Psalm 22:12-18
English Standard Version
12 Many bulls encompass me;
(A)strong bulls of (B)Bashan surround me;
13 they (C)open wide their mouths at me,
like a ravening and roaring lion.
14 I am (D)poured out like water,
and all my bones are (E)out of joint;
my (F)heart is like (G)wax;
it is melted within my breast;
15 my strength is (H)dried up like a potsherd,
and my (I)tongue sticks to my jaws;
you lay me in the dust of death.
16 For (J)dogs encompass me;
a company of evildoers (K)encircles me;
they have (L)pierced my hands and feet[a]—
17 I can count all my bones—
they (M)stare and gloat over me;
18 (N)they divide my garments among them,
and for my clothing they cast lots.

The Death of Jesus
28 After this, Jesus, knowing that all was now (A)finished, said ((B)to fulfill the Scripture), (C)“I thirst.” 29 A jar full of sour wine stood there, (D)so they put a sponge full of the sour wine on a hyssop branch and held it to his mouth. 30 When Jesus had received the sour wine, he said, (E)“It is finished,” and he bowed his head and (F)gave up his spirit.
