the Lord!

Praise to God for His Faithfulness and Justice

111 Praise[a] the Lord!

(A)I will praise the Lord with my whole heart,
In the assembly of the upright and in the congregation.

(B)The works of the Lord are great,
(C)Studied by all who have pleasure in them.
His work is (D)honorable and glorious,
And His righteousness endures forever.
He has made His wonderful works to be remembered;
(E)The Lord is gracious and full of compassion.
He has given food to those who fear Him;
He will ever be mindful of His covenant.
He has declared to His people the power of His works,
In giving them the [b]heritage of the nations.

The works of His hands are (F)verity[c] and justice;
All His precepts are sure.
(G)They stand fast forever and ever,
And are (H)done in truth and uprightness.
(I)He has sent redemption to His people;
He has commanded His covenant forever:
(J)Holy and awesome is His name.

10 (K)The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom;
A good understanding have all those who do His commandments.
His praise endures forever.

The Blessed State of the Righteous

112 Praise[d] the Lord!

Blessed is the man who fears the Lord,
Who (L)delights greatly in His commandments.

(M)His descendants will be mighty on earth;
The generation of the upright will be blessed.
(N)Wealth and riches will be in his house,
And his righteousness [e]endures forever.
(O)Unto the upright there arises light in the darkness;
He is gracious, and full of compassion, and righteous.
(P)A good man deals graciously and lends;
He will guide his affairs (Q)with discretion.
Surely he will never be shaken;
(R)The righteous will be in everlasting remembrance.
(S)He will not be afraid of evil tidings;
His heart is steadfast, trusting in the Lord.
His (T)heart is established;
(U)He will not be afraid,
Until he (V)sees his desire upon his enemies.

He has dispersed abroad,
He has given to the poor;
His righteousness endures forever;
His [f]horn will be exalted with honor.
10 The wicked will see it and be grieved;
He will gnash his teeth and melt away;
The desire of the wicked shall perish.

The Majesty and Condescension of God

113 Praise[g] the Lord!

(W)Praise, O servants of the Lord,
Praise the name of the Lord!
(X)Blessed be the name of the Lord
From this time forth and forevermore!
(Y)From the rising of the sun to its going down
The Lord’s name is to be praised.

The Lord is (Z)high above all nations,
(AA)His glory above the heavens.
(AB)Who is like the Lord our God,
Who dwells on high,
(AC)Who humbles Himself to behold
The things that are in the heavens and in the earth?

(AD)He raises the poor out of the dust,
And lifts the (AE)needy out of the ash heap,
That He may (AF)seat him with princes—
With the princes of His people.
(AG)He grants the [h]barren woman a home,
Like a joyful mother of children.

Praise the Lord!

The Power of God in His Deliverance of Israel(AH)

114 When (AI)Israel went out of Egypt,
The house of Jacob (AJ)from a people [i]of strange language,
(AK)Judah became His sanctuary,
And Israel His dominion.

(AL)The sea saw it and fled;
(AM)Jordan turned back.
(AN)The mountains skipped like rams,
The little hills like lambs.
(AO)What ails you, O sea, that you fled?
O Jordan, that you turned back?
O mountains, that you skipped like rams?
O little hills, like lambs?

Tremble, O earth, at the presence of the Lord,
At the presence of the God of Jacob,
(AP)Who turned the rock into a pool of water,
The flint into a fountain of waters.

The Futility of Idols and the Trustworthiness of God

115 Not (AQ)unto us, O Lord, not unto us,
But to Your name give glory,
Because of Your mercy,
Because of Your truth.
Why should the [j]Gentiles say,
(AR)“So where is their God?”

(AS)But our God is in heaven;
He does whatever He pleases.
(AT)Their idols are silver and gold,
The work of men’s hands.
They have mouths, but they do not speak;
Eyes they have, but they do not see;
They have ears, but they do not hear;
Noses they have, but they do not smell;
They have hands, but they do not handle;
Feet they have, but they do not walk;
Nor do they mutter through their throat.
(AU)Those who make them are like them;
So is everyone who trusts in them.

