25 To the faithful(A) you show yourself faithful,(B)
to the blameless you show yourself blameless,
26 to the pure(C) you show yourself pure,
but to the devious you show yourself shrewd.(D)
27 You save the humble(E)
but bring low those whose eyes are haughty.(F)
28 You, Lord, keep my lamp(G) burning;
my God turns my darkness into light.(H)
29 With your help(I) I can advance against a troop[a];
with my God I can scale a wall.
30 As for God, his way is perfect:(J)
The Lord’s word is flawless;(K)
he shields(L) all who take refuge(M) in him.
31 For who is God besides the Lord?(N)
And who is the Rock(O) except our God?
32 It is God who arms me with strength(P)
and keeps my way secure.(Q)
33 He makes my feet like the feet of a deer;(R)
he causes me to stand on the heights.(S)
34 He trains my hands for battle;(T)
my arms can bend a bow of bronze.
35 You make your saving help my shield,
and your right hand sustains(U) me;
your help has made me great.
36 You provide a broad path(V) for my feet,
so that my ankles do not give way.(W)
37 I pursued my enemies(X) and overtook them;
I did not turn back till they were destroyed.
38 I crushed them(Y) so that they could not rise;(Z)
they fell beneath my feet.(AA)
39 You armed me with strength(AB) for battle;
you humbled my adversaries(AC) before me.
40 You made my enemies turn their backs(AD) in flight,
and I destroyed(AE) my foes.
41 They cried for help, but there was no one to save them(AF)—
to the Lord, but he did not answer.(AG)
42 I beat them as fine as windblown dust;(AH)
I trampled them[b] like mud in the streets.
43 You have delivered me from the attacks of the people;
you have made me the head of nations.(AI)
People I did not know(AJ) now serve me,
44 foreigners(AK) cower before me;
as soon as they hear of me, they obey me.
45 They all lose heart;(AL)
they come trembling(AM) from their strongholds.(AN)
46 The Lord lives!(AO) Praise be to my Rock!(AP)
Exalted be God(AQ) my Savior!(AR)
47 He is the God who avenges(AS) me,
who subdues nations(AT) under me,
48 who saves(AU) me from my enemies.(AV)
You exalted me above my foes;
from a violent man(AW) you rescued me.
49 Therefore I will praise you, Lord, among the nations;(AX)
I will sing(AY) the praises of your name.(AZ)
50 He gives his king great victories;
he shows unfailing love to his anointed,(BA)
to David(BB) and to his descendants forever.(BC)

1 The heavens(BD) declare(BE) the glory of God;(BF)
the skies(BG) proclaim the work of his hands.(BH)
2 Day after day they pour forth speech;
night after night they reveal knowledge.(BI)
3 They have no speech, they use no words;
no sound is heard from them.
4 Yet their voice[d] goes out into all the earth,
their words to the ends of the world.(BJ)
In the heavens God has pitched a tent(BK) for the sun.(BL)
5 It is like a bridegroom(BM) coming out of his chamber,(BN)
like a champion(BO) rejoicing to run his course.
6 It rises at one end of the heavens(BP)
and makes its circuit to the other;(BQ)
nothing is deprived of its warmth.
7 The law of the Lord(BR) is perfect,(BS)
refreshing the soul.(BT)
The statutes of the Lord are trustworthy,(BU)
making wise the simple.(BV)
8 The precepts of the Lord are right,(BW)
giving joy(BX) to the heart.
The commands of the Lord are radiant,
giving light to the eyes.(BY)
9 The fear of the Lord(BZ) is pure,
enduring forever.
The decrees of the Lord are firm,
and all of them are righteous.(CA)
10 They are more precious than gold,(CB)
than much pure gold;
they are sweeter than honey,(CC)
than honey from the honeycomb.(CD)
11 By them your servant is warned;
in keeping them there is great reward.
12 But who can discern their own errors?
Forgive my hidden faults.(CE)
13 Keep your servant also from willful sins;(CF)
may they not rule over me.(CG)
Then I will be blameless,(CH)
innocent of great transgression.
14 May these words of my mouth and this meditation of my heart
be pleasing(CI) in your sight,
Lord, my Rock(CJ) and my Redeemer.(CK)
Psalm 20[e]

