33 You who are godly, sing with joy to the Lord.
    It is right for honest people to praise him.
With the harp, praise the Lord.
    With the lyre that has ten strings, make music to him.
Sing a new song to him.
    Play with skill, and shout with joy.

What the Lord says is right and true.
    He is faithful in everything he does.
The Lord loves what is right and fair.
    The earth is full of his faithful love.

The heavens were made when the Lord commanded it to happen.
    All the stars were created by the breath of his mouth.
He gathers together the waters of the sea.
    He puts the oceans in their places.
Let the whole earth have respect for the Lord.
    Let all the people in the world honor him.
He spoke, and the world came into being.
    He commanded, and it stood firm.
10 The Lord blocks the sinful plans of the nations.
    He keeps them from doing what they want to do.
11 But the plans of the Lord stand firm forever.
    What he wants to do will last for all time.

12 Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord.
    Blessed are the people he chose to be his own.
13 From heaven the Lord looks down
    and sees everyone.
14 From his throne he watches
    all those who live on the earth.
15 He creates the hearts of all people.
    He is aware of everything they do.
16 A king isn’t saved just because his army is big.
    A soldier doesn’t escape just because he is very strong.
17 People can’t trust a horse to save them either.
    Though it is very strong, it can’t save them.
18 But the Lord looks with favor on those who respect him.
    He watches over those who put their hope in his faithful love.
19 He watches over them to save them from death.
    He wants to keep them alive when there is no food in the land.

20 We wait in hope for the Lord.
    He helps us. He is like a shield that keeps us safe.
21 Our hearts are full of joy because of him.
    We trust in him, because he is holy.
22 Lord, may your faithful love be with us.
    We put our hope in you.

Praise God Who Creates and Saves

33 Sing to the Lord, you who do what is right;
    honest people should praise him.
Praise the Lord on the harp;
    make music for him on a ten-stringed lyre.
Sing a new song to him;
    play well and joyfully.

God’s word is true,
    and everything he does is right.
He loves what is right and fair;
    the Lord’s love fills the earth.

The sky was made at the Lord’s command.
    By the breath from his mouth, he made all the stars.
He gathered the water of the sea into a heap.
    He made the great ocean stay in its place.
All the earth should worship the Lord;
    the whole world should fear him.
He spoke, and it happened.
    He commanded, and it appeared.
10 The Lord upsets the plans of nations;
    he ruins all their plans.
11 But the Lord’s plans will stand forever;
    his ideas will last from now on.
12 Happy is the nation whose God is the Lord,
    the people he chose for his very own.
13 The Lord looks down from heaven
    and sees every person.
14 From his throne he watches
    all who live on earth.
15 He made their hearts
    and understands everything they do.
16 No king is saved by his great army.
    No warrior escapes by his great strength.
17 Horses can’t bring victory;
    they can’t save by their strength.
18 But the Lord looks after those who fear him,
    those who put their hope in his love.
19 He saves them from death
    and spares their lives in times of hunger.
20 So our hope is in the Lord.
    He is our help, our shield to protect us.
21 We rejoice in him,
    because we trust his holy name.
22 Lord, show your love to us
    as we put our hope in you.

Song of Praise

33 Sing for joy in the Lord, you who are right with Him. It is right for the pure in heart to praise Him. Give thanks to the Lord with harps. Sing praises to Him with a harp of ten strings. Sing to Him a new song. Play well with loud sounds of joy. For the Word of the Lord is right. He is faithful in all He does. He loves what is right and good and what is fair. The earth is full of the loving-kindness of the Lord.

The heavens were made by the Word of the Lord. All the stars were made by the breath of His mouth. He gathers the waters of the sea together as in a bag. He places the waters in store-houses. Let all the earth fear the Lord. Let all the people of the world honor Him. For He spoke, and it was done. He spoke with strong words, and it stood strong. 10 The Lord brings the plans of nations to nothing. He wrecks the plans of the people. 11 The plans of the Lord stand forever. The plans of His heart stand through the future of all people. 12 Happy is the nation whose God is the Lord. Happy are the people He has chosen for His own.

13 The Lord looks from heaven. He sees all the sons of men. 14 From where He sits He looks upon all who live on the earth. 15 He made the hearts of them all. And He understands whatever they do. 16 No king is saved by the power of his strong army. A soldier is not saved by great strength. 17 A horse cannot be trusted to win a battle. Its great strength cannot save anyone.

18 See, the eye of the Lord is on those who fear Him, and on those who hope for His loving-kindness, 19 to save their soul from death, and to keep them alive when there is nothing to eat. 20 Our soul waits for the Lord. He is our help and our safe cover. 21 For our heart is full of joy in Him, because we trust in His holy name. 22 O Lord, let Your loving-kindness be upon us as we put our hope in You.
