Psalm 33-36

⁶ By the ^(K)word of the Lord the heavens were made,
And ^(L)by the breath of His mouth ^(M)all their host.
⁷ He gathers the ^(N)waters of the sea together ^[a]as a heap;
He lays up the deeps in storehouses.
⁸ Let ^(O)all the earth fear the Lord;
Let all the inhabitants of the world ^(P)stand in awe of Him.
⁹ For ^(Q)He spoke, and it was done;
He commanded, and it ^[b]stood fast.
¹⁰ The Lord ^(R)nullifies the counsel of the nations;
He frustrates the plans of the peoples.
¹¹ The ^(S)counsel of the Lord stands forever,
The ^(T)plans of His heart from generation to generation.
¹² Blessed is the ^(U)nation whose God is the Lord,
The people whom He has ^(V)chosen for His own inheritance.

¹³ The Lord ^(W)looks from heaven;
He ^(X)sees all the sons of men;
¹⁴ From ^(Y)His dwelling place He looks out
On all the inhabitants of the earth,
¹⁵ He who ^(Z)fashions ^[c]the hearts of them all,
He who ^(AA)understands all their works.
^16 (AB)The king is not saved by a mighty army;
A warrior is not delivered by great strength.
¹⁷ A ^(AC)horse is a false hope for victory;
Nor does it deliver anyone by its great strength.

¹⁸ Behold, ^(AD)the eye of the Lord is on those who fear Him,
On those who ^[d](AE)hope for His lovingkindness,
¹⁹ To ^(AF)deliver their soul from death
And to keep them alive ^(AG)in famine.
²⁰ Our soul ^(AH)waits for the Lord;
He is our ^(AI)help and our shield.
²¹ For our ^(AJ)heart rejoices in Him,
Because we trust in His holy name.
²² Let Your lovingkindness, O Lord, be upon us,
According as we have ^[e]hoped in You.

⁴ I ^(AQ)sought the Lord, and He answered me,
And ^(AR)delivered me from all my fears.
⁵ They ^(AS)looked to Him and were radiant,
And their faces will ^(AT)never be ashamed.
⁶ This ^[h]poor man cried, and ^(AU)the Lord heard him
And saved him out of all his troubles.
⁷ The ^(AV)angel of the Lord encamps around those who fear Him,
And rescues them.

⁸ O ^(AW)taste and see that the Lord is good;
How ^(AX)blessed is the man who takes refuge in Him!
⁹ O fear the Lord, you ^(AY)His saints;
For to those who fear Him there is ^(AZ)no want.
¹⁰ The young lions do lack and suffer hunger;
But they who seek the Lord shall ^(BA)not be in want of any good thing.
^11 (BB)Come, you children, listen to me;
^(BC)I will teach you ^(BD)the fear of the Lord.
^12 (BE)Who is the man who desires life
And loves length of days that he may ^(BF)see good?
¹³ Keep ^(BG)your tongue from evil
And your lips from speaking ^(BH)deceit.
^14 (BI)Depart from evil and do good;
Seek peace and ^(BJ)pursue it.

¹⁵ The ^(BK)eyes of the Lord are toward the righteous
And His ears are open to their cry.
¹⁶ The ^(BL)face of the Lord is against evildoers,
To ^(BM)cut off the memory of them from the earth.
¹⁷ The righteous ^(BN)cry, and the Lord hears
And delivers them out of all their troubles.
¹⁸ The Lord ^(BO)is near to the ^(BP)brokenhearted
And saves those who are ^[i](BQ)crushed in spirit.

^19 (BR)Many are the ^(BS)afflictions of the righteous,
But the Lord ^(BT)delivers him out of them all.
²⁰ He keeps all his bones,
^(BU)Not one of them is broken.
^21 (BV)Evil shall slay the wicked,
And those who hate the righteous will be ^[j]condemned.
²² The Lord ^(BW)redeems the soul of His servants,
And none of those who ^(BX)take refuge in Him will be ^[k]condemned.