1 May the Lord answer you when you are in distress;(CL)
may the name of the God of Jacob(CM) protect you.(CN)
2 May he send you help(CO) from the sanctuary(CP)
and grant you support(CQ) from Zion.(CR)
3 May he remember(CS) all your sacrifices
and accept your burnt offerings.[f](CT)
4 May he give you the desire of your heart(CU)
and make all your plans succeed.(CV)
5 May we shout for joy(CW) over your victory
and lift up our banners(CX) in the name of our God.
May the Lord grant all your requests.(CY)
6 Now this I know:
The Lord gives victory to his anointed.(CZ)
He answers him from his heavenly sanctuary
with the victorious power of his right hand.(DA)
7 Some trust in chariots(DB) and some in horses,(DC)
but we trust in the name of the Lord our God.(DD)
8 They are brought to their knees and fall,(DE)
but we rise up(DF) and stand firm.(DG)
9 Lord, give victory to the king!
Answer us(DH) when we call!
Psalm 21[g]

2 You have granted him his heart’s desire(DK)
and have not withheld the request of his lips.[h]
3 You came to greet him with rich blessings
and placed a crown of pure gold(DL) on his head.(DM)
4 He asked you for life, and you gave it to him—
length of days, for ever and ever.(DN)
5 Through the victories(DO) you gave, his glory is great;
you have bestowed on him splendor and majesty.(DP)
6 Surely you have granted him unending blessings
and made him glad with the joy(DQ) of your presence.(DR)
7 For the king trusts in the Lord;(DS)
through the unfailing love(DT) of the Most High(DU)
he will not be shaken.(DV)
8 Your hand will lay hold(DW) on all your enemies;
your right hand will seize your foes.
9 When you appear for battle,
you will burn them up as in a blazing furnace.
The Lord will swallow them up in his wrath,
and his fire will consume them.(DX)
10 You will destroy their descendants from the earth,
their posterity from mankind.(DY)
11 Though they plot evil(DZ) against you
and devise wicked schemes,(EA) they cannot succeed.

when you aim at them with drawn bow.

1 My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?(EE)
Why are you so far(EF) from saving me,
so far from my cries of anguish?(EG)
2 My God, I cry out by day, but you do not answer,(EH)
by night,(EI) but I find no rest.[j]
3 Yet you are enthroned as the Holy One;(EJ)
you are the one Israel praises.[k](EK)
4 In you our ancestors put their trust;
they trusted and you delivered them.(EL)
5 To you they cried out(EM) and were saved;
in you they trusted(EN) and were not put to shame.(EO)
6 But I am a worm(EP) and not a man,
scorned by everyone,(EQ) despised(ER) by the people.
7 All who see me mock me;(ES)
they hurl insults,(ET) shaking their heads.(EU)
8 “He trusts in the Lord,” they say,
“let the Lord rescue him.(EV)
Let him deliver him,(EW)
since he delights(EX) in him.”
9 Yet you brought me out of the womb;(EY)
you made me trust(EZ) in you, even at my mother’s breast.
10 From birth(FA) I was cast on you;
from my mother’s womb you have been my God.
12 Many bulls(FE) surround me;(FF)
strong bulls of Bashan(FG) encircle me.
13 Roaring lions(FH) that tear their prey(FI)
open their mouths wide(FJ) against me.
14 I am poured out like water,
and all my bones are out of joint.(FK)
My heart has turned to wax;(FL)
it has melted(FM) within me.
15 My mouth[l] is dried up like a potsherd,(FN)
and my tongue sticks to the roof of my mouth;(FO)
you lay me in the dust(FP) of death.
16 Dogs(FQ) surround me,
a pack of villains encircles me;
they pierce[m](FR) my hands and my feet.
17 All my bones are on display;
people stare(FS) and gloat over me.(FT)
18 They divide my clothes among them
and cast lots(FU) for my garment.(FV)
19 But you, Lord, do not be far from me.(FW)
You are my strength;(FX) come quickly(FY) to help me.(FZ)
20 Deliver me from the sword,(GA)
my precious life(GB) from the power of the dogs.(GC)
21 Rescue me from the mouth of the lions;(GD)
save me from the horns of the wild oxen.(GE)
22 I will declare your name to my people;
in the assembly(GF) I will praise you.(GG)
23 You who fear the Lord, praise him!(GH)
All you descendants of Jacob, honor him!(GI)
Revere him,(GJ) all you descendants of Israel!
24 For he has not despised(GK) or scorned
the suffering of the afflicted one;(GL)
he has not hidden his face(GM) from him
but has listened to his cry for help.(GN)
25 From you comes the theme of my praise in the great assembly;(GO)
before those who fear you[n] I will fulfill my vows.(GP)
26 The poor will eat(GQ) and be satisfied;
those who seek the Lord will praise him—(GR)
may your hearts live forever!
27 All the ends of the earth(GS)
will remember and turn to the Lord,
and all the families of the nations
will bow down before him,(GT)
28 for dominion belongs to the Lord(GU)
and he rules over the nations.
29 All the rich(GV) of the earth will feast and worship;(GW)
all who go down to the dust(GX) will kneel before him—
those who cannot keep themselves alive.(GY)
30 Posterity(GZ) will serve him;
future generations(HA) will be told about the Lord.
31 They will proclaim his righteousness,(HB)
declaring to a people yet unborn:(HC)

