1 Lăudaţi pe Domnul!
Lăudaţi(A) pe(B) Domnul, căci este bun,
căci îndurarea Lui ţine în veci!
2 Cine(C) va putea spune isprăvile măreţe ale Domnului?
Cine va putea vesti toată lauda Lui?
3 Ferice de cei ce păzesc Legea,
de cei ce înfăptuiesc dreptatea(D) în orice(E) vreme!
4 Adu-Ţi(F) aminte de mine, Doamne, în bunăvoinţa Ta pentru poporul Tău!
Adu-Ţi aminte de mine şi dă-i ajutorul Tău,
5 ca să văd fericirea aleşilor Tăi,
să mă bucur de bucuria poporului Tău
şi să mă laud cu moştenirea Ta!
6 Noi am păcătuit(G), ca şi părinţii noştri,
am săvârşit nelegiuirea, am făcut rău.
7 Părinţii noştri în Egipt n-au luat aminte la minunile Tale,
nu şi-au adus aminte de mulţimea îndurărilor Tale şi(H) au fost neascultători la mare, la Marea Roşie.
8 Dar El i-a scăpat din pricina Numelui(I) Lui,
ca(J) să-Şi arate puterea.
9 A mustrat(K) Marea Roşie, şi ea s-a uscat,
şi i-a trecut(L) prin adâncuri ca printr-un pustiu.
10 I-a scăpat(M) din mâna celui ce-i ura
şi i-a izbăvit din mâna vrăjmaşului.
11 Apele(N) au acoperit pe potrivnicii lor.
N-a rămas unul măcar din ei.
12 Atunci(O), ei au crezut în cuvintele Lui şi au cântat laudele Lui.
13 Dar au uitat curând(P) lucrările Lui
şi n-au aşteptat împlinirea planurilor Lui.
14 Ci(Q) i-a apucat pofta în pustie
şi au ispitit pe Dumnezeu în pustietate.
15 El(R) le-a dat ce cereau,
dar a trimis(S) o molimă printre ei.
16 În tabără au fost geloşi(T) pe Moise
şi pe Aaron, sfântul Domnului.
17 Atunci s-a deschis(U) pământul şi a înghiţit pe Datan,
şi s-a închis deasupra cetei lui Abiram.
18 Focul(V) le-a aprins ceata
şi flacăra a mistuit pe cei răi.
19 Au făcut un(W) viţel în Horeb.
S-au închinat înaintea unui chip turnat
20 şi au schimbat(X) Slava lor
pe chipul unui bou, care mănâncă iarbă.
21 Au uitat(Y) pe Dumnezeu, Mântuitorul lor,
care făcuse lucruri mari în Egipt,
22 minuni în ţara(Z) lui Ham,
semne minunate la Marea Roşie.
23 Şi(AA) El a vorbit să-i nimicească,
dar Moise, alesul Său, a stat(AB) la mijloc înaintea Lui,
ca să-L abată de la mânia Lui şi să-L oprească să-i nimicească.
24 Ei au nesocotit ţara(AC) desfătărilor;
n-au(AD) crezut în Cuvântul Domnului,
25 ci(AE) au cârtit în corturile lor
şi n-au ascultat de glasul Lui.
26 Atunci(AF), El a ridicat(AG) mâna şi a jurat
că-i va face să cadă în pustie,
27 că(AH) le va doborî sămânţa printre neamuri
şi-i va împrăştia în mijlocul ţărilor.
28 Ei(AI) s-au alipit de Baal-Peor,
şi au mâncat vite jertfite morţilor.
29 Au mâniat astfel pe Domnul prin faptele lor,
şi o urgie a izbucnit între ei.
30 Dar(AJ) Fineas s-a sculat şi a făcut judecată,
şi astfel urgia s-a oprit.
31 Lucrul acesta i-a fost socotit ca(AK) o stare de neprihănire
din neam în neam, pe vecie.
32 Ei(AL) au mâniat pe Domnul la apele Meriba
şi(AM) Moise a fost pedepsit din pricina lor.
33 Căci(AN) s-au răzvrătit împotriva Duhului Lui,
şi Moise a vorbit în chip uşuratic cu buzele.
34 Ei n-au(AO) nimicit popoarele
pe(AP) care le poruncise Domnul să le nimicească.
35 Ci(AQ) s-au amestecat cu neamurile
şi au învăţat faptele lor,
36 au(AR) slujit idolilor lor,
care(AS) au fost o cursă pentru ei.
37 Şi-au jertfit(AT) fiii şi fiicele la idoli(AU),
38 au vărsat sânge nevinovat, sângele fiilor şi fiicelor lor,
pe care i-au jertfit idolilor din Canaan,
şi ţara(AV) a fost spurcată astfel prin omoruri.
39 S-au spurcat(AW) prin faptele lor,
s-au desfrânat(AX) prin faptele lor.
