He has (A)remembered His covenant forever,
The word which He commanded to a (B)thousand generations,
The (C)covenant which He made with Abraham,
And His (D)oath to Isaac.
10 Then He (E)confirmed it to Jacob for a statute,
To Israel as an everlasting covenant,
11 Saying, “(F)To you I will give the land of Canaan
As the [a](G)portion of your inheritance,”
12 When they were only a (H)few men in number,
Very few, and (I)strangers in it.
13 And they wandered about from nation to nation,
From one kingdom to another people.
14 He (J)permitted no man to oppress them,
And He (K)reproved kings for their sakes:
15 (L)Do not touch My anointed ones,
And do My prophets no harm.”

16 And He (M)called for a famine upon the land;
He (N)broke the whole staff of bread.
17 He (O)sent a man before them,
Joseph, who was (P)sold as a slave.
18 They afflicted his (Q)feet with fetters,
[b]He himself was laid in irons;
19 Until the time that his (R)word came to pass,
The word of the Lord [c](S)tested him.
20 The (T)king sent and released him,
The ruler of peoples, and set him free.
21 He (U)made him lord of his house
And ruler over all his possessions,
22 To [d]imprison his princes [e](V)at will,
That he might teach his elders wisdom.
23 (W)Israel also came into Egypt;
Thus Jacob (X)sojourned in the land of Ham.
24 And He (Y)caused His people to be very fruitful,
And made them stronger than their adversaries.

25 He (Z)turned their heart to hate His people,
To (AA)deal craftily with His servants.
26 He (AB)sent Moses His servant,
And (AC)Aaron, whom He had chosen.
27 They [f](AD)performed His wondrous acts among them,
And miracles in the land of Ham.
28 He (AE)sent darkness and made it dark;
And they did not (AF)rebel against His words.
29 He (AG)turned their waters into blood
And caused their fish to die.
30 Their land swarmed with (AH)frogs
Even in the (AI)chambers of their kings.
31 He spoke, and there came a (AJ)swarm of flies
And (AK)gnats in all their territory.
32 He [g]gave them (AL)hail for rain,
And flaming fire in their land.
33 He (AM)struck down their vines also and their fig trees,
And shattered the trees of their territory.
34 He spoke, and (AN)locusts came,
And young locusts, even without number,
35 And ate up all vegetation in their land,
And ate up the fruit of their ground.
36 He also (AO)struck down all the firstborn in their land,
The (AP)first fruits of all their vigor.

37 Then He brought them out with (AQ)silver and gold,
And among His tribes there was not one who stumbled.
38 Egypt was (AR)glad when they departed,
For the (AS)dread of them had fallen upon them.
39 He spread a (AT)cloud for a [h]covering,
And (AU)fire to illumine by night.
40 [i]They (AV)asked, and He brought (AW)quail,
And satisfied them with the [j](AX)bread of heaven.
41 He opened the [k]rock and (AY)water flowed out;
[l]It ran in the dry places like a river.
42 For He (AZ)remembered His holy word
With Abraham His servant;
43 And He brought forth His people with joy,
His chosen ones with a joyful (BA)shout.
44 He (BB)gave them also the lands of the [m]nations,
That they (BC)might take possession of the fruit of the peoples’ labor,
45 So that they might (BD)keep His statutes
And observe His laws,
[n]Praise [o]the Lord!

He remembers his covenant(A) forever,
    the promise he made, for a thousand generations,
the covenant he made with Abraham,(B)
    the oath he swore to Isaac.
10 He confirmed it(C) to Jacob as a decree,
    to Israel as an everlasting covenant:(D)
11 “To you I will give the land of Canaan(E)
    as the portion you will inherit.”(F)

12 When they were but few in number,(G)
    few indeed, and strangers in it,(H)
13 they wandered from nation to nation,(I)
    from one kingdom to another.
14 He allowed no one to oppress(J) them;
    for their sake he rebuked kings:(K)
15 “Do not touch(L) my anointed ones;
    do my prophets(M) no harm.”

16 He called down famine(N) on the land
    and destroyed all their supplies of food;
17 and he sent a man before them—
    Joseph, sold as a slave.(O)
18 They bruised his feet with shackles,(P)
    his neck was put in irons,
19 till what he foretold(Q) came to pass,
    till the word(R) of the Lord proved him true.
20 The king sent and released him,
    the ruler of peoples set him free.(S)
21 He made him master of his household,
    ruler over all he possessed,
22 to instruct his princes(T) as he pleased
    and teach his elders wisdom.(U)

23 Then Israel entered Egypt;(V)
    Jacob resided(W) as a foreigner in the land of Ham.(X)
24 The Lord made his people very fruitful;
    he made them too numerous(Y) for their foes,
25 whose hearts he turned(Z) to hate his people,
    to conspire(AA) against his servants.
26 He sent Moses(AB) his servant,
    and Aaron,(AC) whom he had chosen.(AD)
27 They performed(AE) his signs(AF) among them,
    his wonders(AG) in the land of Ham.
28 He sent darkness(AH) and made the land dark—
    for had they not rebelled against(AI) his words?
29 He turned their waters into blood,(AJ)
    causing their fish to die.(AK)
30 Their land teemed with frogs,(AL)
    which went up into the bedrooms of their rulers.
31 He spoke,(AM) and there came swarms of flies,(AN)
    and gnats(AO) throughout their country.
32 He turned their rain into hail,(AP)
    with lightning throughout their land;
33 he struck down their vines(AQ) and fig trees(AR)
    and shattered the trees of their country.
34 He spoke,(AS) and the locusts came,(AT)
    grasshoppers(AU) without number;(AV)
35 they ate up every green thing in their land,
    ate up the produce of their soil.
36 Then he struck down all the firstborn(AW) in their land,
    the firstfruits of all their manhood.
37 He brought out Israel, laden with silver and gold,(AX)
    and from among their tribes no one faltered.
38 Egypt was glad when they left,
    because dread of Israel(AY) had fallen on them.

39 He spread out a cloud(AZ) as a covering,
    and a fire to give light at night.(BA)
40 They asked,(BB) and he brought them quail;(BC)
    he fed them well with the bread of heaven.(BD)
41 He opened the rock,(BE) and water gushed out;
    it flowed like a river in the desert.

42 For he remembered his holy promise(BF)
    given to his servant Abraham.
43 He brought out his people with rejoicing,(BG)
    his chosen ones with shouts of joy;
44 he gave them the lands of the nations,(BH)
