¹ My heart overflows with a goodly theme;
    I address my verses to the king;
    my tongue is like the pen of a ready scribe.^(A)

³ My mouth shall speak wisdom;
    the meditation of my heart shall be understanding.^(A)

³ My words declare the uprightness of my heart,
    and what my lips know they speak sincerely.^(A)

²³ The mind of the wise makes their speech judicious
    and adds persuasiveness to their lips.

¹⁸ For I am full of words;
    the spirit within me constrains me.^(A)
19 My belly is indeed like wine that has no vent;
    like new wineskins, it is ready to burst.^(B)
20 I must speak, so that I may find relief;
    I must open my lips and answer.

5 I will sing for my beloved
    my love song concerning his vineyard:
My beloved had a vineyard
    on a very fertile hill.^(A)

⁶ Hear, for I will speak noble things,
    and from my lips will come what is right,^(A)
7 for my mouth will utter truth;
    wickedness is an abomination to my lips.^(B)
8 All the words of my mouth are righteous;
    there is nothing twisted or crooked in them.
⁹ They are all straight to one who understands
    and right to those who find knowledge.^(C)