40 Atunci, Domnul S-a aprins(AY) de mânie împotriva poporului Său
şi a urât moştenirea(AZ) Lui.
41 I-a dat(BA) în mâinile neamurilor,
cei ce îi urau au stăpânit peste ei,
42 vrăjmaşii lor i-au asuprit
şi au fost smeriţi sub puterea lor.
43 El de(BB) mai multe ori i-a izbăvit,
dar ei s-au arătat neascultători în planurile lor
şi au ajuns nenorociţi prin nelegiuirea lor.
44 Dar El le-a văzut strâmtorarea
când le-a auzit(BC) strigătele.
45 Şi-a(BD) adus aminte de legământul Său
şi a(BE) avut milă de ei după(BF) bunătatea Lui cea mare:
46 a(BG) stârnit pentru ei mila
tuturor celor ce-i ţineau prinşi de război.
47 Scapă-ne(BH), Doamne, Dumnezeul nostru,
şi strânge-ne din mijlocul neamurilor,
ca să lăudăm Numele Tău cel sfânt
şi să ne fălim cu lauda Ta!
48 Binecuvântat(BI) să fie Domnul, Dumnezeul lui Israel,
din veşnicie în veşnicie!
Şi tot poporul să zică: „Amin!
Lăudaţi pe Domnul!”

2 Who can proclaim the mighty acts(E) of the Lord
or fully declare his praise?
3 Blessed are those who act justly,(F)
who always do what is right.(G)
4 Remember me,(H) Lord, when you show favor(I) to your people,
come to my aid(J) when you save them,
5 that I may enjoy the prosperity(K) of your chosen ones,(L)
that I may share in the joy(M) of your nation
and join your inheritance(N) in giving praise.
6 We have sinned,(O) even as our ancestors(P) did;
we have done wrong and acted wickedly.(Q)
7 When our ancestors were in Egypt,
they gave no thought(R) to your miracles;
they did not remember(S) your many kindnesses,
and they rebelled by the sea,(T) the Red Sea.[b]
8 Yet he saved them(U) for his name’s sake,(V)
to make his mighty power(W) known.
9 He rebuked(X) the Red Sea, and it dried up;(Y)
he led them through(Z) the depths as through a desert.
10 He saved them(AA) from the hand of the foe;(AB)
from the hand of the enemy he redeemed them.(AC)
11 The waters covered(AD) their adversaries;
not one of them survived.
12 Then they believed his promises
and sang his praise.(AE)
13 But they soon forgot(AF) what he had done
and did not wait for his plan to unfold.(AG)
14 In the desert(AH) they gave in to their craving;
in the wilderness(AI) they put God to the test.(AJ)
15 So he gave them(AK) what they asked for,
but sent a wasting disease(AL) among them.
16 In the camp they grew envious(AM) of Moses
and of Aaron, who was consecrated to the Lord.
17 The earth opened(AN) up and swallowed Dathan;(AO)
it buried the company of Abiram.(AP)
18 Fire blazed(AQ) among their followers;
a flame consumed the wicked.
19 At Horeb they made a calf(AR)
and worshiped an idol cast from metal.
20 They exchanged their glorious God(AS)
for an image of a bull, which eats grass.
21 They forgot the God(AT) who saved them,
who had done great things(AU) in Egypt,
22 miracles in the land of Ham(AV)
and awesome deeds(AW) by the Red Sea.
23 So he said he would destroy(AX) them—
had not Moses, his chosen one,
stood in the breach(AY) before him
to keep his wrath from destroying them.
24 Then they despised(AZ) the pleasant land;(BA)
they did not believe(BB) his promise.
25 They grumbled(BC) in their tents
and did not obey the Lord.
26 So he swore(BD) to them with uplifted hand
that he would make them fall in the wilderness,(BE)
27 make their descendants fall among the nations
and scatter(BF) them throughout the lands.
28 They yoked themselves to the Baal of Peor(BG)
and ate sacrifices offered to lifeless gods;
29 they aroused the Lord’s anger(BH) by their wicked deeds,(BI)
and a plague(BJ) broke out among them.
30 But Phinehas(BK) stood up and intervened,
and the plague was checked.(BL)
31 This was credited to him(BM) as righteousness
for endless generations(BN) to come.
32 By the waters of Meribah(BO) they angered the Lord,
and trouble came to Moses because of them;
33 for they rebelled(BP) against the Spirit(BQ) of God,
and rash words came from Moses’ lips.[c](BR)
34 They did not destroy(BS) the peoples
as the Lord had commanded(BT) them,
35 but they mingled(BU) with the nations
and adopted their customs.
36 They worshiped their idols,(BV)
which became a snare(BW) to them.
37 They sacrificed their sons(BX)
and their daughters to false gods.(BY)
38 They shed innocent blood,
the blood of their sons(BZ) and daughters,
whom they sacrificed to the idols of Canaan,
and the land was desecrated by their blood.
