Tremble at the Presence of the Lord

114 When (A)Israel went out from Egypt,
    the house of Jacob from (B)a people of strange language,
Judah became his (C)sanctuary,
    Israel his dominion.

(D)The sea looked and fled;
    (E)Jordan turned back.
(F)The mountains skipped like rams,
    the hills like lambs.

What (G)ails you, O sea, that you flee?
    O Jordan, that you turn back?
O mountains, that you skip like rams?
    O hills, like lambs?

(H)Tremble, O earth, at the presence of the Lord,
    at the presence of the God of Jacob,
who turns (I)the rock into (J)a pool of water,
    (K)the flint into a spring of water.

19 For when (A)the horses of Pharaoh with his chariots and his horsemen went into the sea, (B)the Lord brought back the waters of the sea upon them, but the people of Israel walked on dry ground in the midst of the sea. 20 Then (C)Miriam (D)the prophetess, the (E)sister of Aaron, took a tambourine in her hand, and (F)all the women went out after her with tambourines and dancing. 21 And Miriam sang to them:

(G)“Sing to the Lord, for he has triumphed gloriously;
the horse and his rider he has thrown into the sea.”

“And when you pray, do not heap up empty phrases as (A)the Gentiles do, for (B)they think that they will be heard (C)for their many words. Do not be like them, (D)for your Father knows what you need before you ask him. (E)Pray then like this:

(F)“Our Father in heaven,
(G)hallowed be (H)your name.[a]