(AV)O Israel, trust in the Lord;
(AW)He is their help and their shield.
10 O house of Aaron, trust in the Lord;
He is their help and their shield.
11 You who fear the Lord, trust in the Lord;
He is their help and their shield.

12 The Lord [k]has been mindful of us;
He will bless us;
He will bless the house of Israel;
He will bless the house of Aaron.
13 (AX)He will bless those who fear the Lord,
Both small and great.

14 May the Lord give you increase more and more,
You and your children.
15 May you be (AY)blessed by the Lord,
(AZ)Who made heaven and earth.

16 The heaven, even the heavens, are the Lord’s;
But the earth He has given to the children of men.
17 (BA)The dead do not praise the Lord,
Nor any who go down into silence.
18 (BB)But we will bless the Lord
From this time forth and forevermore.

Praise the Lord!

Thanksgiving for Deliverance from Death

116 I (BC)love the Lord, because He has heard
My voice and my supplications.
Because He has inclined His ear to me,
Therefore I will call upon Him as long as I live.

(BD)The [l]pains of death surrounded me,
And the [m]pangs of Sheol [n]laid hold of me;
I found trouble and sorrow.
Then I called upon the name of the Lord:
“O Lord, I implore You, deliver my soul!”

(BE)Gracious is the Lord, and (BF)righteous;
Yes, our God is merciful.
The Lord preserves the simple;
I was brought low, and He saved me.
Return to your (BG)rest, O my soul,
For (BH)the Lord has dealt bountifully with you.

(BI)For You have delivered my soul from death,
My eyes from tears,
And my feet from falling.
I will walk before the Lord
(BJ)In the land of the living.
10 (BK)I believed, therefore I spoke,
“I am greatly afflicted.”
11 (BL)I said in my haste,
(BM)“All men are liars.”

12 What shall I render to the Lord
For all His benefits toward me?
13 I will take up the cup of salvation,
And call upon the name of the Lord.
14 (BN)I will pay my vows to the Lord
Now in the presence of all His people.

15 (BO)Precious in the sight of the Lord
Is the death of His saints.

16 O Lord, truly (BP)I am Your servant;
I am Your servant, (BQ)the son of Your maidservant;
You have loosed my bonds.
17 I will offer to You (BR)the sacrifice of thanksgiving,
And will call upon the name of the Lord.

18 I will pay my vows to the Lord
Now in the presence of all His people,
19 In the (BS)courts of the Lord’s house,
In the midst of you, O Jerusalem.

[o]Praise the Lord!

Let All Peoples Praise the Lord

117 Praise (BT)the Lord, all you Gentiles!
[p]Laud Him, all you peoples!
For His merciful kindness is great toward us,
And (BU)the truth of the Lord endures forever.

Praise the Lord!

Praise to God in Creation and Redemption

135 Praise the Lord!

Praise the name of the Lord;
(A)Praise Him, O you servants of the Lord!
(B)You who stand in the house of the Lord,
In (C)the courts of the house of our God,
Praise the Lord, for (D)the Lord is good;
Sing praises to His name, (E)for it is pleasant.
For (F)the Lord has chosen Jacob for Himself,
Israel for His [a]special treasure.

For I know that (G)the Lord is great,
And our Lord is above all gods.
(H)Whatever the Lord pleases He does,
In heaven and in earth,
In the seas and in all deep places.
(I)He causes the [b]vapors to ascend from the ends of the earth;
(J)He makes lightning for the rain;
He brings the wind out of His (K)treasuries.

(L)He [c]destroyed the firstborn of Egypt,
[d]Both of man and beast.
(M)He sent signs and wonders into the midst of you, O Egypt,
(N)Upon Pharaoh and all his servants.
10 (O)He defeated many nations
And slew mighty kings—
11 Sihon king of the Amorites,
Og king of Bashan,
And (P)all the kingdoms of Canaan—
12 (Q)And gave their land as a [e]heritage,
A heritage to Israel His people.