Psalm 23
A psalm of David.
1 The Lord is my shepherd,(HE) I lack nothing.(HF)
2 He makes me lie down in green pastures,
he leads me beside quiet waters,(HG)
3 he refreshes my soul.(HH)
He guides me(HI) along the right paths(HJ)
for his name’s sake.(HK)
4 Even though I walk
through the darkest valley,[o](HL)
I will fear no evil,(HM)
for you are with me;(HN)
your rod and your staff,
they comfort me.
5 You prepare a table(HO) before me
in the presence of my enemies.
You anoint my head with oil;(HP)
my cup(HQ) overflows.
6 Surely your goodness and love(HR) will follow me
all the days of my life,
and I will dwell in the house of the Lord
forever.
Psalm 24
Of David. A psalm.
1 The earth is the Lord’s,(HS) and everything in it,
the world, and all who live in it;(HT)
2 for he founded it on the seas
and established it on the waters.(HU)
3 Who may ascend the mountain(HV) of the Lord?
Who may stand in his holy place?(HW)
4 The one who has clean hands(HX) and a pure heart,(HY)
who does not trust in an idol(HZ)
or swear by a false god.[p]
5 They will receive blessing(IA) from the Lord
and vindication(IB) from God their Savior.
6 Such is the generation of those who seek him,
who seek your face,(IC) God of Jacob.[q][r]
7 Lift up your heads, you gates;(ID)
be lifted up, you ancient doors,
that the King(IE) of glory(IF) may come in.(IG)
8 Who is this King of glory?
The Lord strong and mighty,(IH)

Of David.
1 In you, Lord my God,
I put my trust.(IK)
2 I trust in you;(IL)
do not let me be put to shame,
nor let my enemies triumph over me.
3 No one who hopes in you
will ever be put to shame,(IM)
but shame will come on those
who are treacherous(IN) without cause.
4 Show me your ways, Lord,
teach me your paths.(IO)
5 Guide me in your truth(IP) and teach me,
for you are God my Savior,(IQ)
and my hope is in you(IR) all day long.
6 Remember, Lord, your great mercy and love,(IS)
for they are from of old.
7 Do not remember the sins of my youth(IT)

13 They will spend their days in prosperity,(JI)

14 The Lord confides(JK) in those who fear him;
he makes his covenant known(JL) to them.
15 My eyes are ever on the Lord,(JM)
for only he will release my feet from the snare.(JN)
16 Turn to me(JO) and be gracious to me,(JP)
for I am lonely(JQ) and afflicted.
17 Relieve the troubles(JR) of my heart
and free me from my anguish.(JS)
18 Look on my affliction(JT) and my distress(JU)
and take away all my sins.(JV)
19 See how numerous are my enemies(JW)
and how fiercely they hate me!(JX)