⁹ And my soul shall ^(CM)rejoice in the Lord;
It shall ^(CN)exult in His salvation.
¹⁰ All my ^(CO)bones will say, “Lord, ^(CP)who is like You,
Who delivers the afflicted from him ^(CQ)who is too strong for him,
And ^(CR)the afflicted and the needy from him who robs him?”
^11 (CS)Malicious witnesses rise up;
They ask me of things that I do not know.
¹² They ^(CT)repay me evil for good,
To the bereavement of my soul.
¹³ But as for me, ^(CU)when they were sick, my ^(CV)clothing was sackcloth;
I ^(CW)humbled my soul with fasting,
And my ^(CX)prayer kept returning to my bosom.
¹⁴ I went about as though it were my friend or brother;
I ^(CY)bowed down ^[p]mourning, as one who sorrows for a mother.
¹⁵ But ^(CZ)at my ^[q]stumbling they rejoiced and gathered themselves together;
The ^[r](DA)smiters whom I did not know gathered together against me,
They ^[s](DB)slandered me without ceasing.
¹⁶ Like godless jesters at a feast,
They ^(DC)gnashed at me with their teeth.

¹⁷ Lord, ^(DD)how long will You look on?
Rescue my soul ^(DE)from their ravages,
My ^(DF)only life from the lions.
¹⁸ I will ^(DG)give You thanks in the great congregation;
I will ^(DH)praise You among a mighty throng.
^19 (DI)Do not let those who are wrongfully ^(DJ)my enemies rejoice over me;
Nor let those ^(DK)who hate me without cause ^[t](DL)wink maliciously.
²⁰ For they do not speak peace,
But they devise ^(DM)deceitful words against those who are quiet in the land.
²¹ They ^(DN)opened their mouth wide against me;
They said, “^(DO)Aha, aha, our eyes have seen it!”

^22 (DP)You have seen it, O Lord, ^(DQ)do not keep silent;
O Lord, ^(DR)do not be far from me.
^23 (DS)Stir up Yourself, and awake to my right
And to my cause, my God and my Lord.
^24 (DT)Judge me, O Lord my God, according to Your righteousness,
And ^(DU)do not let them rejoice over me.
²⁵ Do not let them say in their heart, “^(DV)Aha, our desire!”
Do not let them say, “We have ^(DW)swallowed him up!”
²⁶ Let ^(DX)those be ashamed and humiliated altogether who rejoice at my distress;
Let those be ^(DY)clothed with shame and dishonor who ^(DZ)magnify themselves over me.

²⁷ Let them ^(EA)shout for joy and rejoice, who favor ^(EB)my vindication;
And ^(EC)let them say continually, “The Lord be magnified,
Who ^(ED)delights in the prosperity of His servant.”
²⁸ And ^(EE)my tongue shall declare Your righteousness
And Your praise all day long.

⁵ Your ^(EM)lovingkindness, O Lord, ^[x]extends to the heavens,
Your faithfulness reaches to the skies.
⁶ Your ^(EN)righteousness is like the ^[y]mountains of God;
Your ^(EO)judgments are like a great deep.
O Lord, You ^(EP)preserve man and beast.
⁷ How ^(EQ)precious is Your lovingkindness, O God!
And the children of men ^(ER)take refuge in the shadow of Your wings.
⁸ They ^(ES)drink their fill of the ^[z]abundance of Your house;
And You give them to drink of the ^(ET)river of Your delights.
⁹ For with You is the ^(EU)fountain of life;
In Your light we see light.

¹⁰ O continue Your lovingkindness to ^(EV)those who know You,
And Your ^(EW)righteousness to the upright in heart.
¹¹ Let not the foot of pride come upon me,
And let not the hand of the wicked drive me away.
¹² There the doers of iniquity have fallen;
They have been thrust down and ^(EX)cannot rise.
