Thanksgiving for Rescue from Death.

A Psalm; a Song at the Dedication of the House. A Psalm of David.

30 I will (A)exalt You, Lord, for You have (B)lifted me up,
And have not let my (C)enemies rejoice over me.
Lord my God,
I (D)cried to You for help, and You (E)healed me.
Lord, You have (F)brought up my soul from [a]Sheol;
You have kept me alive, [b]that I would not (G)go down to the pit.
(H)Sing praise to the Lord, you (I)His godly ones,
And (J)praise the mention of His holiness.
For (K)His anger is but for a moment,
His (L)favor is for a lifetime;
Weeping may (M)last for the night,
But a shout of joy comes in the morning.

Now as for me, I said in my prosperity,
“I will (N)never be moved.”
Lord, by Your favor You have made my mountain to stand strong;
You (O)hid Your face, I was dismayed.
To You, Lord, I called,
And to the Lord I pleaded for compassion:
“What gain is there in my blood, if I (P)go down to the pit?
Will the (Q)dust praise You? Will it declare Your faithfulness?

10 (R)Hear, Lord, and be gracious to me;
Lord, be my (S)helper.”
11 You have turned (T)my mourning into dancing for me;
You have (U)untied my sackcloth and encircled me with (V)joy,
12 That my [c](W)soul may sing praise to You and not be silent.
Lord my God, I will (X)give thanks to You forever.

Thanksgiving for Deliverance from Death.

A Psalm; a Song at the Dedication of the House (Temple). A Psalm of David.

30 I will extol and praise You, O Lord, for You have lifted me up,
And have not let my enemies rejoice over me.

O Lord my God,
I cried to You for help, and You have healed me.

O Lord, You have brought my life up from Sheol (the nether world, the place of the dead);
You have kept me alive, so that I would not go down to the pit (grave).

Sing to the Lord, O you His godly ones,
And give thanks at the mention of His holy name.

For His anger is but for a moment,
[a]His favor is for a lifetime.
Weeping may endure for a night,
But a shout of joy comes in the morning.(A)

As for me, in my prosperity I said,
“I shall never be moved.”

By Your favor and grace, O Lord, you have made my mountain stand strong;
You hid Your face, and I was horrified.

I called to You, O Lord,
And to the Lord I made supplication (specific request).

“What profit is there in my blood (death), if I go down to the pit (grave)?
Will the dust praise You? Will it declare Your faithfulness [to man]?

10
“Hear, O Lord, be gracious and show favor to me;
O Lord, be my helper.”
11
You have turned my mourning into dancing for me;
You have taken off my sackcloth and clothed me with joy,
12
That my soul may sing praise to You and not be silent.
O Lord my God, I will give thanks to You forever.

  1. Psalm 30:5 Or in His favor is life.

A song of David for the dedication of the Temple.[a]

30 Lord, you lifted me out of my troubles.
    You did not give my enemies a reason to laugh,
    so I will praise you.
Lord my God, I prayed to you,
    and you healed me.
Lord, you lifted me out of the grave.
    I was falling into the place of death, but you saved my life.

Praise the Lord, you who are loyal to him!
    Praise his holy name[b]!
His anger lasts for a little while,
    but then his kindness brings life.
The night may be filled with tears,
    but in the morning we can sing for joy!

When I was safe and secure,
    I thought nothing could hurt me.
Yes, Lord, while you were kind to me,
    I felt that nothing could defeat me.[c]
But when you turned away from me,
    I was filled with fear.
So, Lord, I turned and prayed to you.
    I asked you, Lord, to show me mercy.
I said, “What good is it if I die
    and go down to the grave?
The dead just lie in the dirt.
    They cannot praise you.
    They cannot tell anyone how faithful you are.
10 Lord, hear my prayer, and be kind to me.
    Lord, help me!”

11 You have changed my sorrow into dancing.
    You have taken away my sackcloth
    and clothed me with joy.
12 You wanted me to praise you and not be silent.
    Lord my God, I will praise you forever!

Salmo. Cántico para la dedicación de la Casa. Salmo de David.

30 Te ensalzaré, oh Señor(A), porque me has elevado(B),
A Ti pedí auxilio(D) y me sanaste(E).
Oh Señor, has sacado mi alma del Seol(F);
Canten alabanzas(H) al Señor, ustedes Sus santos(I),
Y alaben(J) Su santo nombre(K).

Oh Señor, con Tu favor has hecho que mi monte permanezca fuerte;
Tú escondiste Tu rostro(P), fui conturbado.
A Ti, oh Señor, clamé,

10 »Escucha, oh Señor, y ten piedad de mí(S);
Oh Señor, sé Tú mi ayuda(T)».
11 Tú has cambiado mi lamento en danza(U);
Has desatado mi ropa de luto(V) y me has ceñido de alegría(W);
