⁴ Again I will build you, and you shall be built,
    O virgin Israel!
Again you shall adorn yourself with your tambourines
    and go forth in the dance of the merrymakers.^(A)

⁸     he will swallow up death forever.
Then the Lord God will wipe away the tears from all faces,
    and the disgrace of his people he will take away from all the earth,
    for the Lord has spoken.^(A)

⁴ a time to weep and a time to laugh;
a time to mourn and a time to dance;^(A)

³ Let them praise his name with dancing,
    making melody to him with tambourine and lyre.^(A)

¹³ Then shall the young women rejoice in the dance,
    and the young men and the old shall be merry.^[a]
I will turn their mourning into joy;
    I will comfort them and give them gladness for sorrow.^(A)
14 I will give the priests their fill of fatness,
    and my people shall be satisfied with my bounty,
            says the Lord.^(B)

⁴ Praise him with tambourine and dance;
    praise him with strings and pipe!^(A)

¹ When the Lord restored the fortunes of Zion,^[a]
    we were like those who dream.^(A)
2 Then our mouth was filled with laughter
    and our tongue with shouts of joy;
then it was said among the nations,
    “The Lord has done great things for them.”^(B)
