My Soul Thirsts for You

A Psalm of David, ^(A)when he was in the wilderness of Judah.

63 O God, you are my God; ^(B)earnestly I seek you;
    ^(C)my soul thirsts for you;
my flesh faints for you,
    as in ^(D)a dry and weary land where there is no water.
²So I have looked upon you in the sanctuary,
    beholding ^(E)your power and glory.
³Because your ^(F)steadfast love is better than life,
    my lips will praise you.
⁴So I will bless you ^(G)as long as I live;
    in your ^(H)name I will ^(I)lift up my hands.

⁵My soul will be ^(J)satisfied as with fat and rich food,
    and my mouth will praise you with joyful lips,
⁶when I remember you ^(K)upon my bed,
    and meditate on you in ^(L)the watches of the night;
⁷for you have been my help,
    and in ^(M)the shadow of your wings I will sing for joy.

¹You, God, are my God,
    earnestly I seek you;
I thirst for you,^(A)
    my whole being longs for you,
in a dry and parched land
    where there is no water.^(B)

²I have seen you in the sanctuary^(C)
    and beheld your power and your glory.^(D)
³Because your love is better than life,^(E)
    my lips will glorify you.
⁴I will praise you as long as I live,^(F)
    and in your name I will lift up my hands.^(G)
⁵I will be fully satisfied as with the richest of foods;^(H)
    with singing lips my mouth will praise you.

⁶On my bed I remember you;

¹⁹當時，尼布甲尼撒怒氣填胸，向沙得拉、米煞、亞伯尼歌變了臉色，吩咐人把窯燒熱，比尋常更加七倍；

²⁰又吩咐他軍中的幾個壯士，將沙得拉、米煞、亞伯尼歌捆起來，扔在烈火的窯中。

²¹這三人穿著褲子、內袍、外衣，和別的衣服，被捆起來扔在烈火的窯中。

²²因為王命緊急，窯又甚熱，那抬沙得拉、米煞、亞伯尼歌的人都被火燄燒死。

²³沙得拉、米煞、亞伯尼歌這三個人都被捆著落在烈火的窯中。

²⁴那時，尼布甲尼撒王驚奇，急忙起來，對謀士說：我捆起來扔在火裡的不是三個人麼？他們回答王說：王啊，是。

²⁵王說：看哪，我見有四個人，並沒有捆綁，在火中遊行，也沒有受傷；那第四個的相貌好像神子。

²⁶於是，尼布甲尼撒就近烈火窯門，說：至高神的僕人沙得拉、米煞、亞伯尼歌出來，上這裡來罷！沙得拉、米煞、亞伯尼歌就從火中出來了。

²⁷那些總督、欽差、巡撫，和王的謀士一同聚集看這三個人，見火無力傷他們的身體，頭髮也沒有燒焦，衣裳也沒有變色，並沒有火燎的氣味。

²⁸尼布甲尼撒說：沙得拉、米煞、亞伯尼歌的神是應當稱頌的！他差遣使者救護倚靠他的僕人，他們不遵王命，捨去己身，在他們神以外不肯事奉敬拜別神。

¹⁹Then Nebuchadnezzar was ^(A)filled with fury, and the expression of his face ^(B)was changed against ^(C)Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego. He ordered the furnace heated seven times more than it was usually heated. ²⁰And he ordered some of the mighty men of his army ^(D)to bind ^(E)Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, and to cast them into the burning fiery furnace. ²¹Then these men were ^(F)bound in their cloaks, their tunics,^[a] their hats, and their other garments, and they were thrown into the burning fiery furnace. ²²Because the king's order was ^(G)urgent and the furnace overheated, the flame of the fire killed those men who took up ^(H)Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego. ²³And these three men, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, fell ^(I)bound into the burning fiery furnace.

²⁴Then King Nebuchadnezzar was ^(J)astonished and rose up ^(K)in haste. He declared to his ^(L)counselors, “Did we not cast three men ^(M)bound into the fire?” They answered and said to the king, “True, O king.” ²⁵He answered and said, “But I see four men unbound, ^(N)walking in the midst of the fire, and they ^(O)are not hurt; and the appearance of the fourth is like ^(P)a son of the gods.”

²⁶Then Nebuchadnezzar came near to the door of the burning fiery furnace; he declared, ^(Q)“Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, servants of the ^(R)Most High God, come out, and come here!” Then ^(S)Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego came out from the fire. ²⁷And the ^(T)satraps, the prefects, the governors, and ^(U)the king's counselors gathered together and saw that ^(V)the fire had not had any power over the bodies of those men. The hair of their heads was not singed, their ^(W)cloaks were not harmed, and no smell of fire had come upon them. ²⁸Nebuchadnezzar answered and said, “Blessed be the God of ^(X)Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, who ^(Y)has sent his angel and ^(Z)delivered his servants, who ^(AA)trusted in him, and set aside^[b] the king's command, and yielded up their bodies rather than ^(AB)serve and worship any god except their own God. ²⁹Therefore ^(AC)I make a decree: Any ^(AD)people, nation, or language that speaks anything against the God of ^(AE)Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego ^(AF)shall be torn limb from limb, and their houses laid in ruins, for there is no other god who is able to rescue in this way.” ³⁰Then the king promoted ^(AG)Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego in ^(AH)the province of Babylon.

¹⁹Then Nebuchadnezzar was furious with Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego, and his attitude toward them changed. He ordered the furnace heated seven^(A) times hotter than usual ²⁰and commanded some of the strongest soldiers in his army to tie up Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego^(B) and throw them into the blazing furnace. ²¹So these men, wearing their robes, trousers, turbans and other clothes, were bound and thrown into the blazing furnace. ²²The king’s command was so urgent and the furnace so hot that the flames of the fire killed the soldiers who took up Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego,^(C) ²³and these three men, firmly tied, fell into the blazing furnace.

²⁴Then King Nebuchadnezzar leaped to his feet in amazement and asked his advisers, “Weren’t there three men that we tied up and threw into the fire?”

They replied, “Certainly, Your Majesty.”

²⁵He said, “Look! I see four men walking around in the fire, unbound and unharmed, and the fourth looks like a son of the gods.”

²⁶Nebuchadnezzar then approached the opening of the blazing furnace and shouted, “Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego, servants of the Most High God,^(D) come out! Come here!”

So Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego came out of the fire, ²⁷and the satraps, prefects, governors and royal advisers^(E) crowded around them.^(F) They saw that the fire^(G) had not harmed their bodies, nor was a hair of their heads singed; their robes were not scorched, and there was no smell of fire on them.

²⁸Then Nebuchadnezzar said, “Praise be to the God of Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego, who has sent his angel^(H) and rescued^(I) his servants! They trusted^(J) in him and defied the king’s command and were willing to give up their lives rather than serve or worship any god except their own God.^(K) ²⁹Therefore I decree^(L) that the people of any nation or language who say anything against the God of Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego be cut into pieces and their houses be turned into piles of rubble,^(M) for no other god can save^(N) in this way.”

³⁰Then the king promoted Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego in the province of Babylon.^(O)
