2 Why are ^(A)the ^[a]nations in an uproar
And the peoples ^(B)devising a vain thing?
² The ^(C)kings of the earth take their stand
And the rulers take counsel together
^(D)Against the Lord and against His ^[b](E)Anointed, saying,
³ “Let us ^(F)tear their fetters apart
And cast away their cords from us!”

¹⁰ “^(A)Devise a plan, but it will be thwarted;
State a ^[a]proposal, but ^(B)it will not stand,
For ^[b](C)God is with us.”

³ “Then the spirit of the Egyptians will be demoralized within them;
And I will confound their strategy,
So that ^(A)they will resort to idols and ghosts of the dead
And to ^[a]mediums and spiritists.