13 (R)Your name, O Lord, endures forever,
Your fame, O Lord, throughout all generations.
14 (S)For the Lord will judge His people,
And He will have compassion on His servants.

15 (T)The idols of the nations are silver and gold,
The work of men’s hands.
16 They have mouths, but they do not speak;
Eyes they have, but they do not see;
17 They have ears, but they do not hear;
Nor is there any breath in their mouths.
18 Those who make them are like them;
So is everyone who trusts in them.

19 (U)Bless the Lord, O house of Israel!
Bless the Lord, O house of Aaron!
20 Bless the Lord, O house of Levi!
You who fear the Lord, bless the Lord!
21 Blessed be the Lord (V)out of Zion,
Who dwells in Jerusalem!

Praise the Lord!

A Song of God’s Majesty and Love

(A)A Praise of David.

145 I will [a]extol You, my God, O King;
And I will bless Your name forever and ever.
Every day I will bless You,
And I will praise Your name forever and ever.
(B)Great is the Lord, and greatly to be praised;
And (C)His greatness is [b]unsearchable.

(D)One generation shall praise Your works to another,
And shall declare Your mighty acts.
[c]I will meditate on the glorious splendor of Your majesty,
And [d]on Your wondrous works.
Men shall speak of the might of Your awesome acts,
And I will declare Your greatness.
They shall [e]utter the memory of Your great goodness,
And shall sing of Your righteousness.

(E)The Lord is gracious and full of compassion,
Slow to anger and great in mercy.
(F)The Lord is good to all,
And His tender mercies are over all His works.

10 (G)All Your works shall praise You, O Lord,
And Your saints shall bless You.
11 They shall speak of the glory of Your kingdom,
And talk of Your power,
12 To make known to the sons of men His mighty acts,
And the glorious majesty of His kingdom.
13 (H)Your kingdom is an everlasting kingdom,
And Your dominion endures throughout all [f]generations.

14 The Lord upholds all who fall,
And (I)raises up all who are bowed down.
15 (J)The eyes of all look expectantly to You,
And (K)You give them their food in due season.
16 You open Your hand
(L)And satisfy the desire of every living thing.

17 The Lord is righteous in all His ways,
Gracious in all His works.
18 (M)The Lord is near to all who call upon Him,
To all who call upon Him (N)in truth.
19 He will fulfill the desire of those who fear Him;
He also will hear their cry and save them.
20 (O)The Lord preserves all who love Him,
But all the wicked He will destroy.
21 My mouth shall speak the praise of the Lord,
And all flesh shall bless His holy name
Forever and ever.

The Happiness of Those Whose Help Is the Lord

146 Praise[g] the Lord!

(P)Praise the Lord, O my soul!
(Q)While I live I will praise the Lord;
I will sing praises to my God while I have my being.

(R)Do not put your trust in princes,
Nor in [h]a son of man, in whom there is no [i]help.
(S)His spirit departs, he returns to his earth;
In that very day (T)his plans perish.

(U)Happy is he who has the God of Jacob for his help,
Whose hope is in the Lord his God,
(V)Who made heaven and earth,
The sea, and all that is in them;
Who keeps truth forever,
(W)Who executes justice for the oppressed,
(X)Who gives food to the hungry.
(Y)The Lord gives freedom to the prisoners.

(Z)The Lord opens the eyes of the blind;
(AA)The Lord raises those who are bowed down;
The Lord loves the righteous.
(AB)The Lord watches over the strangers;
He relieves the fatherless and widow;
(AC)But the way of the wicked He [j]turns upside down.

10 (AD)The Lord shall reign forever—
Your God, O Zion, to all generations.

Praise the Lord!

Praise to God for His Word and Providence

147 Praise[k] the Lord!
For (AE)it is good to sing praises to our God;
(AF)For it is pleasant, and (AG)praise is beautiful.

The Lord (AH)builds up Jerusalem;
(AI)He gathers together the outcasts of Israel.
(AJ)He heals the brokenhearted
And binds up their [l]wounds.
(AK)He counts the number of the stars;
He calls them all by name.
(AL)Great is our Lord, and (AM)mighty in power;
(AN)His understanding is infinite.
(AO)The Lord lifts up the humble;
He casts the wicked down to the ground.