Psalm 26

1 Vindicate me,(KG) Lord,
for I have led a blameless life;(KH)
I have trusted(KI) in the Lord
and have not faltered.(KJ)
2 Test me,(KK) Lord, and try me,
examine my heart and my mind;(KL)
3 for I have always been mindful of your unfailing love(KM)
and have lived(KN) in reliance on your faithfulness.(KO)
4 I do not sit(KP) with the deceitful,
nor do I associate with hypocrites.(KQ)
5 I abhor(KR) the assembly of evildoers
and refuse to sit with the wicked.
6 I wash my hands in innocence,(KS)
and go about your altar, Lord,
7 proclaiming aloud your praise(KT)
and telling of all your wonderful deeds.(KU)
8 Lord, I love(KV) the house where you live,
the place where your glory dwells.(KW)
9 Do not take away my soul along with sinners,
my life with those who are bloodthirsty,(KX)
10 in whose hands are wicked schemes,(KY)
whose right hands are full of bribes.(KZ)
11 I lead a blameless life;
deliver me(LA) and be merciful to me.
Psalm 27
Of David.
1 The Lord is my light(LD) and my salvation(LE)—
whom shall I fear?
The Lord is the stronghold(LF) of my life—
of whom shall I be afraid?(LG)
2 When the wicked advance against me
to devour[v] me,
it is my enemies and my foes
who will stumble and fall.(LH)
3 Though an army besiege me,
my heart will not fear;(LI)
though war break out against me,
even then I will be confident.(LJ)
4 One thing(LK) I ask from the Lord,
this only do I seek:
that I may dwell in the house of the Lord
all the days of my life,(LL)
to gaze on the beauty of the Lord
and to seek him in his temple.
5 For in the day of trouble(LM)
he will keep me safe(LN) in his dwelling;
he will hide me(LO) in the shelter of his sacred tent
and set me high upon a rock.(LP)
6 Then my head will be exalted(LQ)
above the enemies who surround me;(LR)
at his sacred tent I will sacrifice(LS) with shouts of joy;(LT)
I will sing(LU) and make music(LV) to the Lord.
7 Hear my voice(LW) when I call, Lord;
be merciful to me and answer me.(LX)
8 My heart says of you, “Seek his face!(LY)”
Your face, Lord, I will seek.
9 Do not hide your face(LZ) from me,
do not turn your servant away in anger;(MA)
you have been my helper.(MB)
Do not reject me or forsake(MC) me,

10 Though my father and mother forsake me,
the Lord will receive me.

Psalm 28
Of David.
1 To you, Lord, I call;
you are my Rock,
do not turn a deaf ear(MM) to me.
For if you remain silent,(MN)
I will be like those who go down to the pit.(MO)
2 Hear my cry for mercy(MP)
as I call to you for help,
as I lift up my hands(MQ)
toward your Most Holy Place.(MR)
3 Do not drag me away with the wicked,
with those who do evil,
who speak cordially with their neighbors
but harbor malice in their hearts.(MS)
4 Repay them for their deeds
and for their evil work;
repay them for what their hands have done(MT)
and bring back on them what they deserve.(MU)
5 Because they have no regard for the deeds of the Lord
and what his hands have done,(MV)
he will tear them down
and never build them up again.
6 Praise be to the Lord,(MW)
for he has heard my cry for mercy.(MX)
7 The Lord is my strength(MY) and my shield;
my heart trusts(MZ) in him, and he helps me.
My heart leaps for joy,(NA)

1 Ascribe to the Lord,(NJ) you heavenly beings,(NK)
ascribe to the Lord glory(NL) and strength.
2 Ascribe to the Lord the glory due his name;
worship the Lord in the splendor of his[w] holiness.(NM)
3 The voice(NN) of the Lord is over the waters;
the God of glory(NO) thunders,(NP)
the Lord thunders over the mighty waters.(NQ)
4 The voice of the Lord is powerful;(NR)
the voice of the Lord is majestic.
5 The voice of the Lord breaks the cedars;
the Lord breaks in pieces the cedars of Lebanon.(NS)
6 He makes Lebanon leap(NT) like a calf,
Sirion[x](NU) like a young wild ox.(NV)
7 The voice of the Lord strikes
with flashes of lightning.(NW)
8 The voice of the Lord shakes the desert;
the Lord shakes the Desert of Kadesh.(NX)

and strips the forests bare.

