Psalm 84
Easy-to-Read Version
To the director: On the gittith. A song of praise from the Korah family.
84 Lord All-Powerful, the place where you live is so beautiful!
2 Lord, I cannot wait to enter your Temple.
I am so excited!
Every part of me cries out to be with the Living God.
3 Lord All-Powerful, my King, my God,
even the birds have found a home in your Temple.
They make their nests near your altar,
and there they have their babies.
4 Great blessings belong to those who live at your Temple!
They continue to praise you. Selah
5 Great blessings belong to those who depend on you for strength!
Their heart’s desire is to make the trip to your Temple.
6 They travel through Baca Valley,
which God has made into a place of springs.
Autumn rains form pools of water there.
7 The people travel from town to town[a]
on their way to Zion, where they will meet with God.
8 Lord God All-Powerful, listen to my prayer.
God of Jacob, listen to me. Selah
9 God, watch over the king, our protector.[b]
Be kind to him, the one you have chosen.
10 One day in your Temple is better
than a thousand days anywhere else.
Serving as a guard at the gate of my God’s house is better
than living in the homes of the wicked.
11 The Lord God is our protector and glorious king.[c]
He blesses us with kindness and honor.
The Lord freely gives every good thing
to those who do what is right.
12 Lord All-Powerful,
great blessings belong to those who trust in you!

Psalm 84
1 Dem Vorsänger. Auf der Gittit. Von den Söhnen Korahs. Ein Psalm.
2 Wie lieblich sind deine Wohnungen,
o Herr der Heerscharen!
3 Meine Seele verlangte und sehnte sich
nach den Vorhöfen des Herrn;
nun jubeln mein Herz und mein Leib
dem lebendigen Gott zu!
4 Hat doch der Sperling ein Haus gefunden
und die Schwalbe ein Nest für sich,
wo sie ihre Jungen hinlegen kann:
deine Altäre, o Herr der Heerscharen,
mein König und mein Gott!
5 Wohl denen, die in deinem Haus wohnen;
sie preisen dich allezeit! (Sela.)
6 Wohl dem Menschen, dessen Stärke in dir liegt,
[wohl denen], in deren Herzen gebahnte Wege sind![a]
9 Herr, Gott der Heerscharen, höre mein Gebet;
du Gott Jakobs, achte darauf! (Sela.)
10 O Gott, unser Schild, sieh doch;
blicke auf das Angesicht deines Gesalbten[c]!
11 Denn ein Tag in deinen Vorhöfen ist besser als sonst tausend;
ich will lieber an der Schwelle im Haus meines Gottes stehen,
als wohnen in den Zelten der Gottlosen![d]
12 Denn Gott, der Herr, ist Sonne und Schild;
der Herr gibt Gnade und Herrlichkeit,
wer in Lauterkeit wandelt, dem versagt er nichts Gutes.
13 O Herr der Heerscharen,
wohl dem Menschen, der auf dich vertraut!

Psalm 84
New King James Version
The Blessedness of Dwelling in the House of God
To the Chief Musician. (A)On[a] an instrument of Gath. A Psalm of the sons of Korah.
84 How (B)lovely [b]is Your tabernacle,
O Lord of hosts!
2 (C)My soul longs, yes, even faints
For the courts of the Lord;
My heart and my flesh cry out for the living God.
3 Even the sparrow has found a home,
And the swallow a nest for herself,
Where she may lay her young—
Even Your altars, O Lord of hosts,
My King and my God.
4 Blessed are those who dwell in Your (D)house;
They will still be praising You. Selah
5 Blessed is the man whose strength is in You,
Whose heart is set on pilgrimage.
6 As they pass through the Valley (E)of [c]Baca,
They make it a spring;
The rain also covers it with [d]pools.
7 They go (F)from strength to strength;
[e]Each one (G)appears before God in Zion.
8 O Lord God of hosts, hear my prayer;
Give ear, O God of Jacob! Selah
9 (H)O God, behold our shield,
And look upon the face of Your [f]anointed.
10 For a day in Your courts is better than a thousand.
I would rather [g]be a doorkeeper in the house of my God
Than dwell in the tents of wickedness.
11 For the Lord God is (I)a sun and (J)shield;
The Lord will give grace and glory;
(K)No good thing will He withhold
From those who walk uprightly.
12 O Lord of hosts,
(L)Blessed is the man who trusts in You!