Sing to the Lord with thanksgiving;
Sing praises on the harp to our God,
(AP)Who covers the heavens with clouds,
Who prepares rain for the earth,
Who makes grass to grow on the mountains.
(AQ)He gives to the beast its food,
And (AR)to the young ravens that cry.

10 (AS)He does not delight in the strength of the horse;
He takes no pleasure in the legs of a man.
11 The Lord takes pleasure in those who fear Him,
In those who hope in His mercy.

12 Praise the Lord, O Jerusalem!
Praise your God, O Zion!
13 For He has strengthened the bars of your gates;
He has blessed your children within you.
14 (AT)He makes peace in your borders,
And (AU)fills you with [m]the finest wheat.

15 (AV)He sends out His command to the earth;
His word runs very swiftly.
16 (AW)He gives snow like wool;
He scatters the frost like ashes;
17 He casts out His hail like [n]morsels;
Who can stand before His cold?
18 (AX)He sends out His word and melts them;
He causes His wind to blow, and the waters flow.

19 (AY)He declares His word to Jacob,
(AZ)His statutes and His judgments to Israel.
20 (BA)He has not dealt thus with any nation;
And as for His judgments, they have not known them.

[o]Praise the Lord!

Praise to the Lord from Creation

148 Praise[p] the Lord!

Praise the Lord from the heavens;
Praise Him in the heights!
Praise Him, all His angels;
Praise Him, all His hosts!
Praise Him, sun and moon;
Praise Him, all you stars of light!
Praise Him, (BB)you heavens of heavens,
And (BC)you waters above the heavens!

Let them praise the name of the Lord,
For (BD)He commanded and they were created.
(BE)He also established them forever and ever;
He made a decree which shall not pass away.

Praise the Lord from the earth,
(BF)You great sea creatures and all the depths;
Fire and hail, snow and clouds;
Stormy wind, fulfilling His word;
(BG)Mountains and all hills;
Fruitful trees and all cedars;
10 Beasts and all cattle;
Creeping things and flying fowl;
11 Kings of the earth and all peoples;
Princes and all judges of the earth;
12 Both young men and maidens;
Old men and children.

13 Let them praise the name of the Lord,
For His (BH)name alone is exalted;
His glory is above the earth and heaven.
14 And He (BI)has exalted the [q]horn of His people,
The praise of (BJ)all His saints—
Of the children of Israel,
(BK)A people near to Him.

[r]Praise the Lord!

Praise to God for His Salvation and Judgment

149 Praise[s] the Lord!

(BL)Sing to the Lord a new song,
And His praise in the assembly of saints.

Let Israel rejoice in their Maker;
Let the children of Zion be joyful in their (BM)King.
(BN)Let them praise His name with the dance;
Let them sing praises to Him with the timbrel and harp.
For (BO)the Lord takes pleasure in His people;
(BP)He will beautify the [t]humble with salvation.

Let the saints be joyful in glory;
Let them (BQ)sing aloud on their beds.
Let the high praises of God be in their mouth,
And (BR)a two-edged sword in their hand,
To execute vengeance on the nations,
And punishments on the peoples;
To bind their kings with chains,
And their nobles with fetters of iron;
(BS)To execute on them the written judgment—
(BT)This honor have all His saints.

[u]Praise the Lord!

Let All Things Praise the Lord

150 Praise(BU)[v] the Lord!

Praise God in His sanctuary;
Praise Him in His mighty [w]firmament!

Praise Him for His mighty acts;
Praise Him according to His excellent (BV)greatness!

Praise Him with the sound of the [x]trumpet;
Praise Him with the lute and harp!
Praise Him with the timbrel and dance;
Praise Him with stringed instruments and flutes!
Praise Him with loud cymbals;
Praise Him with clashing cymbals!

Let everything that has breath praise the Lord.

[y]Praise the Lord!