1 I will exalt(OE) you, Lord,
for you lifted me out of the depths(OF)
and did not let my enemies gloat over me.(OG)

you spared me from going down to the pit.(OK)

let me never be put to shame;

I say, “You are my God.”

from those who pursue me.

save me in your unfailing love.(QR)
17 Let me not be put to shame,(QS) Lord,
for I have cried out to you;
but let the wicked be put to shame
and be silent(QT) in the realm of the dead.
18 Let their lying lips(QU) be silenced,
for with pride and contempt
they speak arrogantly(QV) against the righteous.
19 How abundant are the good things(QW)
that you have stored up for those who fear you,
that you bestow in the sight of all,(QX)
on those who take refuge(QY) in you.
20 In the shelter(QZ) of your presence you hide(RA) them
from all human intrigues;(RB)
you keep them safe in your dwelling
from accusing tongues.
21 Praise be to the Lord,(RC)
for he showed me the wonders of his love(RD)
when I was in a city under siege.(RE)
22 In my alarm(RF) I said,
“I am cut off(RG) from your sight!”
Yet you heard my cry(RH) for mercy
when I called to you for help.
23 Love the Lord, all his faithful people!(RI)
The Lord preserves those who are true to him,(RJ)
but the proud he pays back(RK) in full.
24 Be strong and take heart,(RL)
all you who hope in the Lord.

1 Blessed is the one
whose transgressions are forgiven,
whose sins are covered.(RM)
2 Blessed is the one
whose sin the Lord does not count against them(RN)
and in whose spirit is no deceit.(RO)
3 When I kept silent,(RP)
my bones wasted away(RQ)
through my groaning(RR) all day long.
4 For day and night
your hand was heavy(RS) on me;
my strength was sapped(RT)
as in the heat of summer.[af]
5 Then I acknowledged my sin to you
and did not cover up my iniquity.(RU)
I said, “I will confess(RV)
my transgressions(RW) to the Lord.”
And you forgave
the guilt of my sin.(RX)
6 Therefore let all the faithful pray to you
while you may be found;(RY)
surely the rising(RZ) of the mighty waters(SA)
will not reach them.(SB)
7 You are my hiding place;(SC)
you will protect me from trouble(SD)
and surround me with songs of deliverance.(SE)
8 I will instruct(SF) you and teach you(SG) in the way you should go;
I will counsel you with my loving eye on(SH) you.
9 Do not be like the horse or the mule,
which have no understanding
but must be controlled by bit and bridle(SI)
or they will not come to you.
10 Many are the woes of the wicked,(SJ)
but the Lord’s unfailing love
surrounds the one who trusts(SK) in him.
11 Rejoice in the Lord(SL) and be glad, you righteous;
sing, all you who are upright in heart!
Psalm 33
1 Sing joyfully(SM) to the Lord, you righteous;
it is fitting(SN) for the upright(SO) to praise him.
2 Praise the Lord with the harp;(SP)
make music to him on the ten-stringed lyre.(SQ)
3 Sing to him a new song;(SR)
play skillfully, and shout for joy.(SS)
4 For the word of the Lord is right(ST) and true;(SU)
he is faithful(SV) in all he does.
5 The Lord loves righteousness and justice;(SW)

25 With the merciful thou wilt shew thyself merciful; with an upright man thou wilt shew thyself upright;
26 With the pure thou wilt shew thyself pure; and with the froward thou wilt shew thyself froward.
27 For thou wilt save the afflicted people; but wilt bring down high looks.
28 For thou wilt light my candle: the Lord my God will enlighten my darkness.
29 For by thee I have run through a troop; and by my God have I leaped over a wall.
30 As for God, his way is perfect: the word of the Lord is tried: he is a buckler to all those that trust in him.
31 For who is God save the Lord? or who is a rock save our God?

3 Though an host should encamp against me, my heart shall not fear: though war should rise against me, in this will I be confident.
4 One thing have I desired of the Lord, that will I seek after; that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the Lord, and to enquire in his temple.
5 For in the time of trouble he shall hide me in his pavilion: in the secret of his tabernacle shall he hide me; he shall set me up upon a rock.

13 The Lord looketh from heaven; he beholdeth all the sons of men.
14 From the place of his habitation he looketh upon all the inhabitants of the earth.
15 He fashioneth their hearts alike; he considereth all their works.
16 There is no king saved by the multitude of an host: a mighty man is not delivered by much strength.
17 An horse is a vain thing for safety: neither shall he deliver any by his great strength.
18 Behold, the eye of the Lord is upon them that fear him, upon them that hope in his mercy;
19 To deliver their soul from death, and to keep them alive in famine.
20 Our soul waiteth for the Lord: he is our help and our shield.
21 For our heart shall rejoice in him, because we have trusted in his holy name.
22 Let thy mercy, O Lord, be upon us, according as we hope in thee.
