God Shall Scatter His Enemies

To the choirmaster. A Psalm of David. A Song.

68 (A)God shall arise, his enemies shall be (B)scattered;
    and those who hate him shall flee before him!
As (C)smoke is driven away, so you shall drive them away;
    (D)as wax melts before fire,
    so the wicked shall perish before God!
But (E)the righteous shall be glad;
    they shall exult before God;
    they shall be jubilant with joy!

Sing to God, (F)sing praises to his name;
    (G)lift up a song to him who (H)rides through (I)the deserts;
his name is (J)the Lord;
    exult before him!
(K)Father of the fatherless and (L)protector of widows
    is God in his holy habitation.
God (M)settles the solitary in a home;
    he (N)leads out the prisoners to prosperity,
    but (O)the rebellious dwell in (P)a parched land.

O God, when you (Q)went out before your people,
    (R)when you marched through (S)the wilderness, Selah
(T)the earth quaked, the heavens poured down rain,
    before God, the One of Sinai,
    before God,[a] the God of Israel.
(U)Rain in abundance, O God, you shed abroad;
    you restored your inheritance as it languished;
10 your flock[b] found a dwelling in it;
    in your goodness, O God, you (V)provided for the needy.

The High Priestly Prayer

17 When Jesus had spoken these words, (A)he lifted up his eyes to heaven, and said, “Father, (B)the hour has come; (C)glorify your Son that the Son may (D)glorify you, since (E)you have given him authority over all flesh, (F)to give eternal life to all (G)whom you have given him. (H)And this is eternal life, (I)that they know you, (J)the only (K)true God, and (L)Jesus Christ whom you have sent. I (M)glorified you on earth, (N)having accomplished the work that you gave me to do. And now, Father, (O)glorify me in your own presence with the glory (P)that I had with you (Q)before the world existed.

(R)“I have manifested your name to the people (S)whom you gave me out of the world. (T)Yours they were, and you gave them to me, and they have kept your word. Now they know that everything (U)that you have given me is from you. For I have given them (V)the words that you gave me, and they have received them and have come to know in truth that (W)I came from you; and (X)they have believed that you sent me. I am praying for them. (Y)I am not praying for the world but for those (Z)whom you have given me, for (AA)they are yours. 10 (AB)All mine are yours, and yours are mine, and (AC)I am glorified in them. 11 And I am no longer in the world, but (AD)they are in the world, and (AE)I am coming to you. (AF)Holy Father, (AG)keep them in your name, (AH)which you have given me, (AI)that they may be one, (AJ)even as we are one.

The Ascension

So when they had come together, they asked him, “Lord, (A)will you at this time (B)restore the kingdom to Israel?” He said to them, (C)“It is not for you to know (D)times or seasons that the Father has fixed by his own authority. But you will receive (E)power (F)when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and (G)you will be (H)my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and (I)Samaria, and (J)to the end of the earth.” And when he had said these things, as they were looking on, (K)he was lifted up, and (L)a cloud took him out of their sight. 10 And while they were gazing into heaven as he went, behold, (M)two (N)men stood by them in (O)white robes, 11 and said, (P)“Men of Galilee, why do you stand looking into heaven? This Jesus, who was taken up from you into heaven, (Q)will (R)come in the same way as you saw him go into heaven.”

12 Then (S)they returned to Jerusalem from the mount called Olivet, which is near Jerusalem, a Sabbath day's journey away. 13 And when they had entered, they went up to (T)the upper room, where they were staying, (U)Peter and John and James and Andrew, Philip and Thomas, Bartholomew and Matthew, James the son of Alphaeus and Simon (V)the Zealot and Judas the son of James. 14 All these (W)with one accord (X)were devoting themselves to prayer, together with (Y)the women and Mary the mother of Jesus, and (Z)his brothers.[a]

Suffering as a Christian

12 Beloved, do not be surprised at (A)the fiery trial when it comes upon you to test you, as though something strange were happening to you. 13 But rejoice (B)insofar as you share Christ's sufferings, that you may also rejoice and be glad (C)when his glory is revealed. 14 (D)If you are insulted (E)for the name of Christ, you are blessed, because the Spirit of glory[a] and of God rests upon you.
