Zion, the City of Our God
A Song. A Psalm of (A)the Sons of Korah.
48 (B)Great is the Lord and greatly to be praised
in (C)the city of our God!
His (D)holy mountain, 2 (E)beautiful in elevation,
is (F)the joy of all the earth,
Mount Zion, in the far north,
(G)the city of the great King.
3 Within her citadels God
has made himself known as a fortress.
4 For behold, (H)the kings assembled;
they came on together.
5 As soon as they saw it, they were astounded;
they were in panic; they took to flight.
6 (I)Trembling took hold of them there,
anguish (J)as of a woman in labor.
7 By (K)the east wind you (L)shattered
the ships of (M)Tarshish.
8 As we have heard, so have we seen
in the city of the Lord of hosts,
in (N)the city of our God,
which God will (O)establish forever. Selah
9 We have thought on your (P)steadfast love, O God,
in the midst of your temple.
10 As your (Q)name, O God,
so your praise reaches to (R)the ends of the earth.
Your right hand is filled with righteousness.
11 Let Mount (S)Zion be glad!
Let (T)the daughters of Judah rejoice
because of your judgments!
12 Walk about Zion, go around her,
number her towers,
13 consider well her (U)ramparts,
go through her citadels,
(V)that you may tell the next generation
14 that this is God,
our God forever and ever.
He will (W)guide us forever.[a]

A Song. A Psalm of the Korahites.
1 Great is the Lord and greatly to be praised
in the city of our God.
His holy mountain, 2 beautiful in elevation,
is the joy of all the earth,
Mount Zion, in the far north,
the city of the great King.
3 Within its citadels God
has shown himself a sure defense.
4 Then the kings assembled,
they came on together.
5 As soon as they saw it, they were astounded;
they were in panic, they took to flight;
6 trembling took hold of them there,
pains as of a woman in labor,
7 as when an east wind shatters
the ships of Tarshish.
8 As we have heard, so have we seen
in the city of the Lord of hosts,
in the city of our God,
which God establishes forever.Selah
9 We ponder your steadfast love, O God,
in the midst of your temple.
10 Your name, O God, like your praise,
reaches to the ends of the earth.
Your right hand is filled with victory.
11 Let Mount Zion be glad,
let the towns[a] of Judah rejoice
because of your judgments.
12 Walk about Zion, go all around it,
count its towers,
13 consider well its ramparts;
go through its citadels,
that you may tell the next generation
14 that this is God,
our God forever and ever.
He will be our guide forever.

1 Chúa thật vĩ đại thay!
Ngài đáng được ca ngợi hết lòng trong thành của Ðức Chúa Trời chúng ta, trên núi thánh của Ngài.
2 Núi Si-ôn nổi bật ở phương bắc thật đẹp đẽ thay;
Ðó là niềm vui của cả thế giới, là kinh đô của Vua cao cả.
3 Ðức Chúa Trời hiện diện trong các chiến lũy của thành;
Ngài được thiên hạ biết rằng chính Ngài là đồn lũy của thành.
4 Vì kìa, các vua nhóm nhau lại,
Ðể cùng nhau tấn công thành;
5 Nhưng vừa khi thấy nó, họ đều kinh ngạc;
Họ hoảng kinh và cùng nhau chạy trốn.
6 Nỗi kinh hoàng phủ lấy họ;
Họ đau đớn như sản phụ sắp lâm bồn.
7 Ngài đập tan họ,
Như ngọn gió đông đập vỡ những tàu lớn đến từ Tạt-si.
8 Chúng ta đã nghe nói thể nào thì chúng ta đã thấy thể ấy trong thành của Chúa các đạo quân, tức trong thành của Ðức Chúa Trời chúng ta:
Ðức Chúa Trời sẽ lập cho thành vững bền đời đời. (Sê-la)
9 Ðức Chúa Trời ôi, chúng con suy gẫm về tình yêu của Ngài trong đền thờ Ngài.
10 Ðức Chúa Trời ôi, thật như danh Ngài thể nào,
Sự ca ngợi Ngài khắp tận cùng trái đất cũng thể ấy;
Trong tay phải Ngài quả có đầy công lý.[a]
11 Nguyện Núi Si-ôn vui mừng;
Nguyện các thành[b] của Giu-đa vui vẻ,
Vì sự phán xét của Ngài.
12 Hãy đi vòng quanh Si-ôn.
Hãy đi chung quanh thành ấy.
Hãy đếm các tháp canh của nó.
13 Hãy để ý đến các chiến lũy của nó;
Hãy ngắm xem các cung điện của nó;
Ðể bạn có thể nói lại cho thế hệ mai sau.
14 Vì Ðức Chúa Trời là Ðấng đã làm như vậy đó.
Ngài là Thần[c] của chúng ta đến đời đời vô cùng.
Ngài sẽ dẫn dắt chúng ta cho đến khi chúng ta qua đời.
