The Lord Reigns

97 (A)The Lord reigns, (B)let the earth rejoice;
    let the many (C)coastlands be glad!
(D)Clouds and thick darkness are all around him;
    (E)righteousness and justice are the foundation of his throne.
(F)Fire goes before him
    and burns up his adversaries all around.
His (G)lightnings light up the world;
    the earth sees and (H)trembles.
The mountains (I)melt like (J)wax before the Lord,
    before (K)the Lord of all the earth.

(L)The heavens proclaim his righteousness,
    and all (M)the peoples see his glory.
All worshipers of images are (N)put to shame,
    who make their boast in (O)worthless idols;
    (P)worship him, all you gods!

Zion hears and (Q)is glad,
    and the daughters of Judah rejoice,
    because of your judgments, O Lord.
For you, O Lord, are (R)most high over all the earth;
    you are exalted far above (S)all gods.

10 O you who love the Lord, (T)hate evil!
    He (U)preserves the lives of his (V)saints;
    he (W)delivers them from the hand of the wicked.
11 (X)Light (Y)is sown[a] for the righteous,
    and joy for the upright in heart.
12 (Z)Rejoice in the Lord, O you righteous,
    and (AA)give thanks to his holy name!

The Command to Leave Sinai

33 The Lord said to Moses, “Depart; go up from here, you (A)and the people whom you have brought up out of the land of Egypt, to the land of which I swore to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, saying, ‘To (B)your offspring I will give it.’ I will send an (C)angel before you, (D)and I will drive out the Canaanites, the Amorites, the Hittites, the Perizzites, the Hivites, and the Jebusites. (E)Go up to a land flowing with milk and honey; (F)but I will not go up among you, (G)lest I consume you on the way, for you are a (H)stiff-necked people.”

When the people heard this disastrous word, they (I)mourned, and (J)no one put on his ornaments. For the Lord had said to Moses, “Say to the people of Israel, ‘You are a (K)stiff-necked people; if for a single moment I should go up among you, I would (L)consume you. So now (M)take off your ornaments, that I may know what to do with you.’” Therefore the people of Israel stripped themselves of their ornaments, from Mount Horeb onward.

13 Brothers, I do not consider that I have made it my own. But one thing I do: (A)forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead, 14 I press on toward the goal for (B)the prize of the upward (C)call of God in Christ Jesus. 15 Let those of us who are (D)mature think this way, and if in anything (E)you think otherwise, (F)God will reveal that also to you. 16 Only (G)let us hold true to what we have attained.

17 Brothers, (H)join in imitating me, and keep your eyes on those who walk (I)according to the example you have in us. 18 For (J)many, of whom I have often told you and now tell you (K)even with tears, walk as enemies of the cross of Christ. 19 (L)Their end is destruction, (M)their god is their belly, and (N)they glory in their shame, with (O)minds set on earthly things. 20 But (P)our citizenship is in heaven, and (Q)from it we (R)await a Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, 21 who will transform (S)our lowly body (T)to be like his glorious body, (U)by the power that enables him even (V)to subject all things to himself.

Therefore, my brothers,[a] whom I love and (W)long for, (X)my joy and (Y)crown, (Z)stand firm thus in the Lord, my beloved.