39 They defiled themselves(CA) by what they did;
by their deeds they prostituted(CB) themselves.
40 Therefore the Lord was angry(CC) with his people
and abhorred his inheritance.(CD)
41 He gave them into the hands(CE) of the nations,
and their foes ruled over them.
42 Their enemies oppressed(CF) them
and subjected them to their power.
43 Many times he delivered them,(CG)
but they were bent on rebellion(CH)
and they wasted away in their sin.
44 Yet he took note of their distress
when he heard their cry;(CI)
45 for their sake he remembered his covenant(CJ)
and out of his great love(CK) he relented.(CL)
46 He caused all who held them captive
to show them mercy.(CM)
47 Save us,(CN) Lord our God,
and gather us(CO) from the nations,
that we may give thanks(CP) to your holy name(CQ)
and glory in your praise.
48 Praise be to the Lord, the God of Israel,
from everlasting to everlasting.
Let all the people say, “Amen!”(CR)
Praise the Lord.

106 Hallelujah!
Give thanks to the Lord because he is good,
because his mercy endures forever.
2 Who can speak about all the mighty things the Lord has done?
Who can announce all the things for which he is worthy of praise?
3 Blessed are those who defend justice
and do what is right at all times.
4 Remember me, O Lord, when you show favor to your people.
Come to help me with your salvation
5 so that I may see the prosperity of your chosen ones,
find joy in our people’s happiness,
and brag with the people who belong to you.
6 We have sinned, and so did our ancestors.
We have done wrong.
We are guilty.
7 When our ancestors were in Egypt,
they gave no thought to your miracles.
They did not remember your numerous acts of mercy,
so they rebelled at the sea, the Red Sea.
8 He saved them because of his reputation
so that he could make his mighty power known.
9 He angrily commanded the Red Sea, and it dried up.
He led them through deep water as though it were a desert.
10 He rescued them from the power of the one who hated them.
He rescued them from the enemy.
11 Water covered their adversaries.
Not one Egyptian survived.
12 Then our ancestors believed what he said.
They sang his praise.
13 They quickly forgot what he did.
They did not wait for his advice.
14 They had an unreasonable desire ⌞for food⌟ in the wilderness.
In the desert they tested God.
15 He gave them what they asked for.
He ⌞also⌟ gave them a degenerative disease.
16 In the camp certain men became envious of Moses.
They also became envious of Aaron, the Lord’s holy one.
17 The ground split open and swallowed Dathan.
It buried Abiram’s followers.
18 A fire broke out among their followers.
Flames burned up wicked people.
19 At Mount Horeb they made ⌞a statue of⌟ a calf.
They worshiped an idol made of metal.
20 They traded their glorious God [a]
for the statue of a bull that eats grass.
21 They forgot God, their savior,
the one who did spectacular things in Egypt,
22 miracles in the land of Ham,
and terrifying things at the Red Sea.
23 God said he was going to destroy them,
but Moses, his chosen one, stood in his way
to prevent him from exterminating them.
24 They refused ⌞to enter⌟ the pleasant land.
They did not believe what he said.
25 They complained in their tents.
They did not obey the Lord.
26 Raising his hand, he swore
that he would kill them in the wilderness,
27 kill their descendants among the nations,
and scatter them throughout various lands.
28 They joined in worshiping the god Baal while they were at Peor,
and they ate what was sacrificed to the dead.
29 They infuriated God by what they did,
and a plague broke out among them.
30 Then Phinehas stood between God and the people,
and the plague was stopped.
31 Because of this, Phinehas was considered righteous forever,
throughout every generation.
32 They made God angry by the water at Meribah.
Things turned out badly for Moses because of what they did,
33 since they made him bitter so that he spoke recklessly.
34 They did not destroy the people as the Lord had told them.
35 Instead, they intermarried with other nations.
They learned to do what other nations did,
36 and they worshiped their idols,
which became a trap for them.
37 They sacrificed their sons and daughters to demons.
38 They shed innocent blood,
the blood of their own sons and daughters
whom they sacrificed to the idols of Canaan.
The land became polluted with blood.
39 They became filthy because of what they did.
They behaved like prostitutes.
40 The Lord burned with anger against his own people.
He was disgusted with those who belonged to him.
41 He handed them over to other nations,
and those who hated them ruled them.
42 Their enemies oppressed them
and made them subject to their power.
43 He rescued them many times,
but they continued to plot rebellion against him
and to sink deeper because of their sin.
44 He saw that they were suffering
when he heard their cry for help.
45 He remembered his promise [b] to them.
In keeping with his rich mercy, he changed his plans.
46 He let them find compassion
from all those who held them captive.
47 Rescue us, O Lord our God, and gather us from the nations
so that we may give thanks to your holy name
and make your praise our glory.
48 Thanks be to the Lord God of Israel
from everlasting to everlasting.
Let all the people say amen.
