19 (D)The (E)afflictions of the righteous are many,
But the Lord (F)rescues him from them all.
20 He protects all his bones,

21 (H)Evil will bring death to the wicked,
And those who hate the righteous will suffer for their guilt.
22 The Lord (I)redeems the souls of His servants,
And none of those who (J)take refuge in Him will suffer for their guilt.

And He saves those who are crushed in spirit (contrite in heart, truly sorry for their sin).

Many hardships and perplexing circumstances confront the righteous,
But the Lord rescues him from them all.

Evil will cause the death of the wicked,
And those who hate the righteous will be held guilty and will be condemned.

The Lord redeems the soul of His servants,
And none of those who take refuge in Him will be condemned.

18 When someone is hurting or brokenhearted, the Eternal moves in close
    and revives him in his pain.

19 Hard times may well be the plight of the righteous—
    they may often seem overwhelmed
    but the Eternal rescues the righteous from what oppresses them.
20 He will protect all of their bones;
    not even one bone will be broken.
21 Evil moves in and ultimately murders the wicked;
    the enemies of the righteous will be condemned.
22 The Eternal will liberate His servants;
    those who seek refuge in Him will never be condemned.
